It's not as zippy as in 5, unfortunately
>>
All depends on the car, the high end sports car he had before handled like a 5 car.

promising. hope you can aggro the military. the increased immersion would've had me think the extremes would get scaled down.

the build leek got is from one of the lesser versions of the game. if you preorder the premium version of gta 6, you will get much snappier driving on top of also being able to customize your car
>>
>>746221808
they said they brought in real race car drives to look over the car handling and I believe them. It does feel as retarded as 4 where every car felt like a trash can that can rollover at any time but it's not as samey as V. supercars have the best handling, suspension and weight distribution matters.

This is why despite all my fears, and general pessimism, at the very least I expect there to be an attention to details that other devs wouldn't even think about. I piss and moan a lot, but I like to at least give credit where it is due.
Doesn't necessarily mean the game will actually be any better for it, but I appreciated the little touches in RDR2, so I'm more willing to give them the benefit of the doubt than I would be for say Bethesda for example.

gta4 driving physics aren't realistic, especially not the suspension aspects. every car feels like its floating, rwd cars feel like fwd cars, sports sedans with 350bhp struggle to power steer. cars simulatenously feel like they have 20% of their listed enginer power and extreme tendency to understeer even when the rwd sports sedans
>>
>>746229465
It's avoidance coping. It's most common in people who are naturally good at things in general when they encounter something they aren't instantly good at. When they spent their entire lives being ale to just pick things up, they never actually develop the patience required to actually git gud, so they tell themselves that it sucks, and stick with what they are good at.

Children that can’t drive only care about supercars, and it’s not too unrealistic for those to handle like they are on rails.

>ta4 driving physics aren't realistic
I can understand if they are not there for racing sim realism or even the likes of Snowrunner realism if the mud trucks are evers hown or when they are seen when releasee. But you would think after 13 years and seeing that RP players love some semblance of realism they would offer some options to alter things. It's not difficult. Give more options, make driving well in higher difficulties come with penalties if you do crash, if you want to drive as per normal in other GTA games (like 5) then you can keep that in. You don't need 3rd person to be purely Mario Karts without the fun.
>>
>>746229945

Getting away from cops in V is abysmal because of how they spawn and the fact they are psychic
>tear ass down highway
>cop car spawns ahead of you so just going fast is never a way to escape even low wanted levels
Or the much more irritating
>tear ass down highway
>see cop car spawn on map
>oh no you don’t, hit brakes in turn
>psychic cop IMMEDIATELY reacts to this and turns around on the highway

V genuinely had the worst cops/wanted system

I agree that V heavily toned things down to cater to retarded 12 year olds who thought you could just max speed drift every corner, but IV driving still had a ton of flaws that sucked a lot of enjoyment out of it.

If what we have seen from the leaks holds, it’s seems that supercars will maintain V style driving, which is what little kids drive almost exclusively so they will be happy with it. Regular cars, or cars customized in a stupid way (lift kid to fit 30 inch rims with 1/4 inch of rubber on them) will accordingly handle like garbage
>>
>>746229438
It's the car chase scene from "The Seven-Ups"
>>
>>746229918
Flight sims are the perfect example of what a skill set is. you can of course have dumbed down 3rd person or even 1st person "flight sims". Flight sims can be more targeted towards a mission rather than the flying anyway. You could have biplanes or 2nd world wars planes dogfighting in either skills set and you can have some excitement either way. But i have to say for a large element of driving in a GTA game, it's 3rd person really it really is pretty poor and as escaping he police if say a 5 star escape should be exciting then the skill needs to be ramped up. Looking at that video in OP it is pathetic, it's got no sense of danger, no sense you could get caught, shitty driving has no penalty. It's Forza tier, you drive into whatever you want at high speed and you can continue.
>>
>>746230339
Yea I don’t like going back to old arcade racers because every time I do, I just ruin it for myself. They either end up being ridiculously easy, only remembered as difficult because I was a room temp IQ child, or my tendency to drive “good” is punished by the game that expects you to just mash the gas at all times

The best way I have seen the difference in IV and V driving described is that IV driving is like a crime drama, there might be one car chase in it, but it’s a modest pace and ends quickly when someone hits something. V tried to be more like an action movies, where the driving is fast paced and for the sake of the cool action scenes, minor contact and collisions don’t disable the cars

The potential for constant scrapping, running away and changing cars/outfits/look is fun. An on the run GTA where you are constantly robbing gas stations to make petty cash is more fun than heists. having to respray a car and get new plates to be able to drive it around without hassle is good, i hope the cost to remove a tracker from a high end car is expensive to help make money actually worth a damn after the first few hours. The best timesi n gta4 were when you were broke in the first two cities doing odd jobs, barely affording ammo for your pistol

You are 100% going to have millions by the time you're 70% through the game.

the "snappiness" of V's driving is highly exaggerated, imo. yes many cars turn on a dime and such but larger boats are still somewhat unwieldy, even some online exclusive cars have very floaty suspensions. im more disappointed that halogen lights dont fade in and out.

I think they had problems optimizing NPCs at the time. GTA 5 was a PS3 game and they squeezed all they could from it compared to GTA 4, so they had to make some sacrifices when they expanded the scope of everything in it. In hindsight it really fucked the game up, at least in the police factor.

