Do you guys care about AI code in videogames?

If I see the AI disclaimer on the game's page I immediately mark it as Ignored. I wish they'd let us filter them out already.

AI is extremely jewish and indian, so naturally I am against it

Last time I got into a shitfight about AI on steam I got a three month ban. I'm unbanned on the 26th

>Do you guys care about AI code in videogames?
Ideally, games would be coded by hand. But the reality is that everyone's using AI now and that AI has become actually competent more recently.

People who *still* piss and shit themselves about AI need to be studied. Somehow I think it might be related to the various other derangement syndromes you see in the world today.
>>
>>749214226
You got banned for being a retard, not for talking about AI.

No I got banned for calling a guy having a reddit tier bitch fit about AI "squirt"

If you care at all, you're Reddit coded. You would've still liked a lot of things if you were never told about AI usage.
>>
>>749214162
nta but in the IT company i work, the entire jeet department has been nuked. indians using ai is a meme, theyre the ones getting replaced by it most easily.
>>
>>749213960
That’s the same as asking
>do you care about bloated filesize and poor performance in video games
Of course I do. I can just never tell if it’s because of sloppers, jeets, or jeet sloppers.
>>
Yes. The game's code is its literal foundation and if you half-assed it then you lost all of my interest. I couldn't care less about people using AIslop for some generic textures, icons or generic char potraits but if you vibe coded any major game elements you're getting raped
>>
>>749213960
i try to use AI but is the code is so shit and redundant, and what is worse... sometimes the code is inauditable. i discovered that the best way to get the best of AI is by using HITL because if you leave AI in their own it will generate you a code that "gets the job done" but if you look inside is filled with safeguards. I think were AI shines the best is at "gluing" things made by human, so basically i write the algorythms and then i ask the AI to glue things
>>
>>749213960
I don't care if they use it but it is good to know so I knkw what to expect in terms of bugginess and future updates
>>
if you didn't care to make it, I don't care to play it
>>
>>
I genuinely don't know why "AI bad" Because kids are generating quick slop? It's so powerful for certain tasks that not using it is just a handicap because you have an ego.
>>
>>749214094
There are retard muddying the waters already like a game being marked for AI usage because the developer used some sort of spellchecker that uses AI.
People keep doing shit like this and the AI warning will get ignored.
>>
>>749214728
Because there's already tons of cheaply made shovelware made by clueless retards and I don't want more of it.
>>
>>749213960
>Do you guys care about AI code in videogames?
Suppose we let code slide. Now the former coders wont give a shit about AI assets. Then sound effects, voice acting, music, modelling, textures one by one get SLOPPED and every time there's less resistance to the next move because those guys have already checked out.
>>
We shouldn't let shit code slide, but we shouldn't have psychotic bitch fits the second we see something made with AI as if it were made by the darkest jeet to ever crawl from their shit river. There's fundamentally nothing wrong with AI art except that an arrogant niggerfaggot artist didn't get paid to make the art instead.
>>
People didn't reject being more glued to social media than real life and they sure ain't gonna reject use of AI, something that actually has some practical benefit in its use.
>>
>>749214819
So because someone might use it to make shitty games we can simply ignore you don't want to use it at all?
>>
>>749214728
>why do people not want more shit shoved down their thorat?
>>
>>749214926
It's being used to make nothing but shit, and this will be its fate. Proof: the fact that AIniggers only scream how they're superior because they make slop quickly and cheaply and thus can "replace" people. Effort or talent are never mentioned, instead scoffed at.

>>
>>749213960
I don't really mind. It's a tool like any other and just like any tool, it can be misused and abused. The problem is that codelet retards publish vibe coded garbage to make a quick buck. So yes, I'm wary of it and actively avoid AI coded projects but the use of AI to code in itself, I don't mind.

I think it’s not ideal but at the same time it’s a pretty damn good learning tool. There’s a lot of mental reinforcement left to do and all but it gave me a good rundown of how to work most of Unity. It also helps a lot with working on scripting understanding parts I haven’t worked with before. I fear over reliance though so I’ve been mostly using it as a better search engine instead of trawling Stack Overflow or the Unity documentation.

Yes. I buy games because I can't make them myself. The developers have the skills, time and resources to create a good game that I lack. That's what I'm paying for.

