it doesn't sing, sadly

>What the heck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as A Hat in Time, Animal Well, Baba Is You, Balatro, Battle Brothers, Cave Story, Celeste, CrossCode, Cultist Simulator, Darkest Dungeon, Darkwood, Dead Cells, Disco Elysium, Environmental Station Alpha, FTL, Hades, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Hotline Miami, LISA, Lobotomy Corp, Loop Hero, Machinarium, Monster Train, Noita, Nuclear Throne, OFF, OneShot, Rain World, Shovel Knight, Slay the Spire, Starsector, Subnautica, Sunless Skies, The Witness, Void Stranger, etc., as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Pillars of Eternity, and Valkyria Chronicles. /jrpg/ is welcome. Idle, roguelite, shmup, 4x / RTS / city-builders, and RPGMaker games are cool too.

Mobile or consoles, Flash or Unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads, however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

Yeah, that's siralim ultimate. A few people here have played it. It's extremely autistic, like the kind of autism where it's unplayable if you aren't aware of 1000 or more monster traits for your build. There's basically no story, it's just grind. The patch added stuff to the endgame and a bunch of game modes (including easy and hard mode) that require making a new save to play and added new currency to replace the current way cosmetics and rare monsters work. Personally I got stuck at realm 180 and gave up.

Sandbox games where you can recruit allies to build an army to create your own government and overthrow other governments like mount and blade? Is Kenshi similar to that?
>>
>finish kingsvein
>as disappointed as after alvora tactics

God, Horizon's Gate is such a great game. And it has grown an amazing modding scene since its launch days. 70 hours in and feels like I have tons left to explore. I can hardly put it down every night before going to bed.

>>538133862

>>
>>538131040
Not really. The scale is completely different. While in warband youre supposed to throw hundreds of peasants in the meatgrinder, in kenshi you're supposed to actually gear your dudes and not let them die. Your average squad isn't going to have more than a dozen members. Without mods, it'd be pointless too since you engage most enemies 1v1. Exceptions being giant enemies and ranged combat, which also kinda breaks the game.
>create your own government
Sure, though it's pretty pointless aside from rp'ing.
>overthrow other governments
Not really. At most you can kill or capture specific NPCs which will result in a specific city being taken over by another faction.

silkosng wastes so much of your time, I'm not running to the judge again
also who thought adding a sekiro-style resource only needed to replenish already limited tools was a good idea
>>
>>538150054
I am in act 2 and all the new stuff they added are just garbage
The ammo mechanic is very, very bad. It turns difficult fights into pure tedium because every time you die you lose ammo and the game is extremely stingy with giving you ammo. You need to kill like 20 enemies WITHOUT using any ammo to get back resources for 1 full rotation and that is annoying.
The bosses are reasonable but in act 2 some gauntlets get really crazy. If the Judge is like a 7-8/10 difficulty then a gauntlet I faced is like 20/10. It keeps going and going and the basic trash mob combos create insane amount of RNG so you will get hit.
I'm probably halfway or 2/3 through act 2 but honestly Silksong has been disappointing. The main issue with the game is the economy sucks big cocks.
The cost of benches and fast travels alone is already sucking you dry. Then there are sidequests that suck your money, key items that cost crazy amount and so on.
I've been going on farming binges and it still isn't enough. The ammo part sucks big time. I run around with 1000 rosaries and a few checkpoints later I'm down to 0. And I'm constantly out of ammo because enemies drop very little amount of it while quests cost too much.
The worst bits: quest rewards give peanut. Finding a secret room with a chest gives peanut. LMAO 50 rosaries from a big chest? 1 encounter is like 40-50 and constant farming is not enough. So many exploration reward is just these chests with no reward.
>>
>>538153387
Slow down. Concentrate on dodging the bosses for a second and look at their patterns. As for grinding, it exists but as someone who loves Dawn of Sorrow, Silksong's is more than tolerable

>Got into a room containing nothing (yet?)
Got the wall-jump, made it into the room normally, and now suddenly that room allows access to another area. It could have been a cool sequence breaking moment but so far no attempts have been rewarded, looks like Team Cherry want to be in completer control this time. Most I've gotten is an early extra mask but going from 5 to 6 makes no difference when there are so many double damage attacks, you still die in 3 hits. And one extra silk spool which makes no difference. Every other avenue I've tried is properly locked.

Off the top of my head, here are a few games id recommend thay would be safe for a normalfag as far as themes and general gameplay goes;
There is no game:wrong dimension
Stanley Parable
Spiritfarer: farewell edition
Silence
Röki
Pikuniku
Naiad
Moral Dilemma: the interview
Jusant
The Invincible
Hand of Doom
Firewatch
Caravan Sandwitch
Beholder 2

Nost of them arent exactly adventure games in the traditional sense, but id be damned if she doesnt have a good time playing most of them. Still id recommend you look them up and get your own idea of how they are, as you're the best positioned to know wether she'll like them or not.
>>
>>538199428

>Have exactly enough money to buy the map.
All is forgiven. Anyone else think the game suffers from having too much going on? I can name basically every HK npc, the world felt 'lonely' so each character stood out more. Silksong is more densely packed, there is more to see but the areas and characters are forgettable in comparison. Undeniable improvement gamekeeper wise though, the platforming and basic enemies have more variety and depth.

