I'm currently recreating the /uma/ JP story diagram I found into a more high quality version along with adding Still's story in it. I'm still wondering if putting this is too much of a deep cut for anyone to understand what it meant

>>
>>537974130
damn, I had heard about him packing up a ton of stuff to be overseas for a while but I didn't know his career in the JRA was slowly just becoming denied to him after so long, I'm guessing outside of Yutaka it's typical for something like that to happen to old jockeys but Demuro not being a homegrown nip is definitely a huge factor to the icier treatment he's been getting lately

There's probably gaijin treatment happening behind the scenes but criticising JRA for demanding japanese literacy for trainer license seems odd. Wonder what really happened there
>>

I'd change the branches to KEY and Nitroplus or Type Moon. Anyone who picks up a game of anime girl horses and posts her should know what these are.

Guys retarded question but is it cool for wanting uma comics and fan arts to be translated? Or does that make them a globalfag/ENigger unless they learn Japanese or some shit?

According to me yes, unironically. But why would you care about what I think? As long as you're not being obnoxious about it then you do you.
>>
>>537976475
Well it's Still tbdesu, because her career is a mix of (mild) horror and romance. Everyone memes about Nitroplus but it's likely they weren't involved in Still's story just like how Machan's career isn't actually written by someone from KEY.

Really sad to see his win rates keep falling off, then again it's the usual cycle of bad result > get bad horses > result tanked further

Guess he's expecting to get some exception for being a full-term JRA jockey, though at this point I bet Mirco already feels like JRA is actively trying to cut all hopes of him getting on top form again
>>
>>537976597
>>537976769
You people try way too fucking hard with this, can't you just be normal for once?
>>
>>537975093
Getting a long term jockey license is already difficult to begin with. If Lemaire/Demuro can't get a trainer license, there's little to no chance for any other foreign trainer.

Dude might have better chances trying his luck in HK desu, close enough to Japan, no language barrier and they actually welcome gaijins for a change
>>
>>537974156
Is the other anon not updating his chart anymore?
>>
>>537975482
Still’s campaign is also nothing like the majority of Urobuchi’s works, given the lack of stylized hyper-violence or random graphic rape or homosex, and is much closer to your average 電波 game tonally and stylistically.
>>
>>537974130
>Add to that slide the JRA’s ice cold response to his inquiries about becoming the first expatriate to hold a trainers’ licence – a long-held dream – and Demuro knew he needed to change something.
>“I asked the JRA: can I be a trainer here if I start in two, three or four years? And they said, the test will be in Japanese. So how can I make the test in Japanese? I speak Japanese but I cannot write Kanji and those things, so that means I am shut out. I had to think about what I wanted to do,” he says.
Ah man. I was hoping to see him as a trainer. That's terrible to hear.
>>
>>537977043
I was actually planning to consider "denpa" but then remembered Neo Universe is in another part of this chart im referencing so I cant just add it willy nilly without considering the entire chart

Still chugging along I guess? There's plans on testing mainland racing in Conghua, but I'm not sure how betting's gonna be handled (officially it's banned in China)

There are mainlander horse owners obvs, but horses are still imported mostly from Oceania/Ireland and a bunch of other places.
HKJC also picked up some JP horses from Select Sale and Yoshida has a owner's license here now, so maybe more JP horses will debut here down the line.

I don't think horses bred in China can actually run here anytime soon because of vet issues (Conghua had to be set up separately to remove quarantine issues, but its climate is not suitable for horse breeding in any case), so idk where the whole Mejiro Ardan dominating HK bloodlines idea came from.

HK racing are filled with imported horses from EU/AUS then to be gelded, there's no legacy bloodline in HK maybe that dude means in CN
>>
>>537983439
Nah the post explicitly said HK.
If anything it's Deep Field/Starspangledbanner/Toronado who's bloody everywhere here.