The only thing I care about is data centers. It just doesn't make sense to build them in the middle of towns when it's not like they need a local customer base or a ton of workers anyway. It's extremely easy to tell who actually works as a developer in these threads and who doesn't
Everyone, literally every single developer working on any piece of software today, has a GitHub Copilot Enterprise subscription that their company is paying out the ass for, and is using it because their company is pushing for adoption and wants to increase how much work can get done every sprint
Anyone who tells you they're not using AI as a coding tool is either a hobbyist or is lying to you. I can personally assure you that if you're using a piece of software that was put out in the last year or are using any going forward, AI was used to write code for it
>>
>>749216525
>We're talking about real games that are being shafted because they dare use tools that cut out pointless tedium

Just like game engines do a lot of work for you, AI will too. The struggle is the same: how to take advantage of those tools without losing touch with the basics. When shit goes down, those with knowledge will be able to solve anything.

So yeah, AI has come to stay as a tool.
>>
>>749213960
For videogames, AI isn't worse than what people have been doing for decades - bashing random photos, using random asset store codeblocks and models and just half-assed copy and pasting shit off StackOverflow without even testing if it works.
This shit industry is built on incompetent retards cutting as many corners as humanly possible, and has been since the PS3 generation.

I care in the sense that I don't buy 99.99% of dogshit modern games slapped together cheaply by money grubbing retards. AI doesn't really increase that ratio.
More layoffs, more restructures, let this fucking industry burn and every lazy retard in it be forced to actually contribute to society.
>>
AI jeet code is exactly why so many games are so buggy and require one million patches now. If you advocate for it you are a genuine retard.
>>
>>749216752
I'm not 100% sure but I think the post is saying that the same dev made the mod AND the game, and used AI in both of them.
>>
If you use AI to code it is more likely to be of inferior quality and cause problems. Does that necessarily matter? No. But I will definitely judge any game I haven't verified the quality of by whether there is AI involved in coding, especially if it is an online game.

Do you remember New World? The MMORPG. Massive budget and marketing. Was absolutely cratered by the terrible coding that allowed completely breaking exploits of various different types. Imagine if that game was made today, with vibe coding. That's what I think about when I think 'AI-coded online game'.

Yes we have been using nodes for the last 10 years now.
>>
No, because AI code doesn't stifle/replace human creativity or ingenuity. It creates something that is deterministic and can be reviewed for function and accuracy so if a human that actually understands what they're getting back from AI has input on the matter it can greatly speed things along.

I do think QA should primarily be human-driven, though.

But that's never how the shills are trying to sell it. They sell it as a route to the cheapest, easiest, sloppiest, laziest garbage imaginable with the promise that it'll Make You Rich/Famous, because they're all a bunch of jews and that's the only kind of appeal they can understand. The inherent value of making something better is completely alien to their mind.

And while it might be true in some abstract sense that this technology COULD be leveraged to do this, to promote elegance, efficiency, and quality, the ocean of bloated git commits and constant spaghetti vomit infecting every codebase tells a different story of what it's actually doing. Which is of course by design, because the technology itself is inherently jewish, this is how it was designed to work.

The purpose of a system is what it does. What this system does is enables you to shit out a barely functional minimum viable product faster than you could before. Therefore, that is its purpose.
>>
>>749218307
That's exactly why people who are AI preachers love it. It creates the vision for them because they actually have no talents themselves.
>>
>>749218326

>Do you have infinite time available, nigger?
Not the point.

Games used to look like Crysis at 12GB of size and run at 100FPS on a 780. I've never seen a single fucking person explain how AI coding is enabling them to get that kind of quality output. Surely it can be used in this way, right? Surely a generic "force multiplier" should be usable to turn an investment of time into a far greater quality of output, rather than reducing the investment of time needed for an output of comparable quality?

Surely the advantage to us, as the people playing video games, should be that we are seeing file sizes drop, frame rates increase, visual quality improve, and hardware requirements decline? Because this magic "force multiplier" technology is enabling passionate developers to do more within the confines of the business reality of making games, thus enabling a renaissance of exceptional programming skill?

When mass automation hit the manual trades, quality was on offer. There was outrage over losing the artisanal touch of human craftsmanship, the care and passion put into every contour and edge, but at least what we got was materials that were too robust to be handled with hand tools. Machine precision and tolerances no human eye could match. Jewel precision that could eclipse the handiwork of even the most talented craftsman. We traded artistry for quality. Now we're trading artistry for IKEA and being promised that the value is that we can be IKEA too and get rich selling our own shoddy furniture.

What part of "It lets you trivialize boring tasks by automating them" you don't understand? I'm starting to realize I'm talking to a nocoder, hence someone that doesn't know how programming actually works.

