As someone for whom wow was never his main game but after understanding it now, I think all the devs and wow players fail to understand what kind of difficulty players want. People don't want a super hard stressful fight in a dungeon where they are relying on a bunch of other people to play perfectly. What people want is something like I saw on Throne and Liberty where you had these weekly timed solo bosses with lots of mechanics and you're competing to see who is the fastest in the server for each class to kill the weekly boss. You're only relying on yourself and not "wasting" someone else's time as you learn the details about the fight. I don't know why I haven't seen any pserver do something like that, I think you guys are too stuck in your own bubble and unwilling to roll with good ideas from other games. TnL had several systems that were much better than WoW's, it was just too pvp/p2w focused on the lategame and the leveling was kinda soulless.
