Capcom took heavy inspirations from Fromsoft design and writing, attention to details, and they somehow managed to sandwich the metaphysical and physical, philosophical and psychology, Fantasy and Sci-Fi, Fairy Tale shit, mythical mythos etc world creation stuff, elitist cabal conspiracy against humankind, over the top wild shit AND somehow managed to anchor it back down, grounding it with realism and hard science to explain all that the weird shit's happening, there's so much fucking classical style + modern style yet so much substance too. It's fucking kino, we will never, ever, get this RE back now that Leon is fucking back. Moving on it's gonna be fucking self-indulgent Bollywood trash and animay writing style over substance from 9 onwards.RE8 not only has the strongest virus / mutation, mythical, biblical, metaphysical, reality warping primordial origin "virus", and the origin story of Umbrella itself, but also the best fucking written MC of them all. Ethan is not a special snowflake unlike all the other animay MC. He didn't know he was "special" until the very end, and it was a profound reveal, a "spiritual walk" sort of journey at the end there. And unlike the other MCs, Ethan sacrificed himself to kill "God" to save the world. The most sacred and honorable thing a man could do. Ethan actually fucking achieved CHIM in the Godhead and retained his Soul Identity / DNA within the Megamycete's "faux" pool of collective consciousness and he used it to kill it and its emanation, Miranda. It's like killing Lorkhan and Dagoth Ur, which acts like the Moon Presence and Gehrman, representing the Demiurge and its emmisary, the leader of the elite cabal. This kind of writing is unprecedented in Capcom, and I'm glad they learnt something from Fromsoft. RE8 is the best RE outside the OG Classics.
