>>537995937Collab's still going to be open for at least this thread! This is its current state, provided by >>537862909 . Feel free to contribute! We've still got a decent amount of room to work with in the background platforms and skies, after all!
Ah yeah, relating to the collab, anyone have the /kdg/ Simirror PNG?
I have translated a whole 2 more pages of the FL novel between yesterday and today.Whew.I'll... Probably try and post what I have done once I reach page 5. I don't claim to be the best translator, just trying to use this translation experience to reinforce my Japanese as best as I can. Wonder if we'll get a Star Crossed World novel anytime soon...Don't let the thread die overnight while I sleep will ya?
>>538002784Thanks anon. The person who was supposed to translate it on tumblr quit after 2 chapters so glad we’ll finally get it, apparently there’s some scenes that give more details to things like Dedede’s mask.
>>538003278I genuinely can't promise I'll get all too far into it, but I'll definitely make an effort to do so. I'm transcribing the physical book (helps me practice Japanese keyboard inputs), and then writing my own notes on words I don't understand (which includes a lot of kanji), and after which I give it a second read to make sure I understand the grammar and tone in which it's all being said, THEN translate it to English. It's not the fastest process but it helps me learn the language better I think.

>>538002784okay anon

What is the closest there is/was to Neichel IRL? Imagine them announcing that the end of the world came to them in a dream and staying behind when we all leave
>>538008707Just had to type the name
>>538031281What if Neichel is a crossdressing Shimomura in disguise, awaiting his return for a another human lore arc (ancients lore)?
>>538031510She's actually Adeleine.

Am I insane or does anyone else think this Deltarune song is influenced by Miracle Matter and Zero-Two's themes?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8Us0DZgexw
>>538047181He should be a legendary machine.Speaking of what kind of machines would you guys want or would you rather have just dragoon and hydra again?
>>538048901I want Warp Star!
>>538049103I like warp star as one but i guess you'd just find 3 smaller stars to build it.
>>538049220I can call it on my cell phone.
>>538049475That would be inspired if instead of building it directly like the others you charge a phone to call it in.
>>538048702It literally originated as a Kirby-styled song, so that wouldn't be too far off.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t43ZIrsfof0
>>538047181I'd be happy to have him as a boss event honestly, wouldn't mind a new HEA-VY LOB-STER remix
>>538030518Thank you! I... probably should've thought of that, but in my defense it was like 3am and I was about to pass out
>>538031510not likely.

>>538048901Hydra and Dragoon and both opposites and souped up versions of Air Ride machines on the roster. So I guess, I wouldn't mind a new one, but I can't think of one I'd want specifically aside from a Wheelie bike, but between Mystery Rider and Rex coming back, I'm not sure what they could do with it. On that note, potentially RIP Dedede Custom.
>>538076515>neichel lewds will start appearing eventually if they aren't already
To make up for the ritual Friday posting I've missed as of late, have a Taranza I drew. It's the first one I've posted here in while now, I think. A bit more somber than I typically portray.Happy Friday, /kdg/. Have a good day and a better weekend, I'll see you next week.

New screenplay based on last one. Revised first 10 pages. Now it's 20 pages so far.https://files.catbox.moe/40f1ex.pdf
>>538091341you can have this I guess.
>>538101178that's fantastic, thanks
>>538086623Can Dedede use magic like Taranza? He's shown to control lightning, ice, and fire, but he doesn't make magical energy attacks like other characters.
>>538102162I like to think King Dedede can control and use magic. It's a shame we don't see him use his more magical abilities like lightning, ice, and fire any more modern titles other than his hammer.
>>538104687>this explosive apple is somehow money and also edible.