Skilled programmers are using it to get more shit done in less time. Things that previously required you hours or days of bugfixing can be reduced to just minutes because the AI correctly recognized the issue firsthand.
>>749219665 actually made a good example, but you conveniently ignored that too.
Saving time is ENTIRELY the point for fucks sake.
You never worked on a large project by yourself and it shows, otherwise you'd know the dread of getting stuck into some dead-end bug and shifting through stackoverflow threads and forums, or reading manuals to try and understand what the fuck is going on for days.

>Surely a generic "force multiplier" should be usable to turn an investment of time into a far greater quality of output, rather than reducing the investment of time needed for an output of comparable quality?
People have stated mutliple times that the main advantage is that it makes you save time so you can focus on what really matters.
You're the only one making the argument that it can theoretically transform idiots in geniuses, which is unironically what AIbros and nocoders think.

It's a tool to automate work, the same way photoshop was used to automate drawing and photo editing, the same way the press was used to automate book and articles output.
how the tool is used depends entirely on the user, and if the user is an absolute retard there's only so much the AI can do to tardwrangle the result.
>>
>>749216238
Retard. LLMs also don't waste resources by that logic as you can use a basic shit model on your local hardware. The best image models also need huge amounts of resources. Just because state of the art LLMs are used more and arguably waste more individually doesn't make image gen ecofriendly.

Nothing. I understand it exactly. It's jewish by nature. A tool for "improving efficiency". You'll generate more value with less labor. That's the promise. Better quality? Who cares. That's ancillary. What matters is it makes it easier and quicker to do it good enough.

That's been my point this whole time.

>the same way photoshop was used to automate drawing and photo editing
For a long time, photoshop's main draw was that it enabled you to do things that couldn't be done with other tools. It enabled a degree of accuracy in image doctoring that was simply not possible without it. Maybe these days "it's faster" is the sales pitch, I don't know, but when it was novel, it was impressive because it enabled you to make pictures that only illustrators could have theretofore produced, but with a level of fidelity indistinguishable from a photograph. Quality was the promise.

Do movie directors not make movies? A prompt is a direction. A human makes the direction, and therefore the end result is made by them.

pretty much this
>b-but it just translations!!
I don't belive you. For reference, see the new ubislop moba March of Giants (or somethinglike this): they state that they used AI for "some translations" only but their promo gifs at the same steam page are clearly slopped as fuck. The pool with a turd in it automatically becomes a shit pool. Not that I expect for Indians to care

>>
>>749222528
No, it is not the same. Director control quality and everything at the stage. You prompting the bobot to "make me good" and then decide that you are fine with the result. If you don't see the difference and not just shilling, try to make something yourself in your life just once
>>
>>749222574
Ubisoft made something... bad??? That would happen with or without ai. That's not the ai's fault. That's ubisoft
>>
>>749222528
Movie directors don't make movies alone. You still have the effort of actors, set designers, effect artists, etc. And these people do matter. You can break a movie just by having bad acting in it.
>>
>>749213960
One could argue it won't be optimized, stable or free of bugs or potential exploits the malicious variety. But then you look at the actual turboslop that get released nowadays, and the difference is so marginal as to not even be noticeable.

Directors only tell what actors do. Cinematographers are in charge of camerawork and technique. Composers do the music. Then there's the script writers, script supervisors, key grips, set designers, producers, executive producers, line producers, etc.

Yes, but the games with great/unique ideas baked in (ideas from a human brain) will rise to the top alongside those AAA titles.

Games haven't been made without AI for about 6 years now, and now the AI is actually good enough to do customer facing tasks. AAA, AA, indie, all of it. By this time next year AI will be the most important thing in every studio, as opposed to being the most important thing in most studios. Shit is what it is, man. This happened to where I work as well. The first one we got rid of were Rajesh et al. We have people from Slovakia or Slovenia I don't know which, a few from the Netherlands and the datacenters in Frankfurt, that's it. If anything, AI has been jeet exodus. Of course there's a lot of jeet AI users, because there's a billion jeet online, but IT has always been jeet territory and is currently being genocided, because the majority of them is getting replaced and outside work they can't afford it.
I also think the "ai code is unreadable" meme is something propagated by techlets who never read production code. It's always been shit because people just stop caring after a while. It's true that Astra writes ugly ass code you wouldn't want to merge, but it's not undeadable by any means and Opus now genuinely writes better looking code than most humans.
Also, AI code is very easily auditable. It looks like they make more mistakes than humans but their mistakes are very concentrated around a few ai-typical issues while human mistakes are spread around everything. For example, I've never read an ai code without swallowed exceptions, but precisely that's why it's very easy to fix, you know what to look for.
I kind of understand the hate against ai because people who think it's like some omnipotent Lain shit that oneshots anything without a mistake are retarded and suffering from ai psychosis but calling ai written code bad or anything jeet-like is just pure delusion at this point.

