is it really that weird for people to be threatened by a technology that is massively gatekept by the elites (as local models as constant playing catch-up and the market leaders try to regulate them out of existence), threatens to disrupt the labor market, thus potentially ruining countless of livelihoods, and is already automating the soul out of artistic endeavors?

We've been able to make custom Mario 64 levels for more than 20 years and it only gets easier and easier to do over time. Mario 64 already has a PC port made from the fanmade decompilation (which predates LLMs being able to code) and is entirely unbound by hardware limitations. It has a million character mods with custom movesets and online play. What does AI add to this equation? We already had a Sonic in SM64 mod, even.

I'm not a complete doomer about AI (although I'm not giving Anthropic a dime, I'll wait for the open-weight Chinese models to catch up a couple years from now so I can do it for 1/100th the cost) but you sound like an unironic paid shill who knows nothing about the scene you're shilling to. Melee decomp getting finished with Claude? Great. That MW2 Skate mod? Great, that probably wouldn't exist without LLMs due to neither game being decompiled. But you're shilling things humans have been able to do for a long time.

Second all of these supposed emulations or mods aren't useable without jumping through 50 hoops as even though they are clearly ripping off the game they don't want to be too unethical and thus instead of a fun rom site it is retarded github and then you have to find the rest of the exodia pieces on your own.

Low IQ trannoid too stupid to realize all of those are free online services, so third worlders use them.

There will be tranny minecraft servers where all the mods are human made and there will be normal servers where 99% of the mods are human made but 1% is AI made so no troon touches it.

>>
I mean the fact that AI can now be used to de-compile and merge games from TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT programing languages like picrel Minecraft and Skyrim is almost borderline tech sorcery.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRT3MyFwgu0

I mean I don't what is going to happen, but this could actually be the ONE thing AI could benefit gamers.
>>
>>749270674
The next step will be doing these types of things with purpose. It's a fun novelty going 32 v 32 on a map designed for 8 v 8 but it has no longevity if that's all it is. All the people raving about it right now will move on in a week to the next toy and rightfully so unless real designers start taking the lead and that probably takes time. A good design plan that is fun and makes sense is the one thing AI needs a human for (for now)
>>
>>749269627

>>
Kind of sad that with this so-called "super intelligence" there's not yet been one good game made by an AI, weird that huh?

>>
>>749270818

>>
>>749270868
It does more then that, it has completely redone scripting engine for things like added weapon slots, BSP/map compiling, abilities, entity interactions and so much more and super optimized even a potato can run it. Its not unreal to say you could use this as a engine unto itself

>>

https://github.com/ProjectReclaimer/project-reclaimer-releases/releases/tag/v0.9.7
>>
>>749271234
That's what I mean, you can have a billion cool features but they will all be a short lasting novelty unless there's deliberate design behind it, which is the stuff that makes people go back to it for years. Like that map you linked, at first glance it looks like someone just made a big empty field and added a bunch of planes and heavy vehicles to it? That's not how the classic mp map designers went about things

Brown people love AI because it's just replication over innovation. While a white man will focus on having fun by exploring all the possibilities something has to offer, in order to satisfy his desire to discover new things, the brown man will only replicate what he sees in the moment and do what others say and will never innovate or discover anything new, because his brain is just not capable of that. It will absolutely do that. I fully expect someone to release a cracked Adobe source code or even Windows.
Those decomps were made for games built for different architectures than x86_64, so I guess software compiled for the most used architecture in the world would be even easier to recompile.

I'm a Claude hater, but really, it's just because it's not for me. I'm more of a Gemini or ChatGPT kinda guy. I favor Gemini more, but until Gemini 4 Argon launches; it's just not that great. I got a free year of Gemini Pro because I got a Pixel phone, so that was pretty nice. I probably wouldn't pay $20 a month for any AI subscription service. I considered doing it for ChatGPT just so I could use Sol and Astra, but that's $240 a year on an AI subscription. Claude feels like the "reddit" of the AI companies. I don't like the font or UI layout either that they went with. A black background with white text is classic and easy to read. I don't like the way Claude answers questions either. You can ask it to give more context and detail, but it doesn't format answers like ChatGPT and Gemini do. Maybe I'm autistic, but I like a lot of detail and information in my responses. Claude just gives you short answers. Grok is just as bad in it's formatting.

