>>746043402>no one alive has played f1 or 2They're incredibly accessible and simple CRPGs. I don't even play that many older CRPGs but I've beaten Fallout 1 like 3 times because it's so short

>>7460432721 and 2 are just too archaic even if the writing is great, the combat falls apart entirely when you have more than a handful of characters involved and unfortunately there's a lot of combat, even if you just flee from it you're still stuck waiting forever for turns to end. >>746045063Trvke. Fallout was always a cool setting with immense potential wasted on a series of mostly mediocre games
>>746044258Fallout 3 has the best map, the best environmental story telling, the best sidequests, the best rewards, the best character development, the best weapons, the best skills, meh writing, meh companions, but the absolute best DLCs.It has Aliens, it has continuing after the finale of the game (which is the best story), it has participating in a virtual reality experiment turning the game into a more FPS leaning experience, and not enough can be said about Point Lookout and The Pitt. If those TWO DLCs were the ONLY TWO DLCs, then Fallout 3 would still mog.

>>746045503If they cared they woulnt have gone out of their way to try and make their own Fallout fanfiction, move it to the opposite side of the country while moving things from the original games to it while not explaining it or giving the most fucked up reasons for it. >>746045280(1/2)>best mapSubstantiate your claim: how? The Capital Wasteland has content entirely concentrated on the bottom right corner, and everything else is almost entirely empty and what few towns do exist, do so wholly isolated in ways that make little to no sense (Big Town, Tenpenny Tower, Little Lamplight, Republic of Dave). The map has no verticality so if you go from say, Megaton to Girdershade (a """settlement""" with two people), it's a straight line with absolutely nothing in-between). The Mojave is not only more logical, but also a more consistent map to explore. You've got the I-15 going through the middle of the map with narrative ties to people coming and going from the NCR Outpost to Vegas and having recently ceased its use due to the prison riot and Deathclaws at the quarry, you've got the long way through Novac and Boulder City, a reason to explore the different caves and mountains and actually make your way across the desert like a wastelander and it feeling a genuine world and not a plain playground.>best environmental storytellingSubstantiate your claim: how? What environmental storytelling exists in F3 not in NV, and how much of it goes beyond the basic "skeleton with a gun in its hand"?>best sidequestsSubstantiate your claim: how? F3 is by far the game with the *least* side content Bethesda ever made. The whole game, the whole map, and you've got what, 15 sidequests? So they better made it count. What's this amazing sidequest content, anon? Bringing Nuka Cola to the Girdershade chick? An autist telling the first outsider he meets if he wants to nuke a town? LARPing vampires?>best rewardsSubstantiate your claim: how? Half the quest rewards are schematics for weapons you'll never use, and the other half like unique armors or perks exist in NV in the same capacity, only they're tied to more than just sidequests because again, F3 has extremely limited content so they push all the rewards to the dozen sidequests in the game
>>746045280(2/2)>the best character developmentSubstantiate your claim: how? What character even has ""development"" in F3 at all? You don't develop, your father doesn't develop, Eden doesn't develop, Autumm doesn't develop, Sarah Lyons or her dad/Brotherhood don't develop. Nothing develops.>the best weaponsSubstantiate your claim: how? Given you cannot even aim down sights, and more often than not the Gauss rifle shoots through NPCs due to a well-known vanilla engine bug with projectile registration and hit detection. It has poorly tested, retardedly OP weapons like The Terrible Shotgun, but is that better than the vast variety of GRA beauties in Vegas? Far more unique designs, too.>the best skillsSubstantiate your claim: how? Half the perks in 3 are incredibly basic "this gives you +10 Medicine immediately!" wastes like Daddy's Boy, Gun Nut, Little Leaguer, Scoundrel or Size Matters. Game doesn't even have skill checks in quests until like, Point Lookout. So I repeat: how?>the absolute best DLCsSubstantiate your claim: how? Anchorage and Zeta are hallway shooters in a game with godawful gunplay. The Pitt walked so Caesar's Legion could run, with the "moral choice" being incredibly retarded. Broken Steel was laughable as a paid patch for an ending they themselves fucked up. Point Lookout is the only tolerable one, and it pales in comparison to the likes of Honest Hearts (the weakest NV DLC), nevermind Dead Money or Old World Blues.

