It's fine. Nothing mind blowing, story is meh. Hogwarts is cool, but there's way too few secrets to find / explore inside which sucks. It's a mostly big empty game with merlin trials which are kind of stupid and repetitive. The broom is the only thing worth getting around the map on, the mounts are pointless. The combat is OK, but it's kind of silly I'm executing hundreds if not thousands of dark wizards as a literal student at hogwarts. Overall it's a 7/10, probably the best harry potter game ever made but that's not saying much.

I tried to seriously engage with all of its systems and all of them are just too superficial and superfluous for me to warrant picking the game up again. Every single time I remember the game and get the tiniest urge to start up my old save file (don't even know whether I still have it) or a new game, I remember how utterly shallow it is in every single aspect that I would want out of a Harry Potter game except most of the visuals. The combat is cooldown spam where you, after you figured out a basic bread and butter combo, will simply rotate it over and over for every encounter like you're playing an MMO. The characters are flat and plastic and so utterly inoffensive in their behavior. For instance, students bullying each other and forming bitter rivalries over house loyalties like in the books or movies isn't really a thing and what's left of it has been severely watered down. The game also does a very piss poor job at actually giving you the feeling that you're a student at Hogwarts. You have introductory lessons for each subject and then it doesn't get brought up again. No schedule to keep, no need to juggle your responsibilities at school with your personal goals that might make you miss classes so you have to sneak out at night in order to fulfill a task you couldn't complete otherwise or risk detention because you missed too many classes. The game doesn't even have much to do with Hogwarts itself after you saw the introductory cutscenes for all the classes and solved the Hogwarts puzzles. You're just a mass murderer who spends most of their time flying around the countryside or the dark forest visiting each hamlet until there is nothing to do anymore. It's so unabashedly Ubisoft in its design short of being an actual Ubisoft game. So yeah, if a 6 buck walking/broom flying simulator is enough for you to just look at pretty environments, go ahead.
