Note for anyone else in this boat: There are at least 2 "Craft Mechtech Chip" mods compatible with 1.6 on the workshop. One has you analyze a chip, complete some research, then lets you craft the chips (and mechlinks).

My error log is pretty short. Mostly null relationships for NPCs that I don't recall ever seeing being pruned. The only error related to mechs at all was a lifter tried to merge something with a max stack size of 50 into a stack that would've ended up having 61 items in it.

If that is a normal weapon def, probably not. @Name is best used for targeting abstract defs, like this from the vanilla files.

It should work if the weapon def has a Name= part, but you have to direct it to the name and not the defName in that case.
If you want to know if i a patch works, the best way is to boot the game with minimal mods and read the error log. If @Name fails, use @defName.

Honestly, I hate dealing with rulepacks because they are huge complicated lists and I get confused trying to track everything.
The simple solution would to clone the book def you want, and make a unique namer and description rulepack def for it that have only the entries you want.

Forgot to elaborate, as far as I know there is no difference between targeting Name and defName assuming a def has both. However, you can only target Name if the def has that defined.
Like you, I use defName if I have to choose while patching a singular def, because Name is generally used to target parent defs which affect multiple other defs and it's just more logical to use them separately like that.

My main miner pawn's 9 y/o daughter died in a raid, so I immediately put her body on ice hoping that I can revive her later. I have one small issue now though, the miner pawn is consistently spending half the day raping his daughter's corpse in the freezer instead of working on hollowing out a mountain I want to make a bunch of labs in and I have no idea how to get him to stop. That is true, but the rulepacks, while complicated to track through, seem to be just a list of random selections with nested links.
Let's look at a simplified example.

So you should be able to make your own that only has a single <li>description</li> line to always get the same description. You could even keep or change the randomized portions.
It may take some fiddling to make it work right though, but like I say I hate dealing with these so I haven't done it myself.

And that's why you need three defs per combination, a unique book that gets it's own unique namer and description rulepack.

In this case, you can make a patch that searches the TraderKindDefs for the vanilla book your are copying, and inserts your new book def after it. You might also want to reduce the chances of the vanilla book to account for a new book being in the list.

I feel ashamed to say that despite taking so many screenshots none of them have her stat screen. What I remember was her mostly doing research and meditating, she was a noble that made it to baroness. She landed with her husband but shortly after broke up. They were constantly getting into fights afterwards all the way throughout the game and I found that quite amusing.

That's a nice little unique right there. 5 round burst instead of 3, +20% damage per shot. Maths out to double damage per burst, definitely enough to make it much better than an assault rifle or even a charge rifle.

Yeah, its a mod compatibly issue. Not too sure with what though, changing load orders fixed it for me by using rimpy or alphabetical rimsort sorting. Guns and armor won't be patched by the mod if you don't do the LoadFolders.xml change unfortunately.

It's just going to be based on the models you use, and your prompt. I'm not providing the user the model, and the prompt is entirely customizable, pic related is the prompt for this one. I just don't personally want to switch different models/workflows on animals vs people because comfy will have to load a new model each time I switch, but it's made very simple if you want to. You create the buttons displayed above the inspect window, assigning a prompt stack (custom prompt generation logic), and a workflow to that button.

Well you can add any string you want to the prompt, models are going to interpret prompts differently but if something like "realistic animal" makes your gens more normal then you can do that, it will just depend. The model I'm using is a nsfw model + a lora from an nsfw artist, because I want my pawn gens to be pretty and if they're nude, be rendered as such without it looking fucked up. So the animal faces are kind of sexualized too. It makes pretty normal dogs though.

I've always just used loras like pic related. I'm not entirely sure if there's a vanilla comfy way to trigger loras in a prompt like A1111 but I'm sure theres a custom node for it. I need to research it. If you're triggering them in your workflow with keywords in the prompt or however that works, you can get those added to the prompt, and set up conditionals to use different ones. I need to work on adding more conditionals, but you could theoretically do a custom rule with "if(pawnIsHumanlike == true)"YOURLORAKEYWORD";" I might could set up a custom rule or prompt section that lets you set a keyword to replace with something else in strings in the workflow, so you could just feed that lora keyword into the input for the lora model selection in the node and then have a prompt section replace that word with whatever is generated by its custom rules. I'll have to think about it.

