My issue boils down to something rather minor overall but was extremely jarring when I was playing through this chapter, and that issue is that I feel that Orpheus’ trust in the proxy felt a bit rushed/unearned. This is specifically for the mid chapter scene at night when Magus was sleeping and she gave us the lore dump about her and magus. My issue is that the amount of detail she gives the proxy and even the spiel she gives about the themes of identity and the past not defining it kinda came out of left field as where we were in the story wasn’t really fit for a deep philosophical reflection yet since when it takes place we are still in the rising action. Additionally, it felt weird that Orphie was close enough to us to divulge that to us because we had barely interacted for more than a couple days and even then most of those moments weren’t really big bond deepening moments. I think the reasons why the writers put this scene in here was to one, make the player feel more integral to the story and endear Orphie to us more.Now personally speaking I don’t really care much about feeling like a major part of a narrative especially so when Magus serves the role extremely well this chapter, but for addressing the other worry I feel that the writers could have done either 2 things to make that fit better.1. Put the scene after the end of the chapter to make the bond between the proxy and Orphie feel more earned.2. Split the scene so that the half where Orphie tells the proxy about her past be in the first scene (I’d also like for in the prior scene with the Lorenz’s assistant to have him say some negative things about both Magus and Orphie as opposed to just magus about their past and to have Orphie speak up just to be told by magus to quiet down) with the Proxy reassuring her of her identity and worth, and then keep the philosophical reflection to at the end of the chapter to make it more poignant.