I will admit ChatGPT still has the best natural sounding voice mode. It sounds like you're having a conversation with another person in the room with you or on the phone. Gemini Live is alright, but not quite on the level of ChatGPT.

Gemini just needs to hurry up and launch Gemini 4 Argon to the public.

Glad to see grifters and journos are in maximum overdrive. KCD 2 or Cyberpunk 2077 released with no DRM and i don't think their headquarters exploded. Maybe it will force studios to think about simultaneous PC release more carefully. But the studios have access to these tools too.

There is a horde of normies who only have a PS5 and no device that's strong enough to play these ports. Sure you could release a stripped down version that runs on a phone or shit laptop, but are the normies really gonna go out of their way to play like that?

Not to mention multiplayer games, both F2P and pay to play that are a big chunk of the market, that won't let you play unless you have an authenticated copy.

You could run those on reverse engineered private serves, but again, how big of a chunk of the player base is that gonna be?

>>
>>749274503
I mean, I'm gonna play devil's advocate for your side: best case scenario is that they were impressed back then, quickly got tired of the concept--especially with the frequency of releases, and then pretty much abandoned it completely. That is how you described the situation, and we can pretend that's apt for sake of argument. Now you're expecting them to get re-excited for what's conceptually the same thing, but kinda less because it's generally implemented in-memory and not in-code as a romhack, and automated to where the frequency is infinitely higher than what initially bored them in the first place. Even by your own account of the events, the logic would say they would not care, and that would be their authentic reaction.

And instead I would also just say that people weren't really even all that interested in Mario being in other games to begin with. People were fascinated off of momentum tied to the decomp happening in general, but even then it never really had much traction in the short period when it was getting any focus.

Actually trannies love AI because it let's them generate pictures of themselves as girls.
>>
The real insufferable thing about AI is that, yeah, the similes are pretty apt: AI replacing traditional coding and development is like driving a car instead of riding a horse. It doesn't remove effort, it just means having to put in far less to get more out of it.

The problem is that this also means you get far less respect for what you're doing. I'm not going to respect someone who can drive a car in the same way that I would've someone that rode a horse. That's the whole point: the results are something I can take for granted now, and you didn't actually have to do something hard to get them.

AI-troons just can't accept this. They want to be respected as if they're horseback riders. They want to be seen as skilled and valuable as the Pony Express were in their day, just because they can cross the same distance in their cars pretty easily. It's just not going to happen. The standards have risen. Hell, you're not even driving a manual, you're in your mom's fukken minivan that's an automatic.

The only way you'll get respect now is that if you go to the extreme end of the new standard: becoming the equivalent of a truck hauler or a racecar drive or what have you, and cruising along with your $20 sub and spending less than $5,000 on tokens is just not gonna cut it for that

If AI keeps improving at the rate it has been there won't be any reason to know how to code. You'd be wasting your time learning how to do something that's been completely automated. The biggest drooling retard will be just as capable of producing software as an MIT graduate.
>>
>>749275275
it's not about "soul". when you code something from the ground up you know how the whole system works. you rely too much on AI and you get lost in a bunch of spaghetti you don't understand. something brakes and you don't know how to fix it, so you try to force the AI to come with a solution only do fuck up something else. AI is okay for simple functions but for complex systems you're probably gonna give yourself more headaches down the road rather than save time.

1-2 years from now. The proprietary models will be even better, but given Deepseek 4.1 is currently going $0.09/$0.18 per million input/output tokens respectively, while the new Claude Opus (though obviously far better) costs $4/$20 per million input/output, there's a lot of reason to just use the cheaper one unless what you're doing requires the newest advancements. You can't decompile or port a game with Deepseek right now, but if a Chinese model can do what Opus currently can at 1% of the cost a couple years from now most people would just use that.

You're obviously confusing the fact that "AI can do a lot of things" with "AI can replace me".

Reminder that this IPO is a scam no matter how you feel about Anthropic. Even if Anthropic manages the ultimate moon shot, monopolizes the entire AI market with a cutting edge model nobody can match, captures an enormous new market by getting everyone who hates AI on board with the technology, obliterates their 2:1 debt to earnings ratio, and becomes the most highly valued company in the history of the world, passing NVidia (somehow, because their tech relies on NVidia but let's pretend) and becoming a $6 Trillion behemoth.