Yeah, I hear you, just real tired of my combat pawns rioting over food. Playing a transhumanist settlement, so between sleep accelerators and neural supercharges everyone is eating 144% as much as normal, plus nutrient paste meals aren't "available" to take into inventory so nobody is walking around with no food in inventory to snack on during engagements. By the end of every combat I've got half my combat squad ready to overthrow the government because they're all too hungry and I don't really know what else to do. Getting up to +5 metabolic efficiency would help but it's super expensive. Dropping the transhumanist gadgets would be a huge constant hit to mood. I could start crafting lavish meals, I've got the resources and labor, but that really only bandaids it.

I don't know what I was expecting. A pair of weeks of almost starving and our greatest acomplishment is a freezer and domesticating a crow. Colonization efforts usually have more than three people for a reason.
Well, two people, considering how Chama has been spending most of her time either catching every disease known to man, testing her "amazing psychic powers" by crashing asteroids of slate near the colony or flirting with the ratkin that came in begging for shelter.
At least Mancini seems to ahve mostly forgiven me. I suppose that's a net three in all then.
Maybe four if that supposed imperial deserter isn't full of shit and won't shoot us in the back as soon as we let them in.

Everthing's been going super well! Aria is planting a bunch of tasty rice and pretty flowers, Andrea built me a super cool research table (I figured out that her hair is not moss after all! Since it's greener it must be a cabbage!) and we even got a birdy!
Oh, a small girl with big ears also joined in afew days ago. They looked really fluffly and I asked her if I could touch them. But then she got really mad for some reason! Even after I told her she could pet my tail in exchange her face got all red and she ran away!

I get here and the first thing that greets me is the sight of three caves crawling with megaspiders, the sight of two people bleeding on the floor (both of which tried to flirt with me) and some haphazard buildings that can barely be called shacks.
Then before I can even get my bearings a green haired dog wearing a rose crown made of fur (what in the actual fuck) hands me a pistol and says "welcome to hell".
Maybe I should have taken my chances with the mechanoids.

Yeah I'm not convinced transhumanist is all that great. Sure, they spend less time sleeping, but they spend way more time eating now. It doesn't really cost more resources because nutrient paste is so efficient, but the time really adds up. Even with nuclear stomachs because of how the math works out they end up eating 56% as much as normal, not 25%, so it's more than double a normal pawn with a nuclear stomach.

Some do. The one from either VFE Insectoids or Empires does, as an example. I installed those two and the Pirate one together, saw a sudden method appear high in Dubs Performance Analyser called something like Storyteller.ColonistMoodBuff. I removed Insectoids and Empires, kept Pirates in and it went away.

I assume it's because all Storytellers are kept loaded in and pseudo running all the time because you can swap at a whim in the settings menu. Though this is just me spit balling an idea, I have no clue as to why it is constant and not just only when the Story teller is your active one.

An interesting new development
Ricey here was one of the colonists in Rattletown, recruited pretty early on.
She didn't go with the main five on the search for the Archonexus, and apparently since then she left Rattletown and found herself joining a bunch of pirates and deserters who decided to attack our new settlement of Firecrown.

I fight at various ranges so I just stack it all on charge rifles if I'm playing full vanilla, they're pretty good after the buff in 1.6
If you have a specific setup that lets you force combat at close ranges, chain shotguns do crazy damage. Had a unique chain shotgun that fired 50% more bullets and it just shreds things like garbage. I just gamble on persona weapons for melee

When I summon the boss, I send the Lifter, Constructoid, Agrihand, and Cleansweeper in to poke it in melee while spreading the Millitors out around it to pepper it. My mechanitor stands back and shoots, too.
When it does its flame AoE or big cannon blast, I scatter the mechs that would be hit by it then move them back in when it's clear.
The boss usually dies pretty easily to that.