That said HK simply doesn't have the environment for horse-breeding,
and horses that end up here are usually already gelded anyways.
If anything it's Japan who's allergic to geldings kek

2005, the never ever year.
>>
>>537985398
In fairness, I understand they want to keep the Japan circuit as Japanese as possible and the discussion swiveled to letting the new jockeys shine rather than flood the pool. But there’s also a push to become competitive overseas now as well, so hopefully some JRA guy picks up the slack.
>>
>>537985878
I'd rather they get some actual competition.
Remember how people joked about foreign jockeys dominating the JRA G1s this year?
Yeah.

Moreira making a mess of them made sense, but even Badel (who's mid-tier in HK) had a good run in Japan
>>
>>537986174
Yeah the calibre of mediocrity has been showing as of late, especially with their recent overseas runs and the invaders (hors & short term jockeys) getting a solid streak. I think I came to terms that the current Japanese jockey pool was mediocre when Rachel King won the Feb Stakes this year, granted she’s also very good at what she does.

>>
>>537986441
It's the lack of interaction honestly. Aside from the Japan Cup and JP horses running overseas, there's not many opportunities for JP jockeys to race against foreign horses/jockeys.

Too bad there's no chance for the JRA to create their own DWC/HKIR/BC sort of day, although it would have been a great way to get more foreign horses visiting.

They definitely need to revamp whatever they’re teaching in jockey school, because Decile getting spanked by British pacemakers & Ebayan losing the KD during a gritty American showdown shows they’ll have a difficult time adjusting to strategies outside Japan borders.
Rough or unfair as they are, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re aiming for world prestige like the JRA (or at least the Danons and Fujita) seem to be.
>>
>>537987252

That's like in the 90s, holy shit. Nowadays it's the Mongolians who are dominating the scene, but Hakuho was ragebaited so hard he flat out left the org, and Hoshoryu is probably one of the weakest yokozuna in the history.

Like I said, there’s a pro in keeping the Japanese circuit as pure as possible because it provides opportunities to natives. But they also are mediocre as fuck, especially with invaders stomping on the likes of new torches like Kawada and Tosaki (who’s also old relatively). Both can be true at the same time.
>>

Sakai need to step up his game and stop farming 3rd

Kawada is legit a meme in HK for being shite in the IJC, go figure

Then again Happy Valley is a weird track in itself
>>
>making demuro's state somehow a fault of the japanese scene
Really? You want the owners to risk giving good horses to someone in a slump and JRA to not make literacy mandatory for an occupation that will have deal with a shit ton of documentation in japanese?
>>
>>537988759
The man needed a change of air and was probably venting all the pent up frustrations he had. That Victoria Mile run with Shirankedo was most likely his last chance at glory and was visibly upset about losing because he knew he blew it.
Having said that, the new blood is still not as stellar as they’re being hyped to be and Sakai and Kawada have yet to step up, but careers are long.
>>
>>537989119
well yeah, japanese jockey obviously need to step up. My issue is with the idolhorse article and some anons here talking like the japanese is proactively obstructing him for being a gaijin, when even nip jockeys except for take received the same treatment after peaking out.
>>
>>537989570
Idolhorse saw a visibly frustrated man and grabbed the clickbait, media does media things. Also gaijin have more barriers in Japan than natives (as usual), but I think people also agree that the likes of old guns like Miyuki and Ryuuji are also being edged out because of age and overcrowded jockey pools.
Maybe the 0 grads is a blessing that way.

>He says he knows that no one has a right to demand success, but he says, “In Japan I can’t feed my family on 12 winners,” and that reality is at the heart of contemplations about his future.

I like Demuro, but he should have just focused on the getting older and wanting to ride more aspects. He's fucking rich and not completely retarded. The only thing that stops you from learning another language is time. For most people that's because they have to earn a living. Demuro could have easily learned the language in a decade. The 'feed my family' line is a bad joke. Respect lost for Demuro. Now Lememe is my best gaijin.

Run less event chains. Some cards like the new Ryan stamina card have only 1 event for the gold chain, and a few older ones let you end the chain and get the gold early on the 2nd event. Friend and group cards also do not pollute the event pool, so you can run 2 of them so the other 4 cards have more room to finish their chains.

