About to load up dynasty warriors 9 again and play for a few hours. I went back to the game after putting it down a year or so back and basically went this isnt dw8 and prior no thanks. Well I loaded it up on a whim and started playing through the stories and found that while it isnt dw8 and prior it is a fun game in its own right and the free mode version of the stories is fun.I had no idea Yuan Shu's story was going to be end up fighting almost the whole map just to get to a spot on it. I mean you fight almost EVERYONE. good lord above it was fun. dont get me started on the various stories that go off the rails like dong bai's and her battles and even playing through as Zhang jiao and than in his story in free mode is a bunch of fun. good lord above you have massive amounts of red to fight.you can take bases and capture castles and towns and expand your force and it has a vague empires mode in it that most didnt notice due to that. Troops travel and take bases and stuff and even bandits expand a bit.That also doesnt cover the vague rpg mechanics and social stuff buried lightly in the game also on top of it. For as much shit as this game gets I find it oddly fun to just travel the open world map and get into fights with other factions and doing side missions and stuff for people. It's very mmo like but there's tons of things buried in the game most miss due to just looking at the surface of it and going this sucks.sadly it is poorly optimized and I find it lags a bit at times and I even had to lower the amount of troops it showed to less just so I can get around that odd choice of koei to show your troops over enemy troops in groups to the point it makes taking bases or things harder.either way going to go play for a bit and load up yuan shu's story in free mode and play through with some of my higher level characters and a higher difficulty for better drops and rewards.

FUCK YES! Just had this ding a minute ago clearing yuan shu's dlc story mode's last chapter. over 9000 kills alone in this story with Wang Yun. I even gained over 10 levels due to 5x xp bonus from the game and am now at level 80+ with him my highest. he's going to be the guy I grind the high tier difficulty for drops and goodies off officers for others to use.next im going to power level that fat lovable xu zhu so I can terrorize the free mode with him and his giant club o fun.oddly I thought i'd rely on ol lu bu for my grind as I usually do but Wang Yun is the one I am pushing to the games limits with. Still I am happy with this as I have no once again matched my 10k kills number I only hit once in dw3 yellow turban rebelion and those lovely gates you can farm.this was just from natural fighting and combat in the story and stage setup for yuan shu's dlc.oddly the enemy mostly ignore yuan shu and focus on me. not sure if thats some sort of oversight or done on purpose in the code but either way its kind of funny watching yuan shu stand around and occasionally get into a fight when im off basically carrying the map. gonna test if it does that later in other characters free mode to see if its just yuan shu or others are like that and dont get attacked much or noticed.By the end of yuan shu's last chapter ending I had racked up over 17,000+ ko's. Keep in mind I did not take tons of camps or towns or castles or anything. I stuck to the missions and fought and it was a duzy of a fight. I had to pause a few times and go on my porch and get fresh air due to the constant stream of battle and goto next location and battle. However due to mechanics I could have easily fast traveled to a far place and rested up and all that and taken some places after a break but just wanted to get it over and see what I total. I have never come close to 17k ko's before and 10k was my limit range before twice. Tons of fun was had. Now I think I might go take a break and play some rotk1 or something or ha take a nap to rest my brain. either way this was way different than powering through everyone on beginner to beat the story and hard def took awhile. I will add I went from level 70 with Wang Yun and finished the last chapter with 5x experience in effect from the game and stopped at level 91. So now I just need 9 more levels to max out.

>got my ps2 emulator and psx/1 emulator updated and running properly>setup rotk 4/6 and dynasty warriors 1 for psx and dynasty warriors 2-5xl, sw:xl, sw2xl, dw5 empires, sw2 empires, orichi warriors 1 and 2 and gundam warriors 1 and 2 on top of dynasty tactics and rotk7-11 on the ps2. hot damn I can finally play rotk7 and 8 again and enjoy some of the festive fun it had. oddly zhu rong is only playable as an character in rotk7 and doesnt show up in 8. she's playable in rotk10 which is cool and a game I want to explore more as a free officer (any game that allows free officer I want to get into more.>also setup msdos and get rotk1-3, nobunaga's ambition 1-2, genghis khan 1-2, and liberty or death and l-emperor and the world war 2 one to play through and mess with.>also have dw7de, dw8xl, dw8 empires, dw9, dw9 empires (bleh), and rotk 13 I rotate through (not dw9 empires its not even installed fuck that game).I forgot how fun these games were and rotated back into them hard in the last month.

Your character is simple and stiff as fuck in how they control. You have normal attacks and you switch between two specials. That's it. Sumeragi is a million times better. The only reason to play 2 Heroes is to play Miyamoto Musashi. But every other character plays a million times better and more fluidly in Sumeragi.

>>537812115I love me my square square triangle 3 times with lu bu but he's a blast to play with this fighting system. it's a bit limited in ways but it also allows for some pretty wild combos and counters and mixing and matching of attacks a bit. Its not perfect but I find I have a bit more variety in how I attack and what I can lead into or out of. add in gems adding to weapons and other stuff and I find it oddly fun.Right now I am playing as yueying and taking those 4 provinces in the middle south and doing side missions and stuff. It's not super deep and I dislike how it doesn't acknowledge you taking have the enemies cites nor do the enemies reaction but I like what is there. I enjoy doing various missions and exploring and finding various things. I also started doing the traveling and shopping thing since some items don't show up except at a few spots or 1 spot. add in hunting and fishing and all the stuff buried in the game and its surprisingly fun.one of my gripes is for awhile now the dw games havent done that cool feature dw3/xl had where you played as say sun ce's force taking out wang lang, lui yao and yan bahai and the others and in dw3/xl it also gave you the option to play on the enemy side. I REALLY liked that and wish it was something you could do in this game and other dw games that support that. It would be fun to have a mode that lets you fight the forces off lui bei and cao cao and others took out in battles and stuff like in dw3/xl. though with open world and how story and free mode is setup it'd be almost another mode covering those forces and their short lived battles and runs.surprised at how much fun I am having with dw9 and rotating into rotk13 and a few other koei games. either way was looking something up in dw9 quick about experience and levels and difficulty and now back to the game. trying to power through the stories to unlock it all in free mode.