Hey /indie/. Finally managed to beat Cave Story on Hard Mode. It removes Missiles and all health upgrades (except for the one +5 you get from Jenka's dog near the end of the game), effectively making most of the game a no-hit run without your highest DPS weapon.

Doing this leaves me with a surreal feeling of accomplishment. Growing up I could never beat Hell and Ballos on Hard Mode in the DSi version. Recently dug up my 3DS, loaded up some custom firmware, and did a few runs of Cave Story for old times' sake. Finally I did a Hard Mode run, got filtered hard for a while by the Core since I always go for the Spur vice the Machine Gun, and after countless attempts landed that golden run where it all lined up. Hell, for the final boss I even set the 3DS version to the 4:3 aspect ratio and the DSi control scheme to pay honor to that retarded kid who could never seal the deal all those years ago.

Didn't really know who else to tell this besides you fags. Don't really know who else would appreciate and empathize with this sort of dumb shit about a 21-year-old indie platforming title. Thanks for reading my blog, and best of luck with your games.

What is Kenshi anyway? I've heard so much about this game but also fucking nothing at the same time. It's on sale right now.
>>
>>538167854
Since the last time I played they've added a special mode where you can get a large variety of effects that are typically upside + downside, though the severity of the upside and downside tend to vary. That middle one means my guys are going to age one year every single in game day which might make play completely impossible, but I took it as I'm intensely curious how much exactly it reduces medicine tolerance by. Depending on how much by and how difficult it's going to be for me to urgently grab some life and morrow pills or something, this is either going to be insanely OP or completely unworkable.

Either way I might restart as I didn't get offered the main modifier I heard about which was the main reason I got the urge to return to the game, but for now it's good to experiment and figure out how to play again.

My irk that's regularly seen in many titles over the years:
Auto-saving consumption of consumables. This results in vicious loop where if you have trouble in defeating the boss, you become LESS and LESS powerful, leading to even more trouble than before. "Poor get poorer" situation.
I'll take "no auto-saving whatsoever" over "auto-saving on death".

It's fun, would recommend, the only reason I stopped playing originally is because I'd run out of new things to learn. This new Heavenly Chaos mode adds a lot of interesting new stuff, the modifier I'm most interested in is one that starts me off with a bunch of rare materials (special boss drops for stronger qi gathering in a cultivation room) with the tradeoff that all the sects other than the DLC sect start at -700 rep with you, so you're getting attacked fairly hard from like day three.

As it is I really need to get my shit into gear, literally my entire sect is going to be dead to old age by the end of the year if I don't pick up the pace and get my hands on life extending medicine or something. It's basically day 5 and I've not done shit hardly, oh god oh fuck.

>did you take the +5 on embark?
+4, there's an extra immortal option that gives you up to four extra random disciples but they each have problems with them, it's still work taking them for the extra hands, and the last one I invited back to my sect as a labourer and unlike pic related they didn't get stuck behind a mountain and die.

Oh right, also I forgot to mention that it's a canyon map rather than a plains one. I've done plains every time and I want a change, plus part of my strategy is I'm hoping to dig up lots of caskets from the mountains and get the Heaven Stealing law early.

>the increased aging thing doesn't also speed up trib timer, right?
No, it just means that by the end of the first year, my 20 year olds will be 100 years old, or more likely dead of old age around early winter if I don't hurry the fuck up and find some sort of a supply of life pills or something.

>fucked up that it applies to outers too
Yep, but honestly it would be absurdly broken as fuck if it didn't. Even if it doesn't reduce the resistances by that much it sounds incredible to me already, lowering them all by just about 10% per item would already make it way, way easier to start eating sun pills pre-core, you could make incredible cultivators with a tiny fraction of the effort and the only catch is that you'd have to force feed every outer you want to keep (preferably) a refined Morrow pill or something.
I also get the feeling that it will be a bigger drop than 10% per item, I'm looking forward to it.

It's not even the only modifier, one gives absolutely everyone who joins my sect +10 qi sense but everyone's pretty hungry all of the time, and the other lets me equip additional talismans with the tradeoff of not being able to manually draw them. The great painter mod might completely bypass that downside I'm not sure, and even if it doesn't I can loot T12 talismans of my choosing off of enemy cultivators or just roll the dice repeatedly for what I want and then be able to equip 4 (more?) talismans to everyone.

>i suspect you're gonna be doing a lot of recruitment
Probably. The main way to bypass the whole age problem that I can see is to keep hiring new blood until I solve the need for life pills, the only problem is that the achievement I'm going for is time gated and I only have the first three years to clear it, so I can't fuck around.