Goliath's owner seems keen on a rematch, but not too sure on the horse's conditions if you ask me.

>>
>>538071072
Considering Global is accelerated they want it to catch up to JP eventually. I'm guessing they want it either to merge so they just have a singular client to worry about
>>
>>538073261
They're definitely not doing that. Otherwise they would've just added a "translate to english" option for JP and called it a day. On a side note the acceleration is a lot slower than people predicted. It won't get parity with JP for like 6 years.
>>
For anyone here who plays on iphone, do you have to go through any kind of loops to play the game outside of jp?

Or is it as simple as creating a jp account on itunes or whatever their store is called and downloading the game?
>>
>>538074090
You change your region to Japan and install it from there. You don't need a new account, payment methods, etc.
>>
>>538074090
The latter, but you'll still need to make sure you don't run into issues with your ISP/cell provider
>>
>>538074090
Nope, it's very easy. Just change your region to the jp app store, download jp uma and you can change back. Just remember to press "update all" instead of the individual app when it does need an update, otherwise it will tell you to switch the region back to jp. You can even pay regularly with your usual payment method too without any hassle

Dumb and dumber. I bet the writers are regretting their decision to split the girls into just three school years now.

Pretty good all things considered.

They're making her more stubborn and dumb, aye. She's still a bit tsundere, but that trait doesn't show up as often now since there hasn't been new content that have her interacting with her trainer, just new support cards and cameo here and there.
>>
>>538113931

>>
>>538113931

A shame and what I was worried about. I had my fun, but I don't have the motivation to keep playing if they've disappeared her like that instead of following up on her and with the better direction they developed later on.
>>
>>538114179
>since there hasn't been new content that have her interacting with her trainer
On one hand, I love that the scenario stories are stand-alone, so they can really go wild with them, and I don’t have to worry about bad developments ruining the characters later on.
On the other hand, it also means we rarely get to see uma × trainer moments after their release.
It’s a worthy trade-off for me, but I guess some anons wouldn’t like it.
>>
>>538115256
>It’s a worthy trade-off for me, but I guess some anons wouldn’t like it.
I hate it, makes characters feel disposable. Did their career and story? Hope you're ready to never see them again!
>>
>just finished reading Still in love's training scenario and bonds
Man that was a trip. Didn't think I'd get a romance VN in uma musume.

Time for NeoUni.
>>
>>538114886
She shows up rather often up until the 2nd anniversary. After that it's just the 3rd Bride event and a bit of main story 2.

>>538115371
It's not like they completely disappear. They still show up in events and other character's scenarios. It's better than their story being stuck in limbo forever I would say.
>>
>>538115256
>It’s a worthy trade-off for me, but I guess some anons wouldn’t like it.
Well duh, you really get fucked if your favorite is an early year release.
>>
>>538115616
>They still show up in events and other character's scenarios.
Banking on them making a short cameo on someone else's career or a short event isn't exactly ideal. I just hate the revolving door system of gachas where characters show up maybe once every year for five minutes if even that after their initial appearance.
>>
>>538115256
I'm still waiting for Cygay to eventually remake or rewrite the on-release umas. They got hit the hardest by the early writers playing it safe.
>>
>>538115616
>She shows up rather often up until the 2nd anniversary. After that it's just the 3rd Bride event and a bit of main story 2.
Appreciate it, but that makes it sadder for me. I really like her character (except for how her rivalry with Vodka is portrayed), so to know that not only is her relationship with her trainer not expounded upon more with better writing, she gets mostly abandoned later on isn't worth it. I should have known something was up when she only has one variant despite being a launch character.
>>
>>538115746
Unfortunately there's only so much screen time in a gacha game yeah. That's when you just have to start diving through fanworks. We're lucky that the porn ban inadvertently made it so we have a lot of fanworks that are not just mostly porn.
It would be great if the old scenarios got rewritten to current standard but until then, fanworks it is.

