No gonna lie: I liked how Guda Guda did mechs. They incorporated them with some steampunk aesthetic and established them as weird, because the other setting is magical or more traditional sword-thing. I think that's missing with general PHH mechs. The ones in Guda Guda feel incorporated as a way to contrast the old mythology with new technology and advacement, while Nasu inserts them as "ancient god mechs from space are gods." The gods in Guda Guda ARE show to be organic or unseen. Takasugi trying to create a "robot" god is a defiance to this for humanity, not something "common."