Suppose all that happens. If you took the risk and bought in on the day of the IPO because of your long shot belief, and it all came true, you'd have made a 300% ROI. You would have earned more money buying shares in NewEgg (470% ROI 2025). Even if these companies do the impossible, their stock is already valued so fucking highly it has basically nowhere to go but down. The IPO is just exit liquidity for the private equity investors who were paid in shares. Even if the bubble never pops and the company doesn't collapse you're still just a bag holder.

It's no longer about preservation, curiosity, or love of the game. It's an endless series of half-finished repos, pushed by prompters and their machines. Decomp, and its consumption of old games, has become a well-oiled content pipeline.

>Decomp has changed.

AI-generated decomps sit on AI-generated websites, wrapped in AI-generated READMEs. Nobody inside the project understands the code they've committed, only that it compiles. Mostly.

Matching control, attribution control, credit control, Discord control... everything is announced, and nothing is maintained.

>Decomp has changed.

The age of reverse engineering has become the age of the release trailer, all in the name of "bringing the game to modern platforms," and he who posts the first build owns the donation and Patreon links.

>Decomp has changed.

When the last commit is eight months old and the issues tab is on fire, abandonment becomes routine.

70% of current human labor is pointless. Productivity skyrocketed so high with the advent of computing and the internet that we hit the point where ubi was viable decades ago.

No amount of productivity will ever sate the monsters on top. They will never let the bounty of mankind reach you. They will always steal it.

I don't think retro gaming will be truly dead until AI gets powerful enough to do one click decomps within an hour similar to something like makemkv decryption. It's still not there yet.

AI is great at fixing bugs the and it's great it designing code. I'm currently working on a full AI generated replacement for steam input that will create controller profiles based on numerous parameters and will give controller play it just works experience

AI and robotics boost productivity another 500% to insane levels.

Even middling human intelligence has made games so if it's surpassed human intelligence then we should see a decent game or two. It can instantly turn a 2D image into a 3D model that you can print with a 3D printer, but in terms of polygons, it's not very efficient. It takes a human eye to spot polygon errors that need to be fixed in order to avoid blowing out a pc when you're gaming. Same with rigging. But improvements keep happening all the time

>>749288710
Let me serious for a moment. It's less that using a webui is a sin and it's more that you're just being very inefficient. You're extolling the virtues of a technology that you're weilding like a child, you'll have much better results if you stop using such terrible chatbot paradigms. Props for using godot and obsidian tho. Just get off windows and run your agents in parallel git worktrees. Also the app is terrible bloatware, come on man.
>>
>>749289001
This is such a stupid take, this is like the autists trying to tell you to do all your github actions on a terminal rather than just press the magic button on your IDE to do it all for you.
You claim inefficiency but you're the one being inefficient, or maybe you haven't tried the app in years; I'm doing all this, I constantly have multiple actions running all at once, and since it's all in app I can easily switch project and connect whichever app (like linear or obsidian) to it, while you're fiddling with your terminal commands.
The only reason I'm even using the terminal is because this allows me to start codex on different environments and different subscriptions to run all of them in parallel with no problem.

Anyways, get bent and screech more, I'll keep using AI.

Anti-AI people are always saying "nuhh I dont use AI at all I don't do anything with AI" but if they were truly anti-AI they should actually be AI maximalists. Buy a 20 dollar sub to the big AI companies and have them set up scripts that spam out your usage every week. Use as many tokens as possible on the stupidest bullshit you can imagine. Every token wasted is another dollar out of OAI's valuation and accelerates enshittification by another half percent. You and all your friends can cost OAI 30 grand a month and waste all their compute. The bonus is that the more people who do this, the worse the experience gets for everyone which will inevitably drive people out of using AI. If you hate AI you need to be an accelerationist and use it as much as possible for whatever inane reason you can think of.

AI companies aren't making this shit for "the good of mankind", they doing it TO MAKE MONEY. When there's mass unemployment because every job has been replaced with AI, there still won't be a crumb of consideration for UBI.
And you know why? That money has to come from somewhere, and when everyone is unemployed and on UBI, that money is all coming from the rich. They'll be almost directly paying themselves with their own money.