There was only 1 significant collision against that tow truck whilst he was breaking whilst moving slow and he kind of rolled with the collision and hit it at a softer angle. We have no idea really how the damage model is going to work because CyberLeek appears to be a non gamer or a casual and isn't interested in showing us any mechanical depth. The collision on the bridge with the sports car was pretty insane and ripped his wheel off and it wasn't even a head on. I'm also guessing that these older sedans are much more heavy and durable and once again he was also moving pretty slow when he hit that tow truck. The thick steel fences he hits seem to offer no resistance but that's more of a gta physics thing in general where these lighter barriers get ran through like cardboard.

the first person mod in GTA4 (which inspired the mode in 5 and RDR2) was just mounted on Niko's head, with his head made invisible. And it was so fucking cool. You looked down at your body, walkign with swagger, reaching your hand out to open doors and punch people in the face, shoot guns. It was like VR or something. Then in the official versions he strafes left and right with his pistol near his face like he's Leon in RE4, I hate that

>duplicate rare car spawns
looks like the same "glitch" that has been happening since GTA3 is back, where you drive a car and clones of that car start spawning. I am starting to think it's intentional. Dunno if this car is rare but you could do it with Infernus' and Banshees in previous games, up to GTAV
>>
>>746239536
It's not so much intentional as it is an inevitable outcome of cached memory.
>>
>>746239603
no way, computers are more than powerful enough to avoid that in 2026
>>
>>746239648
In order to do that you would need to have every single car file actively loaded at all times, alongside everything else, or have the final file size be a couple hundred gigs bigger than need be. Which we already know it is going to be gigantic as is.
>>
>>746239746
I have seen mods that fix it. They just take the clone car, delete it and replace it with a random car when it's offscreen as it spawns
>>
>>746239746
There were scripts you could run GTA4 that would increase the traffic density and fix that car spawning bug. GTA5s car spawning was the most egregious with how absolutely busted it was.
>>
>>746239803
>>746239876
It's still just swapping it out from something from the active cache. This has been a major issue for a while with a bunch of games. It's why we are seeing all these ridiculously bloated file sizes.
>>
>>746239901
>It's still just swapping it out from something from the active cache
it doesn't have to be cached. it can be anything, in that mod at least.
>>
>>746239950
its possible theres plenty of mods that fix it in v
>>
>>746239901
>It's still just swapping it out from something from the active cache
it is but the default game was so shitty it wasn't even able to do that. I also think I remember scripts that were able to increase the active cache to almost every car in the game but it was unstable.
>>
>>746239603
At this point they should at least be weighting cars differently to each other so that the majority of traffic is made up of common cars
>>
>>746239950
You know what, I was taking a piss while waiting for your response, and it dawned on me that I was just making excuses for incompetent devs. You're correct. I'll still make the argument that they are doing it to make the game run better, regardless of if they actually need to.
>>
I think zippy weightless vehicle handling is basically completely contradictory to what the appeal of what a modern rockstar game is. streamlining makes sense for smaller shallow elements of the game that would just be tedious but trying to pilot a realistic vehicle on your crazy joy rides and heists is the entire point. why even have this gratuitous simulation if you're not going to have dynamic vehicle chaos?
>>
>>746240046
is for
>>746240036
as well.
I've crossed the line between explaining why this shit is happening, and am starting to actually defending it, and that ain't cool.
>>
>>746239901
you are right that it'd save memory. But they just did that so it'd run on PS3, not because they needed to. It could've easily avoided that on PC.
The fact that it has been in so many games for so long even between different engines tells me it's on purpose, for whatever reason. Maybe it's an inside joke with them or something, or just a tradition. Because it's not good and it seems like just a bug. I guess it's kind of a mechanic for finding new cars, like an intentional exploits for the players who love that.
>>
>>746221808
It's like GTA4. Maybe there's hope for this game yet.
>>
>>746222407

No 5 has low max speeds. You have to mod the game for realistic top speeds. Super cars max out at like 130mph in gta5. Mod them to really go 200+ mph and you can roll and lose control of them in spectacular ways if you don't adjust for turns and terrain.
They limited the top speed because the faster you can go the greater the hardware requirements to load everything that fast.
>>
>>746221808
looks a little more physics-based than 5 but no way the'd go all the way back to 4's. probably will be somewhere in between, enough of 4 to make it feel good and enough of 5 to keep it fun
>>
My modded 5 looks like that and has 200+mph vehicles with enough torque for burnouts and drifting missing in the base game. They added the physics for it in 5 everything is just too slow and underpowered to do it. Can do partial accelerator drifting donuts in my gta5 torque modded game.
Of course its cracked to never need to go online and auto update ruining my mods and means no multiplayer.
Gta5 online was a grift anyways to encourage in game currency purchases and some hacker just made all your cool stuff pointless if you played legit.
6 will be the same way since 5 made so much money.

it's more fun to make it look real. Pulling a 7ft huge black man out of his car like he's made of straw looked silly.
/v/ lives on some immutable principle that faster = better, even when it looks like shit. Like every game, no matter the genre, should be constant action dopamine stimulation. Just play a pvp multiplayer game if you need that.
Now you can go too far, like RDR2 almost does, but it's not black and white. This still looks fast as fuck for jacking a car, if it was reality. And they've been going for this style (realistic animation even at the expense of snappy movement) since GTA4 so idk what you expect anyway
