There was no large increase but a slow build up throughout hundreds of hours of gameplay. I used the advanced save editor to compare my save file to one I downloaded from the nexus (both after completing everything in the base game) and my save file had a shitton of extra entries saved that didn't exist in the nexus save file. Like I checked a few categories and tabs and there were easily 10k-100k extra entries there in mine.

I think they also had crash report files that were either a few Gigabytes or Megabytes in size.so imagine youre engaging with a repeatable flag and something must be written to your save file. But if for some reason the cpu bugs out, maybe it tries to rewrite it again and again and again. And if there isnt some clean up function, the junk just builds up until there is to much garbage data to be functional.