>i wonder if it hits other sects too, i know there's that story npc that dies of old age
It honestly might, I could potentially check but forgot to do so earlier.

Meme review aside, it's one of the few true sandbox games around. There's literally no plot, main quest line or whatever. You start with a perfectly ordinary guy and do whatever you want to do. Go be a miner, a pickpocket, a trader, a murderhobo or whatever you feel like. RP to your heart's content, cause that's what the game is about.
It also has a lot of grinding. Your starting dude is weaker than starving bandits, the weakest enemy in the game.

Yeah, that's one thing that definitely dates it. Obscure secrets with obtuse prerequisites sure aren't common any more, with everyone looking for a more organic/in-game way to hint at other paths. While it's technically possible to do that in Cave Story, it's realistically only learned on a second playthrough or some forum online.

I usually don't go lower than 2x2 so it's not that bad, but yes it can get tedious. These arches are the most complicated ones the rest are stuff like making each side of a wall have a different texture and those are fast. I might go back and add more details at some point, but that's a long term project.
I don't use them, but there are mods that make chiseling faster. Even save designs so you don't have to chisel 100 blocks manually.

Jeremy Blaunstein, most pseudo-military terms in metal gear comes from him because the original is just completely dry for example the codec is just called wireless communication. He also translated symphony of the night, which was very rushed and full of typo like "I smell you're blood". The entire intro is completely rewritten and has nothing to do with the original and it full of empty intellectual references. The line "What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets" come from the French book "Antimemoires" by André Malraux, famous writer, politician and liar "Qu'est-ce qu'un homme? Un misérable petit tas de secrets ...", he also changed a lot of things in the translation of shadow heart and silent hill. Some of the changes he made in his translations were a bit questionable like when he changed big boss' impotence into a coma. He was the cast director for a lot of those games.
He clearly wanted to be a writer instead of a translator.

Translating a book or a game is different from translating a tutorial. You're translating the meaning (which may even hold cultural significance) in another language while trying to convey the same emotion.
Like how do you translate a double meaning? an idiom? a joke needs the full cultural context to be understood? You have to be able to write for the audience that is going to read your translation.

It's from a different time, japanese publishers were famously not giving much of a shit about the quality of their overseas exports, they had someone translate the games and then shipped it without double checking.
Let's be honest, MGS and Castlevania wouldn't be as cult if they didn't have these, as the dude definitely wanted to write someone special. They could've gone with the blandest japanese translation where everything is very matter of fact and unfunny, instead we got what cemented Kojima's style in the west even though he didn't write these words.

Kojima hated the translation and he became a control freak because of that.
There's also plenty of changes that were made because the Blaunstein thought the original was "stupid". For example Zanzibarland is translated as Zanzibar the African country because Jeremy thought the original was dumb.
He was definitively not the worst translator of that time period but I wouldn't say he was good at doing his job. At least he didn't throw away the script and rewrite the entire game like the "translator" of skies of arcadia who literally made shit up as he went and created a ton of plot holes.

Quite the opposite actually, it would be insanely easy to launder money via video games, especially nowadays with the international reach and digital distribution. You could pump the sales number up like crazy and none would be the wiser, especially with indies that arent designed with a specific demographic in mind so sales peppered across the world isnt too shocking, and would give a good alibi that make tracking distribution way harder for a foreign or local government.

Nibba please, can you be more disingenuous? Like you do realize there are already methods to transfer money to game pirates and the likes that dont have any way to track the originator? Ie I recall prepaid giftcards and similar like subway cards are the most common way to give/donate them money without ever getting shit for it. Notwithstanding it could be very easy to get false ID from countries like brazil if you were to give a cut of the process to whoever ease the ordeal, you know, like how money laundering work? There is also the method of using in-game currencies and cosmetic items. I wont bother going on about this more than this as you obviously do not understand how that kind of stuff work.

how does passive-aggressive infantilization leads to some illusion of authority? I fail to understand the logic. The infantilization and hiding behind some cute figure sounds more like a shield to criticism for me, but not in a "having authority" way, but in a "hiding behind a baby" way.
>>
>>538450283
Basically, they infantilize you and ergo, they are implying by the act of such that they are more mature than you. This manifest in a higher-than-thou attitude which is used to silence or discredit criticism or attempt at arguing the proponent of such methods.

Not denying it is used as a shield against criticism, in fact its exactly what it is. The illusion of having authority is effectively just an "appeal to authority" fallacy, where they make themselves the authority figure in the relationship and use that position to ridicule or silence any opposition or criticism. I'd say its a fallacy because having authority within a given context do not inherently invalidate concern on the matter by other parties.