a thought occurred: meteo was just a soul/heart when we first see him, does that mean he was dead?
Is the new dlc worth the 20 or no?
>>538131364If we’re being realistic, no. It shouldn’t have cost more than $10, $5 would’ve probably been a more appropriate price.
>>538131364it's pretty good, the framerates are smooth the music is fantastic there isn't too much new stuff but what is there is excellent I'd say it is worth it you'll get at least a few more hours out of the game.
>>538131364Not a chance. Star Allies had a better excuse for DLC and charged nothing for it.
>>538135613Star Allies wasn’t truly DLC though. It’s clear they released the game unfinished and then the actual rest of the game was covered up in DLC updates.
>>538120304I took it he was in a dormant state, given the Starries only really sealed him, rather than actually kill him. The Larva form is probably just energy saving for the species
>>538109068Dedede doesn't strike me as the type to be well-versed in magic, which requires learning and concentration. Within mainline games, his control over the elements seems like something he taps into unconsciously. He was unphased by the electrical sparks of his hammer in SSU, and the artwork suggests those sparks were coursing through his body. The surrounding elements started getting incorporated to his attacks in KF2 when he manipulated Meta Knight's tornado around the stage. The same attack is seen in FL except he whips up the winds on his own, and there are references to KF2 in some of the figurines which sort of legitimizes the story mode. At this point, his level of control over the elements is restricted to the conditions around him and arises when his mind is clouded by revenge or fury.
>>538148912Don't forget he can also summon ice spikes now in FL, with the pillar attack and all
To the anon who went on a schizo ramble about Last Song with the Drawcia images: fuck you that concept's been stuck in my head ever since reading it what the hell man
>>538151261I think he can only do it when the weather is snowy enough, and he can only make flame projectiles when there's lava and fire heating up the area. He can't really summon anything, just manipulate the phenomena around him.
...Would you say the Switch 2 being able to tank the Switch Melter attack from the Mages in Star Allies makes SMEX easier or harder?
>>538086623Very good spidre, nice job spideranon

So is the generic Waddle Dee supposed to be a separate rider from Bandee? Not only do they not have a spear, but their "perfect landing" animation differs from Bandee's
>>538178368Don't think so, looks like he just has a different expression.
>>538178368I wonder if maybe this means alts could get different expressions for some stuff

>>538203669Anon, I shit you not I was working on a noir theme image where Susie is doing the exact same thing. Sitting on Meta Knight's desk, asking for his help, etc.
>>538204137The greentext last thread put Susie in the femme fatale archetype. Having her seduce the detective at his desk is the simplest way to parody the genre.
>>538206937I agree with you on that, Susie would definitely fit the femme fatale role in a noir parody. It fits her conniving and smug character.

doing stuff for the editor for rendering tilesets. basically you can make a folder in a specified location, and then put in a bunch of images that'll be loaded based off the image name, so i dont have to load in the actual 3d models for every tileset and people can make custom ones. Much more manageable with the 6 games supported.

Just finished the DLC; why is the final boss's intro song refer to panspermia? From Wikipedia: "The theory argues that life did not originate on Earth, but instead evolved somewhere else and seeded life as we know it." Could the species of the forgotten land have descended from the Elfilis species somehow? Astronomer Waddle Dee said meteors have landed on the planet many times before. That could explain why Fecto Forgo's goo form and Chaos Elfilis's death animation only include enemies from the Beast Pack- none of the Pop Star enemies are assimilated even though Sir Kibbles and Hot Heads appear in the Fecto Forgo fight. Morpho Knight and Starries also get eaten, but they can fuse with other things, so they could be an exception. It also might recontextualize the name "Wastes Where Life Began," which always seemed a little strange to me. If this was intended, it makes the people who left the planet a bit more interesting
>>538251614Cooners, its over
bububump
>>538245527that's reasonably what i expect but also people would be able to share custom tileset stuff, and i know a lot of the modding community are artists, so works out nicely

>>538474638I like the lore and character writing for the games a lot (without mentioning the amazing music of course), it inspired me very deeply to be more creative myself, and even try games I wasn't all that interested in before when I heard they inspired it (mainly FF and Cave Story come to mind). I know it's not the best game, but it struck a very personal cord for me n even put me on the path of being a game dev myself.

>>538474638It's the characters for me. I find their personalities and the way they're written to genuinely be very fun most of the time* in a way that not much else is these days. I feel out of place as a fan of both games, though, as I am neither an autistic teenage Redditor, a furry degenerate, nor screechingly obsessed with le heckin' based chungus 100 muh friggin' wholesome Keanu yurislop to the point that it makes me forget about the rest of the game. I'm just here to enjoy the world and characters for what they are and see how everything ends.*The rest of the time is reserved for when Robert feels as though he's writing cheap fanfiction for his own game (see the aforementioned comment about yurislop). Otherwise his writing never really comes off as "obnoxious" to me and the detractors towards it feel more like they're still reacting to the kinds of underage faggots who drew every alternate Sans's putrid blue tongue like it was going out of style many years ago.