>>746046635>for example lacking unique POIsReally you believe this? as soon as you step out of the vault, which I remind you was 3D for the first time in the franchise's history, you are immediately beholding an environment filled with interesting things to explore and discover. It only deepens the more you trek through the wasteland too. You practically stumble into Megaton, right past the abandoned school, and have a fateful meeting with Burke who can send you to Tenpenny tower, ect.>i dont agree,Well I don't believe New Vegas has much in the way of environmental storytelling. Just off the top of my head, 3 presents you with a town that has an atomic warhead in the middle of town, and people are preaching around it. Maybe unbeknownst to people the town itself has a story to tell, but you do have to ask the oldest residents to divulge the details if you're curious and in search of answers.>disagreeWe will agree to disagree on this point, each quest I think about in Fallout 3 I remember it being interesting, and there's only like 30 of them, so they all kind of shine brightly. Don't forget the one where you see Harold again and there's a moral divide on what action to take.>FONV has more skillsbut it does have the same GOOD skills, so I digress>a tough time arguing thisLiterally how, those DLCs are absolutely the best in the franchise easily.
>>746045280I hate the fact that Fallout 3 has many good qualities that are dismissed because on retarded e-celeb told the goyimcattle that New Vegas is the best thing ever while Fallout 3 is irredemable garbage, even though without 3, there would be no NV.Typically in a classroom, if the teacher asks a question and the first student that gives the answer, he gets a clap, but then imagine someone else raising their hand, giving the same answer but with little more exposition and detail, the retarded NV cattle want you to award the 2nd student and rape the 1st.

Megaton's history ain't no secret. What's this place made of? Long ago, before the war, there used to be machines they were like buses, but they flew through the sky, taking people anywhere they wanted to go. You didn't have to walk, you just went to the air station, bought a ticket, and took to the skies. Anywhere in the world, you just up and flew there. When the war happened, the machines started dropping from the sky. Everyone around here thinks that the bomb made the crater, but it didn't. The crater provided good cover from the dust storms and when my daddy and the rest of the town decided to build the walls, they used what they had.So why didn't they move the bomb? Some of us wanted to. But the Church of Atom was just getting its start then. We needed their help to build the walls and clear the wreckage. If we'd have tried to move the bomb, they would have refused to help. Besides, a lot of people just wanted to leave it alone. It didn't seem to be hurting anything and who knows what would happen if we messed with it.1/2
>>7460490602/2Why build the walls out of some old flying machine? It's a hell of a lot easier than trying to find enough parts to build walls and houses from nothing. The scrap was there, why not use it? Besides, it's sturdy. It keeps the Raiders and the dust storms out. Not all of us had the luck to be born in a vault, you know. How did the town start? Well, originally, it started as a hole in the ground. My papi talked about how his father and the original settlers just hid in this crater. It was enough to keep them safe from the dust storms. When things cooled down and people started wandering into the Wastes, some stayed behind. The wanderers started coming back here to trade their stuff. By the time my papi was born, the town was a full on trading center. Papi got rich on the caravan routes and eventually convinced the others to build the walls to hold off the Raiders. Why did they build the walls? Well, the Raiders, for one. Once the town got big enough, they'd wait until the traders and their guards were away, then come in and clean us out! Now the Super Mutants... They were a whole other breed of problem. They'd kill us if they had to, but mostly they tried to drag people away! Alive! So, eventually, my father did something about it. Him and a few others organized the traders and the citizens and built the walls. So we're pretty safe now. Still, I wish those Brotherhood of Steel fellers hadn't hit on such hard times. They really helped keep the wolves at bay.So it was just a collection of traders in the beginning? Not at first. It was a collection of people trying to get into the vault, people worshipping the bomb, and a few other refugees. Then the traders came. Now the caravans take care of most of the trading, but before they were set up, it was all Megaton. I worked on the caravans with my father for a while. That's how I met that worthless bag of liver spots I call a husband.

>>746050149>Which begets you searching for answers and you do get them, you don't. they just tell you they ive around a bomb and the detonator which could wipe them out and they can't move the device or disarm it because scientologists. why do they have the authority to stop the town people? why are towns people ok living next to a bomb? its all glanced over, because the aesthetic of living in a town called "megaton" with a nuclear bomb in the middle is the only motivating factor for the area's design, and the world building has to bend over backwards to acommodate this. it would be like jacobstown in FONV being called "NCR Town" and the town itself is a NCR military base, with intelligent super mutants living in an abandoned house's basement that nobody has bothered checking, and everyone just accepting the risk of genocide based on the hope that nobody looks into the abandoned house. the entire world building of FO3 is like this, its also why the argument for environmental storytelling dies fast, because you can't really work around fundemental problems that defy basic logic and make you stop in your tracks and wonder basic questions.
Fallout 3 has the best atmosphere by far. It's absolutely oozing with soul. NV is better in every other aspect however.

I've said it in these threads before, but nuked DC is just way more interesting than sorta nuked Las Vegas. Fallout is kind of a pulp anyway even from the start so some of the crazier shit like a city on an aircraft carrier or around an unexploded nuke or a town ruled by kids works fine.

