Halo and CoD, specifically because they normalized the idea of playing them with a controller which led to more of >>743341118

lack of server communities
we used to log into servers, like going to your neighborhood bar, everyone is starting to get to know you and be familiar with your name and play
games now have lobbies, the only real community comes friend groups and communities made elsewhere on another game or platform
so it tends to get splintered

unfortunately those kind of servers need upkeep

No private servers
Lootboxes
EAC and other kernel-level rootkits
Hero Shooters
DEI
Seasons
Tiered matchmaking
Russians
Symmetrical maps

The most cheater infested genre on earth. That's why the multiplayer scene sucks anyway, as for singleplayer there just aren't many fps games made for that, outside of indies.
>>
>>743340939
Cheaters, 'meta' fags and streamers. And you posted the worst offender in the image.

Oh yeah im also gonna blame esports shit and Counter-Strike cancer infesting the industry. Also fortnite and raid shadow legends and extraction shooters blew up and they are just mega fucking gay and dont hit the same as like a fully mic-d up Rising Storm 2 server in its peak popularity (even crackbone was in a server with me one time, yes THE crackbone, it was one of the greatest days ever)
>>
>>743340939
Cheating scared normies off, after the 8th time they don't bother anymore.
>>
Cheeseburgers, a scewdriver, lack of direction, and a diagram over policies.
>>
>>743343204
yep, which is when they were dumbed down for normies
>>
>>743340939
for me it's cheaters. Also all devs are woke so fuck em
>>
>>743340939
too competitive
>>
>>743340939

cheating mainly - digital ID will fix it when the devs can track the cheating to your real identity and ban you on that level
>>
>>743340939
Literally just hundreds of games where only handfuls stand out and everything sold worse than CoD so most of them died off, or they got taken over by complete retards that seemingly hate what they're working on.
>>
Skill based matchmaking, which forced everyone to sweat.
Excessive auto aim with controllers.
>>
>>743340939
Bommer NPC's like >>743341880 seethed and complained about every shooter during the 7th gen era because they didn't play exactly like their childhood nostalgia game from 1993 so now you get nothing at all

fags ITT are just mad their favorite genre is no longer in the limelight

It happened with arena fags, halo fags, and now its currently happening with the 7th gen brown n bloomers, and it'll happen to you

CoD MW2's success despite its lack of dedicated servers.

Oh look it's literally exactly the same fucking thread as yesterday. I don't know if this phenomenon is the result of zoomers who think it's funny as shit, indians or bots, but it's getting so fucking tiring and is proof this place is in its death throes.

>>743340939

What genre is more popular than fps?
>>
>>743340939
Dual analog controls.
ADS.
16:9.
Licensed game engines made to streamline yearly releases.
CoDslop.
Matchmaking
No dedicated servers.
No mod support.
Cooldown abilities.
Melee button instead of melee weapons being their own separate weapon.
>>743354520
I would argue that even though MW2 had consolebabby lobbies, the problem was that people were placated by the very surface level appeasement tactics that were pushed with the following Gun&Ball games that used dedicated servers but which were ultimately all still corporate owned or had some kind of account system.
>>
>>743352396
everyone and his grandma knows what an ak 47 means, only gun autists know about the correct term
>>
>>743340939
Half of modern fps are extractionslop. The rest is heroslop. The golden age is over and will never come back.
>>
>>743357963
>Licensed game engines made to streamline yearly releases.
Before UE2.5, every big FPS used Quake Engine
>>
>>743340939

Singleplayer slop like the game you posted, a virtual point and click adventure game where you press w to progress.