>>538116312
I will say though that Daiwa actually has lots of chances to shine more once they implement more of her fellow generation like Deep Sky or her brother Daiwa Major. Her relationship would be RIP but you get to see her with better writing.
>>
>>538116682
Can’t see that happening unless they make a new game to be honest. Once you start rewriting some scenarios, people would begin questioning why some were rewritten and others weren’t, what about the people who liked the originals? Sounds like a nightmare.

Which card should I pick from the anniv ticket? I have 1LB Tama but I don't know if she will still be viable in the next scenario. I don't want to pick Ai since I already lucked my way to get MLB Aruvu, and it will be a long way to get Ai to MLB.
>>
>>538117404
She definitely would otherwise she would literally be the only outlier. For example, Bakushin gets top billing (despite of outside circumstances preventing her from showing up more) in North Flight's scenario since she's the main rival. You get to see more aspects of her character like how she's playing up her idiocy a little bit because it's expected of her.

On a related note, it's actually why I somewhat dislike Golshi now. She gets the most screentime but they never actually do anything of worth with her. It's always just le whacky horse XD. Give me something more of substance with her please.

>>538118616
What else do you have? Stam Dura is really good even at 0LB if you wanna run Oikomis.
>>
>>538117827
Depends on the track.
In Sha Tin I'd bank on KYR, JP tracks it depends on whether KYR can handle left-turns/slopes

Hard to say about Bakushin though, track conditions and competition were too different back then

which of these do I take?
no, i don't have any real Int cards, unless you want me to take SR Tachyon
>>
Just finished Pandora's story. It's well written, but some parts of the story are really off to me. I don't know how to feel about it.
It follows the same trend as some recent stories where sometimes your dream don't come true, but the best you can do is find a new dream or make the best of the situation.
Some aspects of her story just disappear abruptly and were never actually resolves like Rhein Kraft's sickness (no coma this time around, just a long hospitalisation) and her rivalry with Kawakami Princess, only to be suddenly replaced by a single-minded devotion to Ai-chan. The only issue is that, while Pandora's slow growth into someone who can be there to support and help Ai was great to read, the bloody Cucumber was barely a character in the story and only directly interacted with Pandora like two or three times since she doesn't really need any help -- the whole relationship just feels kinda weird. I suppose it's the "magical connection" feeling they talked about in main story part two, but still.
>>
>>538218560
SR Int Tachyon is a very much useful card than most of these, but Chrono is a close second.

It's a sacrifice that can be made because the real life events play out in such a way for this to be a seamless story to translate into uma.
Characters who officially have offspring can sometimes feel like they're getting sidelined, even though it's their own story; but if this was going to happen to anyone, it was certainly going to be Fusapan, especially after Ai-chan's reveal.

Aye, I understand that this is probably the most "historical" way her story could go, but it still hurt a bit when her story have her giving up on her dream because she'll never be good enough, and lose confidence in herself time and time again. It hurts even more when her "I'm not a genius" here is more a result of her losing confidence in her own ability instead of it being her realizing that she has to actually try like in the main story.
Still, she may not be the best mom, but she still love Ai more than anyone.

50's references aside, I don't think it's controversial to say that Heart definitely felt like the undercooked one in Vol. 2.
Hopefully, if we get her next, her campaign will do her characterization good and clarify the prospects for oyakodon2

I would consider Sasaki as new. 2024 was his breakout year but this year has proven it wasn't a fluke at all. Part of it is being favored heavily by Hori but it shows how well trusted he is.

Again it's the difference in competition.
In HK you're dealing with the likes of Zac, Hughie, Jmac (if he swings by) and Moreira (when he's still active in HK).
It's also easier for other foreign jockeys to have short stints over here.
More exposure to different riding styles, basically.

I'm not sure how things work in Japan, but apprentices in HK have to train abroad (usually Australia) first before getting their licenses back home.

Jerry Chau only got his license in 2020, and still had a handicap bonus in place, go figure. (new graduates have a handicap bonus, which gets reduced as they win more races)
