Why is Cuphead the only game to leave any lasting impact from the semi-recent 30s cartoon aesthetic trend?

Cuphead left no lasting impact. The reviewer that couldn't beat the tutorial had more impact than the game itself did, unironically.

It's the only game that actually commits to the cartoon aesthetic. Pie eyes and rubber hose bodies do not an old cartoon make, especially when 95% of the visuals don't even make use of that aesthetic to begin with.

>several copycats
>cartoon spinoff
>sequel in the works
I'd say it doesn't get much better than that for an indie game.
