Seeing Tokon discourse has reminded me that the first version of every new fighting game IP is always the worst and shittiest as time goes on and the game gets updated. And this has always been the case for every fighting game franchise so I'm looking forward to the game quite a bit with that in mind.But then Avatar has come out and I don't see anyone complaining about the game or its balance in any way. Is the game that great already? I've enjoyed what I've played of it but admittedly because of no ranked queue I've just been styling on casuals when I play online.

Can only mostly mash out of it using standing buttons, but imagine mashing against HOS who can charge cancel and make himself safe. Shit is also throw invul. It is also safe to throw out due to HOS's gatling options and its 0 on block anyways, getting a good conversion on RC and really good conversion on CH. The trick? You can jump out of it. Backdashin works midscreen too but not in the corner, its too active.

As someone that loves fighting games I really like how they tried to solve the issue of tag games requiring you learn too many characters. You can play this game strictly with one character and you are gimping yourself, but not by much. And if you play knowing 2 characters really well? That's probably all you need for the top level of play. It's cool too how it works in the idea that, people sometimes learn a second character for match-ups at a tourney, for the match-ups that are bad for their main. This game lets you switch on the fly between rounds to a character you might know worse, but you realize is a better match-up. All that shit is really novel and cool to me. The port is outrageously disappointing though, if you only have PC definitely wait. Some of the technical issues with cross-platform and rollback as least will likely get addressed at some point down the road. Though who knows for sure how many of these weird performance issues they'll actually squash.
