Its not about 3k as a number but if 90% of people can get 3k, and 0.1% can get the titles that means if you are just a slightly above average player you have NOTHING to aim for.A lot of people who at least claim to be similar above average but not .1% players seem to think the recent changes are good, now they can get 3k mounts and cheevos putting in the same they did before. They *want* these modes to be a challenge, and then they want the feather in their cap of achieving them, they just don't want it to be hard. Basically, it's a disingenuous whine about being glad they can get a participation trophy. I guess I do not mind that entirely, because the players who actually care about actually pushing the limit will do so on their own without reward, entirely using stats on third party websites to determine if they are up to snuff or not. Speaking from experience once you hit a certain threshold in wow (or any game) stuff like 3k mounts and elite sets become trivial and the TRUE test of skill is entirely measuring yourself against other top level players, none of whom give a shit about potential FOMO because they care about the gameplay (shocker) not the collectathon. However, there is also something to be said about having rewards there for those players in game, transmog has killed armor being able to do this, but at least for a while at the start of the patch you can tell who the true gamer elite are based on having certain mounts early in the season before all the boosts get cheap, and that was cool, it made the game feel more alive to see the accomplishments of others in the world like that.