In Spelunky the timer mechanic spawns an unkillable ghost, constantly following and instakilling the player.
Void Crew has the same thing, spawning ~10 minutes after any contact with a hostile.
>>
>>538456093
Ooh, that. It's just called a "time limit".
But yeah, except for a run just now where the crew was particularily inept, it has never been a problem.
>>
>>538453103
It's 'realistic' compared to VCD, apart from the inhuman amounts of blood everywhere. No bizarre cleanup mechanics, no physics jank, no MOTHERFUCKING casualty reports, you have an easy-to-use 'show me the mess' button. But also less goofy, environments are just boring buildings, every level is pretty much the exact same mechanics-wise, an obligatory skill tree, and the voice acting is both dreadful and constant.
It's competent enough I suppose. If you just want a straightforward little-bullshit cleaning sim to zone out on, it'll slot in perfectly. If you want something with an actual personality beyond a bad story and decade-old memes, this ain't it.
>>
>>538457169

You don't need ID, you need a method of payment. If it's digital, it can be traced. Prepaid gift cards are only untraceable if bought with cash, and I promise if you're buying hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gift cards in cash, people will notice. Getting a bunch of false IDs to launder money through buying indies is like buying a nuke to win a pillow fight, you'd be far better off with an actual brick and mortar front that handles cash.

Get off high horse and actually look at the post chain, you're veering off into a different topic entirely. Anons trying to say Zachtronics or their translation company are money laundering fronts are retarded. People do sometimes use video games to money launder, that's not the case here.

I know this isn't the general for it but /gsg/ has become absolute unpalatable sheiss where 95% of the posts in the thread are from the same painfully unfunny samefag who fill the entire thread with 1 sentence posts and never directly reply to anyone. So my question is;

Is there a way to start as actual humans in the Hard Reset origin? I know you can start on the sol system, but for some reason if start your civ on Earth, the storyline make it put some pre-ftl on Mars which make no sense. Google like always is absolutely freaking useless on the matter.

Allow me to be entirely honest: I have no fucking idea how unplugged works.
I am fairly knowledgeable in how Paradox's stupid systems work, however.
From what little I gather you're playing as a species created by the Makers which are the pre-ftl martians which are actually post-nuclear war remnants or something, correct? If so, go to solar system initializers -> unplugged initializers and switch up their flags and init effects. Maybe make Mars a bit bigger since that will be your capital. Obviously, remove the starting planet flag from Earth and move it to Mars as well.
Do note that I only skimmed through the events, so I know basically nothing about how the entire thing is supposed to go down and I don't really feel like starting a new playthrough. Do feel free to illustrate a bit.

Actually you're not originating from the system you start in but were a people assimilated by some driven assimilator AI (hadnt reached the full sotry reveal before I dropped that peculiar campaign due to bugged questline where the event to remove the -1 amenities debuff wouldnt trigger despite reaching the system, which would make mid to late game literally impossible, ie by the time I stopped my capital had -10 000 amenities lmao) who invaded the system you now inhabit, you btfo them because they resisted, then the AI went fubar for reason I havent discovered yet which is why you got freed from its grasp.

In trospect my game may have bugged out because presapient spawned on the tomb world or something. Fucking paradox games are so janky

No, that IS supposed to happen. The Sol initializer for Hard Reset has a specific flag for it. Unplugged_pre_sapient_planet or something, can't check right now. Generic systems have that too, it's just that for non-Sol one it generates a random tomb world for it. For Sol, Mars is scripted to become a tomb world with pre-sapients and a bunch of infrastructure.
It's why I assumed you were actually ancient astronauts who modified themselves and moved over to Earth after nuking Mars. Funnily enough, that's close enough to DxM's plot, which I'm currently playing
One of the events look for that flag to generate an archeological site which starts a questline.
>>538553805
>its because I went for the cyberize ascension path before completing the embodied identity situation
Yep, I believe I read a few posts about that and you're indeed not supposed to be able to do that. It's just paradox being paradox. You know how after a crisis eats a good part of the galaxy you're supposed to get sentinels/cybrex to help out or extra extradimensional for that big free for all? At release some intern fucked up and checked for 20 instead of 0.2. Meaning the crisis would have to eat 20 galaxies instead of 20% of the map. Galcom laws? They didn't carry over the previous tier. There's one law punishing you for having less than 50% naval cap used, but if you passed the next level suddenly it was fine.
Mind you, I like those games but this isn't an "ooops, we rewrote the entire economy from scratch and now everything is broken even after months of "testing"", this is actual incompetence.
Even if you fire events manually to speed up testing the fucking console prints out whether event checks are satisfied or not. It's really not rocket science, especially when the entire thing is in plain text and mostly human readable.

I think this is probably the breaking point for me. I know the game has been overwhelmingly mediocre, but I'm not taking another 10 minute walk back just to get hit by something new. This isn't difficulty. I won't be surprised if there's a 2nd boss after this boss because that would, according to the developers, be very funny to put after all this nonsense and the farthest walk in the game yet from a bench.
This really isn't worth it. I know my time isn't worth much, but somehow the devs have proven again and again that their game is somehow worth less than that.

