Last year in his chink interview he said that Daisuke Ono complained that Van says "Ha" way too many times and Kondo said it's because a lot of the writers need a unified understanding of the character that's why they give them catchphrases, it's also because the old staff still live in the past where character expressions were possible to show only through the text.
