Who is your favorite Fate/Stay Night servant? For me it's Archer. In the Fate route, his role in the story was more subtle, having been injured early and forced out of the spotlight. This lesser role gave Archer a sense of mystique, which worked together with the reoccurring symbolism of Archer's back to hint at what would be further explored in later routes. The Fate route also delivered one of Archer's most impressive feats, wherein he took 6 (six!) lives from Heracles off-screen, which was a huge boost to his mysterious cool guy factor. UBW is where Archer is really explored, however. Throughout the route, we get constant dream segments from Rin's perspective that shows the experiences he would go through as a hero of justice and what his mindset truly was. In his life, Archer met his end with a smile on his face, knowing that he had truly given everything he had for his ideal. Somewhere along the way, however, he wished for the impossible to prevent a disaster, which he would pay for with an eternity of servitude (this being revealed after the Fate route was really cool, because it builds off of the pivotal moment of Saber rejecting the grail and coming to peace with her inability to be perfect). After becoming a counter guardian, he lost sight of the beauty of his ideal, eternally cursed to clean up disasters without being able to deliver justice. Archer, in his eternal servitude, was granted a chance to test the strength of the ideals that led him to his eternal damnation by being a servant in the Holy Grail War, where his past self would be a participant. In their final bout, Archer forces Shirou to understand where his ideals will lead him through brutal blows, yet Shirou is unwavering in his assault. Archer, catching a glimpse of the beauty of his past dream and understanding that it will not waver in Shirou's heart, is defeated. In defeat, he understands his life wasn't a mistake. I can gush more, especially in what HF adds, but the post is too long.

Mash is a cheat code. I had a lot of fun with it, some of the ‘scrub’ servants really surprised me. Wish there was more raid style fights. They should do a ORT style thing monthly.
