Reposting, but so I found out the issue with the machete, and it makes me so mad. So with the Spear and Flag, you keep your shield up when you attack. With the others, you do move the shield when you swing but the attacks are fast and the animation for returning the shield to the front of you is timely-enough. But for this machete? Since the animation is twice as slow, the slowest of melee weapons, the return to the animation for the shield being in front of you leaves you wide open; you will get hit far more often using Ballistic Shield. You can cheese the animation by swinging and aiming to force it in front of you, but it's so tedious and visually jarring. I'm unsure if it has a longer range or if the penetration even actually matters, or if it even meaningfully does more damage. Sadly it's a huge whiff and only useful when you'd use a Shield Generator for quick in-and-out melee attacks. This is in theme to Dune and the warbond, but it feels unfun to use. Sasuga as always, Arrowhead. Maybe one day we'll get more decent melee gameplay.

The coyote is just alright, I think people are in a honeymoon period with it right now, and since automatics are usually pretty bad, that exacerbates things somewhat. Personally, I'm still feeling that nerfed status procs with this gun, you almost have to put as many bullets into the mob to kill it if you want to set it on fire, and if you time it wrong and move on to the next enemy, it often doesn't actually kill the bug with the full fire DOT. Since it doesn't flinch anything besides hunters and smaller, I almost don't see why you would use this over the cookout on the cave maps. Cookout keeps the bugs pushed back and the spread is wide enough to coat multiple mobs at once, plus you never truly have downtime with it since you can reload between shots. I think the biggest issue is comparing this to the lib pen. If not for the drum mag, why would you ever take it over the coyote? Anyways, cool gun but comparing this to the meta picks of eruptor, crossbow, cookout, blitzer, scorcher, or purifier, and I'm not sure where I would justify bringing it over them.

This is the first update that's made me put the game down. If everything worked right, maybe this would be fun, but honestly the way they did the burrowing terminids is fundamentally unfun and sucks any joy out of these missions. If there was a way you could dodge them, maybe, but you effectively can't while anything else is going on at all. Something about the combination of faulty mechanics plus all the honest to goodness design bullshit? I'm done. This update fucking sucks and I'm tired of pretending it doesn't. Light armor cannot outrun it at all and even diving will still have your legs get broken or hit. Non hosts can literally jog away with no sprinting required.
