kek how do did you not make a plan for it at least?
>>
anon if you're gonna nuzlocke you have to either be a turboautist that plans literally every single move or you gotta overlevel
rest in pieces then try again
>>
I always have the most fun with randomized nuzlockes
Sure they can give you some retarded bullshit such as encountering a level 7 legendary in the early game or a late gym leader having two caterpies, but everything being unexpected is cool
>>
It's okay OP
You got pretty far

Your mons can't be higher level than the next leader's highest level mon or sum shiiee idk
>>
>>748611891
if you're not playing a romhack that enforces that and you're not a tryhard then it's not a real rule and you can ignore it
>>
Anyone else think arin purposefully threw the match? Between him literally saying g what he is going to do right before fucking up on "accident" and dan being entirely disengaged with these weird statements that denote displeasure I feel like this playthrough was pretty ass
Why the fuck did dan blow up at arin over sponsoring some card gamer?

nuzlockes are kinda mid fr fr
>>
>>748611950
levelcaps is one of those rules that's basically required for nuzlockes to be any degree of fun, same with battle items and set format
>>
>>748611528
>not just using ice shard
kek rofl faggot retard
>>
>>748613057
Most these youtubers use rare candies too, which would trivialize the challenge as long as you arent retarded, I feel no reason to watch any of this crap because of it
>>748613097
tbf, it probably wouldnt kill, especially if it comes from trash like Abomasnow
>>
>>748613137
Personally I just don't see the point in rushing a pokemon game, that's why I don't get nuzlockes or people complaining about level curves and all that. It's a turn based RPG, take your time. Nobody gives a fuck if you beat pokemon with a bunch of made up challenges
>>
Any apparent challenge or even inconvenience of nuzlockes are instantly shattered when you realize you can just pick a water starter and fight with nothing by it, getting it overleveled and trivializing the entire game.
Pokemon singleplayer is a joke, all things considered.
>>
>>748613285
>Nobody gives a fuck if you beat pokemon with a bunch of made up challenges
And nobody besides attention-thirsty streamers does it for recognition and approval from strangers. It's just a cool way to enjoy a pokemon game if you fancy a slightly bigger challenge
>>
>>748613285
>NNOOOOOOOOOO STOP HAVING FUN
>>
I have been playing a nuzloc with level caps for like 2 months now on and off on my phone (Heart gold version).

Leveling pokemon after one dies is really really really lame, but other then that I would say it's the only way to have fun with Pokemon as an adult. Got 2 more badges to go then the elite four again then 16 gyme rematches then finally red himself.
>>
>>748611272
Ask
>>>/vp/
>>
>>748613289
All nuzlocks assume you are using level caps retard.
>>
>>748613641
why would a normal person need to know that minutia, retard
>>
I did a black 1 nuzlocke a while back. Ended up dying to the final bosses last mon. I was so pissed.
>>
>>748613752
Why did your ass show up to a thread you know next to nothing about and start running your mouth like you knew something? You took the grain of knowledge you had on the subject, and started making claims like you had a doctorate.

