>Finally play Lost Odyssey with the recomp>It's good but with some flawsI'm on Disc 2 right now and got Sarah, went through the cave and am now in the cursed merchant town. The soundtrack is great, especially the battle theme, I never get tired listening to it. I like that you need a little more strategy than brute forcing it with attacks and you need to use buff/debuffs or elemental magic with your mages to stand a chance, but I hate how once you level up in a specific area, the EXP you get is just so low, like single digits, that you start running away from every battle just so you can have more resources to deal with the bosses. Also the base stats for defense are fixed so you can't equip any armor, so it feels annoying having to deal with enemies that do tons of damage unless you slowly grind or use so much MP to try and kill them fast. When I first played the game I started with the JP dub but the game's lipsynchs to the fucking English language so I changed it back and besides Kaim and the two annoying brats, I also really like Jansen's VA, he's the best character by far with his banter. The short stories are great on their own, but it's clearly different with how the game presents itself. Why didn't Sakaguchi let the novelist write the stories entirely? Also I give zero shits about Gongora, one of the most forgettable villains by far. Story should've been like an immortal such as Kaim on his journey with his grand children traveling for an important cause and the interactions they have along the way. This game is easily way better than Blue Dragon which I dropped and got bored with several hours in.

Cooke is mediocre, Mack exists solely to kill metal slimes and nothing else, the one you get after this is the worst party member in the game and better served handing the weapon over to Kaim or Seth, and then the final one is the best one due to having Double Item as their innate ability. Not major spoilers or anything but that covers the rest of the mortals if you don't want to be spoiled.
