what are some good basebuilding games? I like to gather stuff, build a base and chillgames like Ark, conan exiles, enshrouded, palworld, etc..
Ark, conan exiles, enshrouded, palworld
>>744617168Have you tried Ark, Conan Exiles, Enshrouded or Palworld?
>>744617168Factorio is a game about building factories but eh same thing try that
Abiotic Factor is a base-building game with a sequence and a story, but large amounts of places you can make your base in (the game is absolutely enormous, spacially).
>>744617168Rimworld
Rimworld is freaking amazing with the spaceship update. You can take your base with you.
>>744617168Kingdoms and CastlesIts like an RTS, but focused on making a kingdom instead of moving units around a map. Shit shows up and if you prep well they defend it well.
>>744617168dumbass cat
>>744617231>>744617334thanks for the bump anonsyes I've played those obviously>>744617420I wanted to try factorio but I'm looking for a more survival/crafter/etc kind of game rn>>744618034finished abiotic factor like a month agostarted as a masterpiece and ended like a fucking awful gameit loses a lot of quality at midgame already>>744618170>>744618743I have the base game what are the recommended DLCs?>>744619841never heard of it, will take a look>>744620012what's wrong with you, have more cat
>>744617168hows enshrouded?valheim is very good but only if they added an option to turn off raids since i last played
>>744620150I played both enshrouded and valheim when they came outvalheim started really cool but I ended up using console commands (I never use cheats or console commands) because it became unbearable. So much grind with too many empty landmass.I started flying everywhere trying to find the last boss and killed him with god modeEnshrouded felt really unfinished and I'm waiting for 1.0 to come out, but the basebuilding was really good, probably one of the best basebuilding systems out there right now
>>744620072>started as a masterpiece and ended like a fucking awful gamedid they add more content? I thought reactors were fun
>>744621387the game is basically finished, story wise (at least main story, ending hinted at more stuff coming up)for me it started falling off at security sector, lots of half baked stuff, both lore wise and content wiseI started to really dislike the game starting at reactors since crafting became kinda shitty and enemies become damage spongesthe ending is an absolute disaster
Necesse is alright
>>744621589>and enemies become damage spongeskek, looks like someone forgot to craft their weaknesses>the ending is an absolute disasterI feel like this is the common sentiment. People are just upset the game ended at all.
>>744621649when you get to stronger enemies you still can't craft more powerful weapons since some mats are unattainable yetand still there are too many enemies with too much HP and you have limited ammo/energy (lasers)>I feel like this is the common sentiment. People are just upset the game ended at all.the ending was bad as fuck, I'm glad I finished it, it felt rushed and bland
>>744617168medieval dynasty if you want to build a town from absolutely nothing, one of my favorite games ever.
Core keeper for chill pixel block gameThe forest/sons of the forest for grindy but rewarding base building Grounded for kino base building while fighting bugs. Fun with friendsSubnatica for alien ocean base buildingRaft or stranded deep for real world ocean base building. (Raft is kinda shit desu)
>>744621884idk man, carbon pickaxe just went brrrr. I was playing with some pretty unskilled friends too and no one seemed to struggle too much
>>744622419Oh ya and 7 days to die for zombie base buildingUrge for alien fear and hunger type horror base building
>>744617168subnautica though base building isn't the main goal you can still make some pretty cool shit
>>744617168Dune Awakening, if you like the setting you can get a lot of hours out of it. First playthrough its a top ten game for me and i didn’t like the movies all that much.
>>744617168I know this is an unpopular opinion but I enjoy 7 Days to Die.
>>744617168I played a zombie game called 7 Days to Die and another one called Project Zomboid about ten~ years ago. They're probably full releases now, but at the time they seemed really promising.
>>744622706i'll play this if they ever make it like conan exiles where you can run your own server/game
>>744622532>>744622776>7 days to dieI'm in my 6th dayUI is a fucking messthere are lots of things I can build that won't shop up in the crafting menu, only if I use the search specifically for them
>>744623035Maybe reset to whatever version they had on this day 10 years ago? That was pretty fun.
>>744623035If it doesn't show up in the crafting menu it's because you don't have the appropriate work station open where you can view the rest of the recipes available.
>>744620072>what are the recommended DLCs?Ideology and Odyssey Royalty is whatever and Anomaly is in a weird spot where if you want to access it's contents you have to interact with it and it leaves you stuck with it, it's all or nothing. Or at least that's the way it was when it first came out, no idea now because i didn't really care much for it to begin with
>>744622942September you can play/host full solo and alter settings. But why would you want that? I really love to see people building and doing stuff as a window dressing, you don’t have to interact with anyone and its full pve now already.
>>744622706This base is on eu-andromeda-hajar ~750m east of helius gate down in the valley. There are ~30 public containers with spice melange and solari hidden all across the compound, the amount depends on how difficult to find they are. Owner is on vacation so no restocks for the next 14 days.