The DLC dungeon has pretty good loot for when you can first access it, and by the endgame I didn't have any trouble with the big boss.
>>
Alright I got over the gauntlet ... and the (not so) crazy thing is soon after I found a real boss (you know, someone where they put efforts into the moves) and I one shotted it. The boss wasn't easy, but it didn't spam adds and didn't have some lava floor. The bench wasn't far away either, which didn't matter in this case.
This is a continued problem with Silksong. Half of the contents seem to be very well crafted and made with love (all the story bosses) and they aren't difficult, because their moves are clear and readable and there's no mob spam.
But then there's the mini bosses that spam adds and the gauntlets which all seemed to be a lazy way to inflate the play time. These are significantly harder.
It makes me think that when people praise the game's difficulty, they are looking at the wrong half of the game. The good parts aren't difficult at all.

Finally, I've been save scumming for a hot minute trying to get this, part of my strategy is based around it.

I should probably lay out roughly what I'm up to, so whoever's reading this can understand kinda why I'm agitated about the time other than the whole "everyone in my sect is ageing 1 year for every day that passes by" problem.

The achievement I need either needs a ton of convoluted savescumming and abusing niche mechanics, or I need to kill off one or two enemy sects really really fast - ideally year 1, to achieve it. I'm trying to do the latter. Killling off an entire sect is supposed to be the latest game thing you can possibly do though.
The plan:
>Immediately promote somebody to become a disciple
>Break through to golden core by about day 8 with them, use them to pick up resources and stuff
>Find ancient caskets from mass mining mountain walls
>Savescum for the Heaven Stealing law and promote three pre-prepared bear yaos in it
>Unlock Wormwood Valley by summer and get the "Summer Herb" from there
>Pick up the Perfected Warrior law whenever I can
>At the start of winter, grab the Winter Worm also from the valley, immediately trade them in for a pretty good sword formation manual in the Celestial Pool region
>Form a formation between a Perfected Warrior Disciple armed with a bunch of Tribulation Needles I've prepared beforehand, back him up with the three Heaven Stealing disciples, with the right talismans theoretically they should be able to take down a sect
>Oh yeah, go visit He Zuandao and get the better talismans I'm supposed to have by now
It's late spring and I don't even have my first golden core disciple and it's throwing off everything else.

Finally finished this game and got the true end I think? Hard to know because this game has a lot of hidden stuff but I think the only thing left for me is grind all the golden tokens for the final file.

Went in with a negative impression of the game but was actually really fun and the final boss fights were really cool. Shame that I missed the boat on threads and stuff though, would have definitely liked to discuss this while it was fresh.

Nice.
You should play the sequel. No kinda-out-of-place shop system, the whole game is balanced around your standard weapon loadouts. (Well, the rocket launcher trivializes some fights after you get it on NG+) And the soundtrack is excellent.

Sure, my first guy ate and used that, but you only get one of those not five of them. What delayed me for so long was a lack of cultivation materials before I could pull together even a crap array (some earth materials so it's not completely suitable for a fire cultivator) and a general forgetting of how I did things, I kind of forgot how slow an early cultivator was and that I'd have been better off just sitting there and cultivating all the way to GC immediately instead of doing 3 or 4 adventures for needed materials first. I also forgot that the main Wudang sect doesn't have a magic altar, I was thinking I could go there and observe one asap to get a much better solution for arrays without needing to use the dogshit I'd set up at home. Turns out that was a mistake.

Found this thing through a dev's retweet and bought it since it only costs as much as a mid-tier fast food meal: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3247640/7_Days/
It's an RPG Maker walking simulator/visual novel about depression and trauma which definitely has Omori as an inspiration.
I have only played it for 30 minutes but here are my initial impressions:
1. The child's drawings/sketches aesthetic is kinda cute, I guess, but can sometimes feel drab, maybe on purpose.
2. Psychedelic flashing images in the intro is pretty cool.
3. Music is mostly acoustic and I think it's pretty good. Main menu theme makes a good impression.
4. Save point is a girl who keeps popping up, the most blatant Omori similarity so far.
5. First choices that seem to matter seem obvious as to which ones lead to the good ending and to the bad ending.

Alright, I've defeated the gazer in dragon's dogma. What a piece of shit boss that takes hours to kill and can't do anything dangerous. At least I got like half a million xp from it because I used the charm to double xp right before it died. Level 50!
>>

I always thought it was invincible.
>>
>>538738582
The skin is completely immune to damage but the eye is weak is holy. It might be immune to everything else since I couldn't do damage with the other elements.
It's still a very, very tanky boss but it's not a very dangerous boss. I died more times to wolves, goblins and bandits one shotting me in the early hard mode than to the gazer itself.

Personally I fucking love the game as I love complex systems and figuring them all out. All my time learning this game has taught me that 80% of the numbers and stuff are pretty much just for show and are decorative, only 20% of the stuff actually matters.
Spirits you don't even need to bother worrying about for a fairly long time and once you get down to it they're not that complex.