I tried and it didn't work, everyone ends hating my character for sacrificing an animal in the ritual of their ideology (even when it's not a bonded animal, and have no "no-animal-kill" precept).

Combat implants like hand talons and the thing you posted get added to the pool of possible attacks. Every raid I've been getting recently ends up with someone either dying or getting severly wounded, I don't have a single combat pawn that isn't riddled with scars or missing limbs and my haulers and builders constantly get hunted by hostile wildlife, the only child in the colony got mauled to death by a grizzly bear while nature running.

Finally left my base after 16 years to go full gravship. Stripped it of all valuables. Let all animals go and boobytrapped the shit out of it with over a 100 ieds. Got lucky with an idiotic quest sending 3 200 tribals raids over 3 days which I accepted after I left. It was quite a sight seeing my base ripped apart. In the end I counted 250 tribals dead, most blasted by the mines in small corridors. Even set up some unstable powercells in the mix. I'm just gonna keep it running in the background before I abandon it at some point.

Next step is setting up a prison camp on an asteroid so I can make a bit of space on the ship.

And yeah, the extra point of passion is what makes the base hussar genome so valuable. You can put that on completely stock vatgrown soldiers and they come out of the womb with a completely passable shooting / melee stat and at least one level of passion to further enhance their growth. Try the same with yours and you'd end up with an anemic 6-7 skill and zero passion so growth will take forever. It'd still function, but I'd rather the regular Hussar over yours if you're raising vatgrown armies.

I've spent like 3 days trying to setup my rimworld game the way I want it and almost have it figured out with my hyperefficient fishpeople xenotype. Right now I'm struggling to choose what colour their uniforms should be since I'm aiming for an INGSOC inspired but not exact look. I'm leaning towards brown uniforms, but black is an option and purely pulled from 1984, and grey is also an option but it looks almost German if too dark or Italian if too light. I understand the reasons for it but I'm still terribly annoyed Tynan's fix for adding children was to make them grow 4x as fast, instead of making everything else take 4x as long. all your children wind up reaching adulthood at the same time with the growth rate fuckery, even if they're born years apart. To be honest I cheated and used Adjustable Archonexus Quest to allow me to take some of the research and a bit more items with me, so the early game for both new colonies went by smoother, and having a high level psylink on your main colonist also made any incoming early game threats a lot easier to deal with.I still limited myself to only five colonists and two high end weapons each trip, but two high end weapons and five real good colonists still trivialize a lot of the early game.
I thought about just doing it all vanilla and not bringing anything over than what was allowed, but I wanted to finish this before Silksong came out and I didn't want to go through having to research geothermal generators thrice.

It was admittedly not the most exciting ending, I think of all the "vanilla" endings it felt weaker than the Anomaly and Odyssey ones, but it was still interesting getting to take five pawns through a long journey and multiple colonies.
I might do some more relaxed posting on a comfier setting in between Silksong runs. A proper dollhouse run.

i gave my husky a Animal Gigantizer, which is a Big & Small gizmo that does what you would expect. he's now a dire husky. he has slightly more than double the normal carrying capacity and enormous armor penetration.
i need to find some guinea pigs and make a lucrative guinea pig pelt farming operation... maybe foxes? it works best on small animals, idk what it would do to a bear.

Apparel rending changes can be done in the xml, but it can be a little complicated. In your case in may not be simply changing the xml, but adding to it, because the relevant nodes aren't typically added unless it needs it.
It's been a while since I messed with it, but I think what you want is under <apparel> <wornGraphicPath> <drawData> <dataEast> <layer>. Pawn head, body, hair, and clothing layers all have a layer number that controls which display on top.
Most apparel don't make use of it at all, so it's hard to find good examples. You can try looking at ponpeco accessories, but you will have to fiddle with the layer numbers to make it work.

I’m the anon who complained about layer rendering before. CE webbing is rendered over the shell (outer) layer, and the backpack also annoys me to no end since it’s rendered on top of the hair.
It should also work for the coat or outer layer. Just replace it with the mod name and its mod definition. Ask ChatGPT or something to fix the syntax in case you mess it up.
