On my way down the mountain I noticed a gate off to the side of the road. Curiosity took hold and it puppeteered my body into combat with centaurs and ghouls, even as my pip boy's geiger counter began crackling. And my reward? A field of bunkers-- No, not bunkers. Tombs. A graveyard. Broken vents in the ground were hotspots of radiation and glowing ones crouched around them like survivors warming up at a campfire. Reactor meltdown maybe. One bunker housed a scavenger couple and their kid. We stared each other down in silence with our hands hovering at our holsters until the woman spoke. We broke bread and I took a breather. NCR ranger skeletons and ghoul trooper corpses were piled up in a corner. I'm heading back to Jean Sky Diving.

Turns out the NCR up on that mountain were trying to combat radiation sickness. For all their efforts, experimenting on ghouls and super mutants, they've come up with these 'experimental' rad-x pills. The capsules are a single tone of yellowish off-white, not that candy red/yellow of normal rad-x. They're also not safe to take alone, but I found out that mixing them in with a few bottles of irradiated water purifies the water. The soldiers also carry syringes of a kind of sedative or something. It helps. As if I didn't already have enough reasons to take out these guys.

It basically achieves all of the gameplay features DUST wanted, but not shit, in a winter setting. The automatron patch also makes creating robot companions/settlers a viable feature and is very fun too. DUST was bleak and despite the story being told non-linearly, the game was actually laser focused on its storyline, which was effectively just masturbatory fanfiction about how Courier 6 ended the world and how every single faction was irredeemably evil anyway and deserved it. That bleakness also translated into the world and level design, which was all dark (literally) and covered in a pink fart filter. In contrast, FROST is almost colorful with how the environment pops so well with the white backdrop of the irradiated killer blizzards and the game feels almost hopeful. Like one day this world - even if you divorced it from the fallout setting and knowing how it'll end up - could get better.

I decided to make tranquilizer ammo for the .22LR guns (which the varmint rifle falls under in the Jsawyer Ultimate mod) to try and be sort-of pacifist. It's effectively re-skinned incendiary ammo, only instead of fire damage it's fatigue damage. Crafted via 16 .22 bullets and 1 med-x (gives 16 tranq rounds). Inflicts 51 fatigue damage a second for 15 seconds. Knocks enemies out in about 5 seconds, keeps em down for about 40. Someone else made a mod that lets you loot stunned/unconscious people, and combined the tranq rounds are kinda fucking broken. Just tranq, strip, headshot, repeat. I'm trying to figure out the best way to balance it. I'm leaning towards simply requiring 1 med-x per tranquilizer round.

I personally don't think either a desolate setting or an overgrown setting would be desirable, you could maybe have little pockets of either depending on the context of a location (like perhaps it has wild creatures that prevent humanity from pushing into an area, or its just so heavily irradiated like the Glowing Sea that it just has to be abandoned). I think aside from the lack of floral and tree vegetation, FO4's North-East portion is pretty close to what I'd like to see, Pre-War and Post-War human structures are still clearly visible and anywhere that humanity still has a presence would very easily be keeping encroaching plant life at bay, but you'd also see smaller structures like parklands where there are no larger buildings or roads being reconquered by the nature around them.
I think the reason why Bethesda took the show to the west coast is because Bethesda did jack-shit in terms of originality in the east coast. Their games are creatively bankrupt.

Most of them were cut down by 9mm bullets but they were too hungry to be afraid. Then I heard gunshots coming from their side and the blonde stopped firing his smg. I mopped up the rest of the melee fighters with the lady and we split up to take out the sniper. That was the last time I ever saw her. Got the drop on the gunman after moving behind a tent and delivered a nine to his forehead. He had some kind of energy sniper rifle.

What exactly is Mr House’s plan?He’s stuck in a tower and has a bunch of robots he can control. But that’s it. He can’t actually build anything. He doesn’t appear to have any plans to actually build a society. Once New Vegas is fully his, is he going to build schools? Housing projects? Is his plan to just use the robots to maintain control over casino profits then have robots force the people with access to the caps to then pay people to do things like build infrastructure and other shit? The implication is that he’s going to create a new nation state that’s going to restart industry and become the most advanced state in the wasteland but all he has done thus far is intimidate tribals into running themed casinos and then hoping that they’ll actually let him use the money in their vaults to bribe/intimidate other people into also doing things for him

You can do just enough to work towards a high industrial society. The games don't convey it well, but people are getting educated in Uni level stuff somewhere, so academies exist. Potentially he could start poaching NCR academics. He used to run RobCo, he's familiar with hustling.

Not sure how all of this will turn out. I know they aren't happy about the scouting parties the Elder basically turned his back on saving too. I do think the scared Elder had good intentions, (especially after meeting Elijah and sealing him inside the Sierra Madre.) As I approach the bunker I hear explosions and gunfire; some Mr. House lackeybots, seemingly here to gain information on the base, forgot their mission momentarily and waged full technological war upon a guerilla force of insurgency bark scorpions, drawing attention to their bulky robotic presence. Careless wandering and boredom led to me almost getting killed twice this night. Spied some dead survivors for looting but didn't notice two evolved centaurs parked behind a dumpster nearby.