>>744620072>what are the recommended DLCs?Pirate them all, it's very easy I do the same thing with the base purchased on steam. No need to use unlockers or weird shit, they function just like mods where you drag a folder into your game directory and it works. Personally i think none are worth the prices they set, but if I had to order from most to least relevant:>BiotechAdds biology (aging/reproduction), genes, and mech control. It easily offers the widest variety of playthroughs and slots into any run flawlessly. I couldn't imagine playing without it, it just expands upon the base game's features in a great way and gives more depth to the colonists.>OdysseyThe newest expansion, adds the ability to build your own mobile base in the form of a gravship. Also adds tons of new biomes, animals, weapons, etc. It's a solid expansion to the game but doesn't really offer as many systems as Biotech, it's more a content expansion but it's another that feels right.>IdeologyYou can create cults, roman larping, dictatorshops, hippy communes, etc. It's more of a flavor thing though, as you can make them really overpowered or really shitty but it's mostly up to you to decide at the start to theme a run around. If you like roleplaying and self-imposed challenges, this one is good.>RoyaltyAdds magic spells and an 'empire' faction you can join or fight. Not as grand as the other expansions but it's not too offensive either.>AnomalyIt's a love it or hate it DLC. You either really love SCP/Cryptid type shit or you don't. Even if you do, it's only really worth enabling to see once or theme a run around. That's the massive negative to this expansion, it's the only one I feel like I have to actually disable. It does not fit well like the others do, and can feel quite weird when you're encountering zombies or cryptids in a world that doesn't feel like they belong.
>7 Days to Dieis this game fun single player? for some reason i had this game confused with dead by daylight but the steam page for 7 days almost looks a open world fallout kinda game.
>>744624017You know how people seethe about Terraria getting more and more bloated until it's unrecognizable? 7DTD is actually exactly that.
>>744624017There are no barriers to playing the game solo, but unless you're autistic it will get old quick.
>>744623329>September you can play/host full solo and alter settings.hell yeah i'm there then>But why would you want that? because like conan you can adjust the sandbox aspect to do what you want and you can make your own custom server stuff. conan is full of interesting servers where people have created some really neat stuff like age of calamitous.
>>744621387Reactors were the highpoint. The ending isn't terrible but feels rushed and unsatisfying.
>>744617168That cat is waiting for the video game to come out.
>>744624126honestly no, ive never played terraria.>>744624247is the base building and in general gameplay kinda fun? i like pretty much any game where i can build stuff, that was only aspect that kept me playing fallout 4 for a while.
>>744617168Grab V Rising off loaded for like $5 or less.
>>744624440The base building is pretty good I guess, I don't play enough survival crafting games to judge it against the entire genre. There are plenty of materials and block shapes and furniture to make pretty looking bases, but the game isn't as suited to making ridiculous mega projects like a scale model of the Death Star. Stick to Minecraft if that's your kind of building autism. In 7 Days to Die your base is a fort to repel zombies first and a vacation home second.
>>744624440Genuine question, do you dislike fixing your base? Because zombies 100% will lock onto you and rip a line directly through every surface between the two of you.
>>744624656>but the game isn't as suited to making ridiculous mega projects like a scale model of the Death Starthat's fine i don't really make stuff like that and even when i used to play minecraft ages ago people were already using third party tools anyway. i just mainly built my own castles and forts on the sides of mountains.>Genuine question, do you dislike fixing your base? i have played icarus for quite a few hours and that has base repair and maintenance based on things like weather severity (it's pretty cool when lightning storms start forest fires) and what sort of material you're using which i don't mind as long as its not too bullshitty. is 7 days bulshitty where stuff like whatever base defenses you build don't matter?
>>744625006Last I played was a while ago so take this with a grain of salt. But it was very similar to Rimworld where you kinda built open super windy paths to funnel them to you, because otherwise they'd just rip directly through the sides/floor of whatever room you're in randomly.
>>744625006>is 7 days bulshitty where stuff like whatever base defenses you build don't matter?Your base defenses are extremely effective and can rip zombies apart, but like the other guy alluded to they will need constant repair, and unless you sus out how the zombie AI paths towards you you might end up with weird weak spots during a horde night.
>>744625270thanks, that does make sense.
I'm surprised OP listed Palworld, the base building in this game is too restrictive for its own good even if you can make some big stuff. You'd probably have more fun building shit in Minecraft or Terraria than Palworld even if all 3 games share the same brainrotting gameplay loop. Hell Minecraft comes with a creative mode if you don't feel like mining.
>>744621387Residences just sucks but it's very short so it's whatever. I think it's down to whether you love or hate Reactors, since it's the game's main combat challenge area. Reactors has gotten much easier in the more recent patches just because of pets and weapon coatings making the players that much more powerful. There's even a coating for destroying shields (Disruptor). There used to be only a few ways for new players to get over shielded enemies and now it almost doesn't matter, everyone has a reviving 20000hp monster (pets level up) taking up all the enemies' attention. I could sympathize before but not after this.