Time for the GC breakthrough.
I'm actually pretty pissed about this, since the breakthrough has taken so long I figured I'd transcribe all the laws and have my guy learn all the qi manuals beforehand.
Two of the guys I had transcribing laws then went and failed at something like 98% because they decided they wanted to go sleep or something instead. Fucking hell.
>>
>>538751574
Not amazing given the time investment, I feel like T2 would have been doable if they hadn't fucked up transcribing those two laws, T3 is particularly a problem since it's bugged and breakthrough chances are the same as T9. Guess I have to just suck it up.

Are you serious Team Cherry? What function does that have? The customization in Silksong is very limited compared to the charm system in HK. To be fair the fundamentals are more complex, but its still a shame, none of the equitable items have a meaningful effect on how you play.

>>538746770
The only issue is how unbalanced it is at times, many modules are literally useless while others are broken beyond belief, ie the one that reload a random non laser weapon for every lance weapon fired is ludicrously powerful, if you get it you basically won the game as all you need is a single weapon that fire multiple rounds and replace all the others by lances. Even with the basic 3 projectile launcher you can easily do ~12 hull damage per salvo (3x4=12 dmg potential x # of lances weapon= almost every ship die in seconds) and lance weapons are fairly common. Also necromancers are way too common, kind of annoying to try any build only to do skele spam 4 times out of 5 because you get nothing but necromancers at every merc merchant.

Internet is a much wider place than it was 20 years ago, and indie games are much more prolific as well. For every Balatro and Undertale there's likely a thousand unknown and forgotten games waiting to be downloaded, hosted on random megas/mediafires/etc.

Social media and other self-promotions only help so much, but not relying on them at all is like betting on a lottery ticket. You gotta have one in a million luck to pull that off.
>>
>>538756895
I would say not doing promotion for your indie is akin to not buying a ticket at all. You have no chance whatsoever. You have to play the marketing game before people will see and play yours. The odds aren't in your favor even when you try, but you have to try.

Great game but it's a genuine surprise that after to long in development with no deadline,it still shipped with issues. Found the Snitch Pick item and it literally does not work. Also seems like they are weakening some early game bosses (unnecessary) and reducing some of the money requirements (much needed).
>>538756480
Yeah, and that is functionally pointless. You aren't gonna run out of tools unless you are spamming them all the time, and if that's the case you are quickly gonna run out of shards anyway, so you'll need to stop and farm. Not much use in bosses because it consumes a full heal worth of silk, and fully using 3 tools is gonna be enough to almost kill bosses anyway. Not much use in exploration because there are benches everywhere. The crest has basically no utility, besides allowing tool replenishment in a no-bench playthrough or something.

They sold over 5 million copies. Being extremely generous, let's say only 1 million of those actually got played this week. Let's say they only played for 1 hour each. That's a million hours of people testing out your game. They spent around 8 years working on the game, if they had a team of 10 playtesters who literally worked 24/7 that would only add up to around 700,000 hours. It's simply not possible to cover everything, players will almost always be able to outdo the amount of resources you have.

There is a point here. If an enemy deals contact damage, then any sudden movements is an attack and should be telegraphed as such. Especially if it's double damage. There are some cases where the boss flails while entering a stun, or the hitbox does not adjust to match it's stunned pose.

It's the strongest Xiandao law. If you use it for spell cultivators, every spell you cast gets two casts for the price of one. If you use it with artifacts, all the artifacts are automatically doubled so if you had 6 artifacts you're effectively wielding 12. There's no better law to be the centre of the formation.

It's not exactly "dlc" it was added with dark arisen as a save transfer gift for xbox360 and ps3. All the things that spawn in your storage are free transfer items for buying the expansion on old gen. With a few exceptions (jester's cap, tiara of enlightenment, ruminator's monocle, robe of enlightenment, wavering cloth and vagabond armor which you're not supposed to get for free). Everything else is free with the expansion (including the very op "queen's clothing" and eternal stone), all the other dlc items were either integrated to the game or added as buyables from the black cat. Dark arisen also added things like a portcrystal outside cassardis and portable portcrystal all over the game.

Can anyone recommend me a game that is going to instill in me the desire to live?

In return here is a screenshot of Underworld; Ascendant, a super janky dungeon crawler from a decade ago which had hilarious ragdolls physics, and one time in my campaign the AI literally died. As in, the AI straight up ceased to function and all the enemies wouldn't react to being clobbered.

Is that a blackhole? It sure won't ever beat doing a face to face with a blackhole in Elite Dangerous because you auto-planned a path, shit feel surreal, the way the space around start to curve inward and how your ship suddenly jump out of hyperdrive in emergency. Dunnos what brabenvision supposed to mean, but it isnt like I dont understand the sentiment. Maybe ill pick it up one day to see what became of the Thargoid war and the exodus and whatnot, also I recall that there was a huge amount of new stations to be built here and there so it would make far exploration less of a pain, but the moment I remember im basically in the middle of nowhere and would need at least 5 hours of travel to get back to the bubble kind of bum me out l. If I do I may try out the fps dlc even if it suck ass, would make exploration a bit less tedious.