Screenplayfag here. Thanks to my endless autism, I somehow accidentally ended up writing an ongoing fanfiction saga in the guise/format of a screenplay. And I just realized it has similar beats and lore to Kingdom Hearts somehow. This was purely an accident, but now I can't stop because I'm having funWill share the first story when it's ready.(This is not a cry for help)

>>538558259perhaps it's baby speak for "general"
>>538559643Nah with all the other translations doing compound words idk why english would be different, i mean german is "genuwel" so i still think its "jeen-oo-uhl".

still pissed off that sakurai has never directed a mainline game since super starwe've seen with ki:u and the smash series how his design philosophies have developed, but to not have them applied to a series he himself created and knows better than anyone would be a wasteand in the meantime, as we've seen with rtdl and ksa, the best kumazaki can do is to imitate what sakurai did in his own games
>>538575572I disagree, I think Kumazaki brought a lot of improvements to the structure of the games personally. I like Super Star, but the whole subgames idea, while neat, felt kinda tech demo-y, the RtDL style taking that great gameplay basis and giving it full scale games to work with was a phenomenal approach as far as I'm concerned, and I think those games get way more mileage out of the Super Star movesets than Super Star itself ever did. Super Star was foundational, but RtDL-Star Allies feel like a full realization of those ideas that... I'm not quite sure Sakurai would've gotten around to? Mainly thinking of the fact he didn't bring back the SS style for Nightmare in Dream Land, despite being very comfortable putting it into Dream Land 1 through Spring Breeze, which is just... Odd to me. Beyond that, I think he personally just felt kind of tired of mainline Kirby after Super Star, if that 1 interview saying he didn't want to just be boxed in into the series is anything to go by (ironic considering Smash, I know). I feel like if he wanted to work on Kirby, he could most likely just ask and be able to do it, I imagine there's a reason he went with Air Riders specifically. Beyond that, I think you could consider Melee Adventure and Brawl Subspace to be his sequels to Super Star, since Smash is already an expansion of Super Star gameplay in its own right, just... Not strictly centered around Kirby. I almost feel like he probably doesn't know Kirby as well anymore himself, seeing how much has happened with the series since he left. And I really feel like saying "best kumazaki can do is imitate" is downplaying his contributions waaay too much, even moreso with Forgotten Land being out now.
>>538575572Why doe? Sakurai was fed up with HAL and Kirby and decided to call it quits on his own. That's an admission that he had nowhere else to go with the series. Meanwhile KumaKAMI revitalized the series and gave it a whole new direction that has been extremely well received and successful.
>>538577159But was he really fed up? He seemed to have parted on good terms. The fact Nintendo keeps hiring him attests to that.
>>538576519>if that 1 interview saying he didn't want to just be boxed in into the series is anything to go by (ironic considering Smash, I know).Gonna correct myself here real quick, probably should've looked it up proper before just going off my memory. I think that idea came from this interview http://www.kirbysrainbowresort.net/info/kirby101/kirbycreator.html and people jumbling up his seeming disinterest in 64 with him being disillusioned with the way the industry worked at the time. Though this quote>"It was tough for me to see that every time I made a new game, people automatically assumed that a sequel was coming. Even if it's a sequel, lots of people have to give their all to make a game, but some people think the sequel process happens naturally."Is likely where "he doesn't want to just do Kirby sequels" comes from. Still, I imagine he feels like he got what he wanted when Sora was proparly established.
>>538578019>proparly*properly, how the fuck did i even make THAT typo...?
>>538576519>I like Super Star, but the whole subgames idea, while neat, felt kinda tech demo-yit was unique but agreed>I think those games get way more mileage out of the Super Star movesets than Super Star itself ever did.i don't necessarily agree but i don't disagree either>Mainly thinking of the fact he didn't bring back the SS style for Nightmare in Dream Land, despite being very comfortable putting it into Dream Land 1 through Spring Breeze, which is just... Odd to me.ironically, given how little was added to nidl in terms of content (multiplayer feeling like and afterthought and meta knightmare being just another run-through of extra mode with a fixed moveset) i don't see it as a major title as much as it is a joint effort with RBAY to bring kirby back to the mainstream>Beyond that, I think he personally just felt kind of tired of mainline Kirby after Super Stardon't get me wrong, I'm not pissed at HIM for his decision to leave HAL, it's more because his absence was felt in the lull between nidl's and rtdl's releases, in which mainline games were dev'ed by flagship with reused assets, while kssu was another remake with only one original new mode included>And I really feel like saying "best kumazaki can do is imitate" is downplaying his contributions waaay too much, even moreso with Forgotten Land being out now.I still dislike how long it took to get a cohesive design for kirby together, with rtdl going as far as to be a soft reboot for the whole series, rather than pulling it back as it once wasmoreover, it still bothers me that nearly every game that kumazaki has direct has always had a gimmick for the game (super abilities, hypernova, the robobot armor, the friend moves, mouthful modes) that the player was forced to use to 100% each title, instead of adding to and innovating on kirby's core gameplay with copy abilities, something sakurai focused on in adventure and super star
>>538579083Yeah, that's fair. I'm very much partial to Kumazaki's approach myself and think it works, I see the gimmicks as a more refined evolution of Shimomura's own, more laser-focused on the "used specifically for a certain segment" concept without forcing the player to sacrifice using other abilities up to that point in order to work with the gimmick segment (I think the Robobot Armor gives up some of the freedom the Animal Friends had for the sake of more concise segments dedicated to it, not sure which take I prefer). It's an evolution pulling from the other half of Kirby rather than Sakurai's, I'd say. I do feel like at least Mouthfuls feel somewhat like a test to apply that philosophy to more single-use abilities that maybe wouldn't have translated the best to 3D as a regular ability, i.e. Carmouth being 3D Wheel, Liftmouth being 3D Hi-Jump. I do wonder if the concept will come back for the next 3D game though. I also feel like Ability Evolutions are a nice innovation that I hope also become a baseline feature for 3D Kirby going forward, it's a very clever way to give more depth to any existing abilities, while giving you more variety in picking which form of it to use, and a lot of abilities could have some interesting iterations with the concept, say for example Fighter being a baseline, evolving into Sumo Fighter with a few of the projectile moves instead becoming grapple dashes in a pseudo-Suplex replacement, ending with Wrestler Fighter, having a mix of both. I feel like it's got a lot of potential honestly, definitely feels worthwhile to me. With different directors everyone's bound to have a preference for the approach one or another took over the rest, though. Just kinda how it goes.