>>746043821everyone that likes F1 and F2 to this day instead of just memories of them is using a mod/patch called sfall that lets them run it at 500% speed with a hotkey (and it's smart and doesn't mess up voiced dialog). Example: me
>>746043065If you're just some shmuck trying to get into the series, it's probably Poo Vegas for better or worse>1 good build like FO1>enough roleyplay aspects from 2 with a healthy mix of seriousness and silliness>dreary atmosphere of 3 found in some areas and in the DLC's>can install a couple mods to make it play like 4>crashes enough to compete with 76
>>746043272NV > 2 > 1 > Tactics > 3Didn't play rest

>>746043065I replayed it like 2 months ago. They're some things that were "annoying" but honestly I really really enjoyed my time. Last time I played it I had never played a Bethesda game before and my character was wack but this time I went in with my pro level gamer experience and I dominated. Great game.
>>746043449>best one has to be 4 because of the gameplayI tried ti replay 4 recently and the gameplay is genuinely the worst thing out of all Bethesda games. It's clear they tried to court the CoD normie fanbase but were just terrible at making a game like that enjoyable. It's not immersive like their previous games and it's dizzyingly fast-paced for what, in theory, is meant to be an RPG.
>>746043065>>746045280Do (You) think Crowley deserves the T-51 Power Armor? He's still an asshole but I think he does deserve it.
Fallout 4 has all the appeal of 3 with better individual identity.
>>746047256>79 hoursGenuinely how?I'm on my first playthrough and I easily have not explored 50% of the entire map yet.
>>746043065No, pajeet. It's not a Fallout game. In fact it permanently killed Fallout forever.
>>746053864>didn't mod out the pipboy gloveWay to ruin an otherwise kino screenshot.
>>746043272>seventy-sixlollmao
fallout 3 is objectively the best, it made the combat palatable, it introduced deep and compelling story-telling in a revolutionary reconstruction of DC
>>746053375>>main villain self destructs because you asked him nicelyNever liked the speech check to make him self-destruct, he immedately and literally responds with: "Ok, fine." After you nicely ask him to kill himself. At least the science option to make him self-destruct made a little more sense and didn't feel as forced. Also he is not the main villain President Eden did nothing wrong.
>>746051328This post is the very definition of a nitpicking non-complaint, like it's just looking for any reason to hate on a certain aspect and will completely ignore any explanation to said "complaint".

3 is the only one that kept my attention all the way through, I put down NV and 4 before too long. I haven’t played the isometric games so can’t comment.
>>7460434532 crashes in 90+ hours on some outdated win10 with exactly zero mods installed.

>>746070027How's your transition going?
>>746070185How is your favela faring?
I started with Fallout 3. It's a fun game, decent objectives, nice apocalyptic world. Then I played New Vegas and found talking mutants, blue mutants that go invisible, enemies that put mines under dead bodies. The rpg elements were more extensive and more quests and better ones. Then I played 4 and wished I was playing 3 and NV again.
>>7460430654 > 3 > NV > 1 > 2
>>746043402>nv has the best writing
>>746068257>like it's just looking for any reason to hate on a certain aspecti'm not "looking" for reasons to hate theme park world building, i just hate it. when that aspect is the equivalent of having the logic of the game world bend itself backwards to acommodate theme park world building then it's indefensible. why are people living in rivet city right next to a hive of super mutants? you're not meant to think about it. just let the game circumvent basic logic. why wasn't shady sands built right in the middle of a deathclaw nest, and called "deathclawtown"? also why did rivet city stop short of having the nuclear reactor be on the verge of meltdown, making the ship hull glow? wouldn't that have been cool?
>>746066894It's more fun than 3/NV. 76 as well
>>746043065I loved Fallout 1I liked Fallout 2 but with major reservationsI tried Fallout TacticsI liked Fallout 3I loved New VegasI enjoyed Fallout 4 and 76I haven't played BoS and Shelter

>>746065384You don't have to respond to him, he was obviously baiting, only the most retarded normies think 4 is better than the previous games and they would've ranked 76 ahead of 4 because they only like it for the building, scavenging and Cowadoodie slop.
>>746069657I remember telling him to fuck off and immediately feeling like shit
>>746043065No that would be Fallout 1
>>746070027This is the correct order, though I would put Tactics in front of 3.
>>746070027>4 > 3come on now
>>746071827but having more moving parts and a larger scope is what makes it more enjoyable. and having actual enjoyable party members. but yeah, fallout nv handled the tone a bit better, like having the gangsters be replaced by elvis impersonators. still quirky but more fleshed out.>>746071738fo1 also had a talking plant. it also had literal espers.
>>746072076Name one instance in 4 where you actually wished for 3's mechanics/design instead. Barring the radiant quests, 4 completely ass-blasts 3 in everything it set out to do.>Companions>Gunplay>Exploration>Quest Design>Crafting
You simply cannot beat Liam Neeson kino.
NV is just fallout 3 but with a gay cowboy setting
>>746073439I always saw new vegas as a spinoff for Fallout 3, kind of like red dead redemption got the undead nightmare thing