Fair.
I don't have that many memories of Freelancer anyway, my English was atrocious when I played it, so I barely understood the story. Something something Freeport Seven, and blue things that live in people's mouths, and your reward for the last missions wasn't even monetary.
Then I had to cheat and put all enemy damages to 0.1 because they'd wreck me.

Underspace ships looks so ugly. That's my problem with the game. I don't care about graphics but //design// and AESTHETHICS Yea that stuff bothers me.
Even though I hope the dev pulls through with the game and succeeds with it. So I can play a legal Freelancer spirit child. Like with Onirism, I will pay full price when the game it out, even if it increases by 30 eurodollars. Cuz now I'm too old to be playing with alphas and beta janks(who am I kidding, I was playing Elin earlier).
Which reminds me, gotta make copies of all my physical games, including Wii and PS1 and 2.

On other news just started the tutorial for Abiotic Factor. Another early access game I was waiting to be out and with a few bugfixes passes before giving them money. It looks like Source. You REALLY REALLY are reminded this is !notBlackmesa.
I dig it. More games should use this late 90's aesthetics. Like Voices Of The Void.

Anyway, pic-related is my boi. Wish I could have made him fatter. All day working in thermodynamics and whatnod and snacking all the time should have given him a big full belly. But oh well. Guess being more or less /fit/ due to lab work should be good too.

If you did ACS immortal mode and didn't savescum hard enough to effectively remove the ironman portion, you'd be the only person on the planet who didn't do that. Just open your save folder and make a copy of your save file elsewhere any time you want to save your game and move it back while you're on the main menu, it's easy.
Each location on your PC = one save slot.

So I've decided to buy some scifi doom clone called Beyond Sunset on a whim earlier and its pretty neato, cyberpunk themed where you are some cyber ninja clone who go kill techno yakuza and megacorps, nice controls and a ton of secret if youre into that but I do wish the energy gun could shoot a bit faster, given its the only way to destroy shield and these bastard love to dodge your shots. Level design is pretty good and tend to make sense, also visually its 10/10, atm in the Metacorp headquarter and the whole place is pure kino. Also seem to be of a good lenght, I have a few hours into it and im just at s1m3.

Neutron stars are especially spooky, any space travel around them would be akin to traversing a minefield, especially if they have a big jet, and given how quick they tend to spin its basically the equivalent of a many light-year long blender blades spinning at hundred of times per seconds. In comparison black holes are just super strong gravity wells you can safely avoid just by staying a reasonable distance away.

The idea is better than the execution. It's Space Engineers, but with things to actually do with your ship. Lots of shit both planetside and orbital to blow up and loot, multiple different factions to trade with (and blow up and loot), a wide variety of planet types to explore (and loot), and you get to shoot dinosaurs with shipboard plasma launchers.
In practice it's a cobbled-together janktacular mess with bad performance, abysmal combat, zero visual identity, endless bugs, glacial development, a fairly baffling control scheme, and is hard carried by mods. But despite that it still has more going for it than spengies.

I've beaten Daimon's true form. That was actually a really hard fight and I had to buy a ton of magick boosting items and check the damage formula to actually damage him. My reward: A staff!... Which I can't use because I'm a sorcerer and I use an archistaff instead. Nice... I also got a significantly more powerful armor that looks like shit so I guess I'm only gonna use it to farm Daimon.
May I mention that the damage formula is really dumb? Everything is a multiplier and damage has a set threshold where you either do no damage or a ton of a damage. Also it's not mentioned or shown in game that you can stack the same buff up to 4 times, resulting in a 1.2^4 magick multiplier or 2.0736 times magick. Which results in a significantly higher effective damage because of the threshold. Also your perks are multiplicative with each other too.

It was in early access, 1.0 will have the actual continuation/ending of the story.
>>
I wonder how the proper ending will be set up? With how much of a proper enemy Chronos + Typhon are, I can't really imagine how they'll make the runs repeatable post-game like the first Hades did, unless it utilizes Hypnos's dream world stuff.

>>
>>539073430
This one looks fun, but I've never been able to stick with a playhtrough for long enough to actually get to the point where you unlock all the shit it adds. Also it's for the legacy version of the game before the big room update, even though they keep saying they're working on an update.
http://fcstudioshub.com/subnautica/subnauticafcspda/
It's a huge base building upgrade though unfortunately the base building in Subnautica is a buggy mess, so I wonder how well it actually works.
All other mods I've heard about don't really interest me because they usually add more story, alien lore and alien tech and I couldn't care less about that.

>It's about an hour and change long
My apologies I take this back.
The main story is about an hour and a half to two hours long, but there's a post game I just became aware of which is at least an hour long, but I'd have to look at a fan made map or something to tell if I know of every secret now. I think there's more, could be a little or a lot I'm unsure.
I have no fucking clue how they're pulling out new mechanics and useable edge cases without actually giving the player new abilities or anything, I thought that well was surely tapped dry by the end of the main story but no there's just more and more using just stuff you could do all along.
>>

I grinded him a few more times. At one point I just stopped summoning my pawn because all she did was steal the aggro and waste time before dying. Now I'm level infinity with 4k base magick so I guess nothing short of a magic immune enemy can do anything against me.