>>538581130That's fair, I do feel like how much a "linear upgrade" each evo line is does vary depending on the ability, I think Hammer does a pretty good job at having each evolution be justified in its use even after getting better ones: Base is rock-solid standard, Toy is more nimble but slightly weaker per hit, Wild is slow as molasses but hits like a truck, and Masked has the dual wield gimmick but it's more of a power trip to be fair, but it'd definitely be nice if they all followed a similar approach so the "base" abilities aren't just outmatched across the board. I feel like, as a foundation, the way Evolutions work in FL is already rock-solid, so I'm definitely interested in seeing how closely or not the next game'll follow its structure. It's the first time evolutions and just... 3D copy abilities in general have been properly established in a mainline game after all, so I want to see how they evolve from here.
>>538582165the last thing i'll complain about in regards to forgotten land is that i think battle royale had a better foundation for a 3D control scheme than how FL's turned outthe problem is that because FL only delegates one button to attacking and that the difference between walking and dashing states is determined based on the murky threshold of how far the stick is tilted, FL had to put dash attacks behind more arbitrary conditionse.g. fire's burn tackle could only be used in the air, sword's drill stab replaces the base slide, bomb's bowling toss is nearly the default because you're always holding the control stick to aim, and hammer's spinning swing is just outright absenti'd much rather the game have a control scheme like this, implementing a second attack button for dash attacks while keeping things otherwise familiarthe image is a character state map, you press or hold the button from the current state to go to the next one
>>538583542Huh, another difference in perspective, I actually thought the way they decided to adapt dash moves was pretty smart for FL while keeping the simple single-button attacks, having them more distinctly distinguished by being grounded or in the air helps knowing exactly which attack you're doing, although, I can see what you mean with the 2nd button, could be neat in its own way. I do miss a few of the more iconic attacks but I feel like we do get that in exchange for the moves themselves having more literal depth due to the extra axis and all. Maybe they'll consider a dash button of sorts for the next game, I wouldn't mind. But yeah, I do feel like the way they handled it in FL was pretty graceful and they make clear enough distinctions between states that you can pretty intuitively figure out what state lets you do which attack and act based on it. We'll just have to wait n see what they do for FL's sequel until then.

Is there a way to make this legible? I did manage to translate one part of it as "QandA". I think if we can translate this it might help with the lore research given how important Wondaria is to the greater scale of the game's story.
>>538606407maybe AI upscaling could do it but that's a crap shoot, a smarter method would be overlaying each latter to see if it matched would probably be the best method.chances are it's most likely just a park map layout and doesn't have anything all that significant anyway.
>>538602762this one's good.
>>538607141They tend to paywall the best tools and I tried sharpening but it just recolors all the pixels in the text which makes it impossible to read anything I did isolate the part with the QandA.
>>538607421perhaps looking at where those things are pointing to can give us context as to what the text says and maybe some of the wonderia based figurines could as well.
Will Adeleine have a new outfit in her next appearance?
>>538610821Yeah, she will wear a microbikini!
>>538612378Why would she wear that in a kids game...
