How do you feel about games putting the actually Lvl as part of the damage formula? Creature games tend to do this the most I noticed like SMT and Pokemon.

For me, its when level is applied as part of the "to hit" formula.

Good for shitmons with low attack.

Souls games do the opposite in a round-about manner. Level is never cited in any of the damage or defense equations, BUT every level gives you 1 additional point of defense. It's open about this and up front so I'm okay with it. The idea is that you're literally becoming a magical demi-god of legend, meaning you will take absurd about of attacks and walk away fine.

Level being buried in the damage calculations seems sneaky and against what they tell you on the status screens.

Very dishonest design