That makes you: a retard
>>
>>748613641
The sole two original rules were permadeath on fainting and you're only allowed to potentially capture the first mon encountered in each area. Every other restriction is a later addition by other people. Just saying "nuzlocke" doesn't tell me anything about which extras a person chooses.
Stupid faggot.
>>
>>748613641
>All nuzlocks assume
Nuzlockes don't assume jack shit unless you're playing a romhack designed around specific rules. The only two mandator rules are dead pokemon stay dead and you only get to catch the first encounter in a new route. That's literally it. Everything else is for you to do whatever you want with it.
>>
>>748613137
>>748613285
People use rare candies for difficulty romhacks because those usually expect you to keep your entire box on the level curve.
>>
pokemon requiring 15 different handicaps to be interesting shows how crappy the games are.
>>
>>748614467
Doesn't leveling up exclusively with candies result in terrible stat growth?
>>
>>748614528
these are games meant to be beaten by 6 year olds, of course they're piss easy if you don't make them harder through rules
maybe someone should make pokemon but for real gamers
>>
>>748614603
No but you will miss out on EVs (i.e. stat bonuses you get from defeating pokemon). Those are often disabled from both the player and opponent in difficulty romhacks.
>>
>>748614603
Yes but only your ev stat growth, however you can level up normally like 3 times and it will catch you up to where you are supposed to be.
>>
Nuzlocking the new released blind was the most fun I've had with pokemon by far, but SV was basically un-nuzlockable. I hope they go back to linear games, but I know that will never happen.
>>
I still play pokemon with the ability to switch pokemon after you defeat one kek.
I don't see the point of making it harder than it needs to be for myself.
>>
>>748614378
I'd honestly say forced nicknames are more important than first encounter only
I think first encounter only contributes more to nuzlocke enjoyment since it forces you to use what you get, but forcing nicknames is really that powerful for making you get attached to your guys
>>
Can the harder romhacks ever compare to a fun nuzlocke run?
>>
I like city names
>>
>>
>>748615235
>Saitama
>wait why is OPM there
>Saitama is an actual city in Japan
huh, well then
>>
Tbh I don't think I'd enjoy playing a Nuzlocke without items. I'd like to say it's a handicap since I never played competitive and desu don't even remember the whole type chart let alone mixed types.
>>
>>748614891
First encounter is always a lot of fun for me. I like when I can plan ahead for how to route certain Pokemon depending on whether I get lucky early or not. I also play with rare candies which encourages me to bring the strange random normal or poison types to see what they can do
>>
>>748615553
the issue with using items is that they're very easily exploitable and can turn your game into a slog if you lean that way
as long as you have self restraint and you're able to fix the 'rules' to your liking it's fine though
>>
>>748615701
Absolutely, I can see why higher level people don't use them, and I'd be lying if I said I haven't ran into situations where I'm having to constantly full heal and pray for a miss, but I also think better players just wouldn't get into those situations in the first place and I normally play mostly blind
>>
>>748614795
The base games are already piss easy. You might as well be clicking through a slideshow at that point. Why remove the only thing that makes the games challenging at all?
>>
>>748615553
>>748615701
My rule for item useage is if the enemy trainer uses 1 then I can use one. So it really only ever comes up for rival fights/gym leaders and elite 4
>>
>>748613289
pokemon multiplayer is a joke too, anon
>>
>>748615341
You're surprised by that, but not half the team being
>Alolan Sandslash
>Pyroar
>Toucannon
>>
>>748611272
>>>/vp/
>>
>>748616013
It's Unbound. Most romhacks these days feature a bunch of post gen 3 mons
>>
>this was barely a Nuzlocke to begin with
>we can only catch one mon per area
>but I get to choose wihch one I will catch so I'm going to keep trying to get an Abra and will keep retrying after it inevitably teleports away
>>
When I played Platinum as a kid I just brute forced every opponent with Torterra. He got so powerful that he would 1 shot the Elite 4.
>>
>>748615818
>but I also think better players just wouldn't get into those situations in the first place
items are good in every situation which is the main issue because they're always the best option whenever any kind of risk is involved, this is especially true if you're playing blind
>>
>>748616097
Unbound was such a dick of a game... The gym gimmicks wore out early and some of the fights just felt obnoxious like that bitch with the Zapdos
>>
>>748616231
Starter mons were always intended to be some of the strongest in the whole game
>>
>>748616097
Menu looks like gen 5 to me, until I notice those.
>>
>>748611272
Platinum is so ass
>>
>>748616248
I didn't have an issue with unbound, the only shit fight in that game was against the real team leader with his klefki. Wouldn't have posed a problem but you need to manage the retarded AI partner with his shitmons, that segment alone brings the game down from a 8 to a 5/10
>>
>>748616268
*leaf storms you*
>yep. another job well done, torterra my friend.
>>
What are the best hacks for gen 4? Preferably ones that don't run on shitty ds roms
>>
Honest question: how does it work for caves with different monsters on each floor? Let's say I am nuzlocking and just entered mt. moon. Am I locked out from paras unless I use a repel on the first floor?
>>
>>748617257
I always treat the entire cave as a single area
But nobody's stopping from modifying the rules how you want
