League's real shortcoming is its lack (and inability) of a progression unlock system, something quite literally every successful online game has to have in modern times. This is why they keep shaking up the battle pass and reworking it back and forth and trying to create these events where to get the title or banner or icon reward you need to do everything. People play Fortnite because they get rewards for playing. People play Overwatch because they get loot boxes for playing.