That's what I meant, it's basic as fuck but it's such a fucking cool concept that it's a shame no one picked it up and ran with it. Meanwhile I've still not been able to unlock the worm valley so it looks like I'm going to miss out on the summer herb. At best I'll be able to get it next year, delaying my plans. I guess it wasn't that important after all because a much more important part of the plan has stalled badly, namely getting my agencies up and running, I've not enough people to set up any new ones.

Holy fuck I ahbor flying enemies in Silksong, they are pure fucking cancer to fight and constantly swerve all over the place like spastic flies. Combined with the on contact damage and how enemies love to just tank your hits and run into you make for a unfun experience. Tutorial
>>
>>539173161
I don't have much to say. When I alt-tab dragon's dogma dies 1/10 of the time and right now I'm doing the world's worst fetch quest. "From a different sky", why is this the world's worst fetch quest? 100 badges hidden through the map... You can only take 6 quests at a time, in order from 1 to 100 in a game with extremely limited fast travel. But that's not the worst part, they're MARKED ON YOUR MAP so you know exactly where they are. Apparently it was a fucking DLC FOR $0.99 PER 10 QUESTS!
So basically it's a fetch quest where you can't stumble upon the item by exploring, it's always marked on your map, you can only do 6 at a time, the reward is (sadly) good enough for me to bother and it cost money.
The game already has a much better version of that quest in the dlc with the macabre statues which took me a few hours to find except for the last one that I had to look up online because you can't reasonably find it after killing daimon.

there probably better games to play on a laptop too, mine had trouble dealing with VS and most other survivor games, due to how much stuff there is on the screen and poor optimization

There's a difference between walking the same path on the way to something you know you need and walking the same path on the way to the boss you'd like to spend more time practicing on than running back to.
Silksong is so awful in that regard but it's not even why I'm not having much fun, rather it's the lack of options to build your character, the lack of reward for doing side bosses, the dumb souls corpse run mechanic when everything in the game requires to pay rosaries, and the tools currency that you also have to farm when it could just replenish at the bench and that's it.

Which ones did you try? The genre is arguably full of uninspired thrash.

>>
>>539239509
Destroying a sect is a bit of a distant dream atm, there's a laundry list of things I need to do to get my guy into shape of varying urgency before I can even consider that, and the whole sect killing thing is secondary to the main point. I need level 3 halls in every agency location, sect killing is just to make it so I'm not fighting over people in the main locations.

Lol, lmao even. The dog has a bunch of max qi but his attack is absolutely atrocious, even attacking a qi shaping cultivator who's out of qi they can recover from their light injuries faster than the dog can bite them to death. Monsters usually come with several natural artifacts, he could probably tank for a bit while my main guy blaps him down with Firestorm, but he'd lose to either one of them as they can damage him but he can't really damage them back, and they'd definitely both attack together.

If they weren't woke, then they'd be produced by professionals. Ergo, all indies are woke.

You have the proof in front of yourself and you're either too blind or too stupid to see it, why should we pretend you're not trolling?

That's actually the second planet so not exactly "early", you're meant to start on the other planet.

Dug a tunnel to connect two lakes. I'll have to make it wider for sailboats at some point, but for now it works for rafts.

Shame you can't have thralls in Vintage Story. I had some fun in Conan Exiles building roads and watchtowers, with an archer manning it.

How are the water flow mechanics in VS compared to MC?
>>
>>539306862
Yes.
>>
>>539306862
More or less the same. Or at least same as it was a decade ago. I don't know if it was changed since last time I played. From what I've seen mc is completely different now.
>>
>>539308728
That's a shame. I though they'd at least have done something more realistic for that, instead of being a blatant MC clone.

>From what I've seen mc is completely different now.
???
MC's water flow mechanics have been the same for over 15 years.
>>
>>539309265
And you haven't played MC for at least 5 years, if not more.
>>
>>539309362
What are you talking about?
I don't remember any changes to the flow mechanics whatsoever between 2009-2025, aside from from one minor change that occurred at some point, making lava flow faster in nether.

Not sure if it's the right general to ask about rune factory 4 but do I really have to grind armor and weapon crafting skills to progress the story? Never played a RF game before and now I'm kinda stuck because the monsters in a cave after that fuckass squirrel stole Venti's charm from me are kicking my ass, they take a lot of hits too.

>>
>>539316520
There are some mean jumps in difficulty between locations, yeah.
Just keep working on your skills and eat bread until you can make something with whatever the highest materials available to you are.
Also doing the previous bosses daily for their unique drops might be nice since I think they had some decent effects if used to strengthen equipment.
The entire rune factory 4 crafting system is perfect to go full autism on.