Of course they're extremely bothered when they see people who have the courage to at least try instead of looking for excuses.

I used it last year. I was asked at work to debug a program on Powerbuilder, despite telling them I have never programed on PB before and asked AI for help.
Despite me querying I was asking advice for Power Builder specifically, I kept getting results for other languages that weren't compatible with it.
It was really frustrating.
In my personal life I only use AI for educational purposes. I.e: If I don't understand a concept or how a program should look like, I may ask it to visualize a model for me before drafting a design.

Because someone who is against AI will avoid an otherwise good looking game if it was made with AI, and you can't do that if you can't inspect everything that could possibly be made with AI, which is everything at this point, so you need them to be abundantly transparent. No need to. Windows, Linux and MacOS are all developed with AI. IDEs and game development tools all have AI integration even if it's just for autocomplete, and/or are outright made with AI. At some point you needed AI or something made with AI to develop your game unless you haven't updated your tools in ages. Your playstation/switch/whatever firmware probably has AI code too. I think a lot of young people (born 2010+) really don't appreciate just how crap most art really is. If you only came online in the 20teens then you benefitted massively from everyone who came before you and who already curated decades of media for you to consume, and from the current content creators who benefitted maybe from known successful templates, you didn't have to actually live in those previous decades and withstand the sheer mountains of absolute dogshit to get to the gems. So everything looks like gems, hit after hit, and then AI comes out and looks like the same dogshit we've always been wading through, but you've never seen dogshit so it feels like this is a new low bar when really, it's par for the course.

Your kids are being raised on AI slop btw. Taught by it, entertained by it, outsourcing their thoughts to it. You know we knew that social media was toxic even when it was new? But the social media companies just ignored the push back and now they run the world, and they didn't need to do anything.

Because the degradation of programming knowledge has led to the inexcusable bloat and performance rot of modern software and I hate it. I hate that enough memory to run a supercomputer in 1999 can't run the Steam UI because modern devs can only do UX in fucking Chromium. I hate that you need a graphics card that would have been indistinguishable from magic in 2006 to run games at a quarter of the framerate that look worse in 2026. I hate that studio credits have ballooned from a dozen people to 1200 but we still get more crashes, more day 1 mandatory patches to enable basic functionality, and more catastrophic data loss while actual game functionality shrinks generation by generation into a paste of lowest common denominator slop.

I care because making good video games is an art form, above and beyond just producing models or textures or music, and it's becoming a lost art form as an army of shit-reeking brown opportunists use the slopbot to churn out endless approximations of competence. I don't know about the rest of you dumbass frogs but I feel the fucking pot getting warmer and my ass wants out now before I see the boil start.

Every job values saving time because saved time means either being done early or doing more work and getting paid more. When you pay someone to build a house, you don't tend to pay by the hour but for the finished house.

So then we just go back to AI, can AI write good code? The answer is yes. Then the question: can a prompt for code be faster than writing by hand? Yes. Then we're simply back to the assertion: a real dev can make a real game with AI and the answer is yes.

Absolutely hilarious because AI is anti-bloat, LLMs can write a completely zero-dependency replacement for Wordpress that runs 100x faster. LLM agents also love optimizing things, they'll spend hours writing tests and scenarios to make pathfinding 1% faster.

Sure! Let me try again, this time being slightly less confrontational:

You Anons need to realize that AI is not to be feared. Instead, instead it should be celebrated. Imagine the possibilities that people with lesser backgrounds can achieve and the milestones that we can reach... But that will only happen when we all embrace chance. So stop hating on your "vibecoding" peers and encourage them!
>>
>>749228669
Agents do whatever you ask it to do, that includes having the Agents.md: "you write the minimal amount of code required to achieve the task, use a blind second code reviewer that scrutinizes every line of code added for bloat". You wouldn't understand.

AI is currently useful in many shallow aspects of workflow and for generating ideas through dialogue.

its getting better with novel environments, where no instructions are provided.

>>
>>749229168
You're literally not faster than frontier models unless you're writing so little code that it takes longer for the agent to review the project than it takes you to make a change. At which time I question why you have a job if you're changing a line of text here and there.

No anon Fruity Loops is not litcherly the same thing as AI generation. You saw an actual tool, a device used to enable creation that doesn't work without motion and skill on the user's part, and got confused trying to parallel it to an engine that only accepts verbal input and does everything else
>>
