Honestly? This story isn’t working for me. Sei’s whole character is that she’s the weak protagonist that’s insecure about how much stronger everyone is, and beats her opponents through trickery and intelligence instead. I get it, she’s basically a waifu version of Joseph Joestar, but she wins races instead of murdering super-vampires, and he’s my favorite Jojo, so I SHOULD like Sei, but… …her gameplay doesn’t line up with that AT ALL. In cutscenes, she’s pulling feints to get King to waste her stamina, or losing lower grade races on purpose to get other umas to underestimate her during higher grade races, or practicing running uphill because she studied the next track beforehand, and knows there’s an uphill that will slow everyone down so she can take the lead against normally faster umas. But during gameplay, literally ALL she does is run in front as fast as possible, and hope her lead is so far that no one can catch up to her in the end. TEXTBOOK ludonarrative dissonance. I really do wish she was a debuffer like Nice Nature or something. Hell, they both have similar personalities of “not feeling like they’re the main character, so they go into every race assuming they’re gonna lose in a fair race. But ironically, despite her kit being based around debuffs, Nature’s story never mentions her being tactical, or trying to trick other racers so she can win. Meanwhile, Sei brute-forces every race with raw speed, while lamenting that she CAN’T rely on raw speed.

Air Groove is actually a really bad sacrificial debuffer because she has to survive a medium race campaign that needs ~500 stam and a gold rec to clear. What you actually want is a sprint or mile campaign uma who can clear their whole campaign on baseline stam/guts using non-front non-long heals/skills to get them through. Bakushin can clear most of her campaign with 100 stam 100 guts. Taiki never touches medium and can recover with gourmand to keep low hp req for campaign.you can also intentionally tank your career at the end by intentionally failing trainings to lower your stats even further and finish by losing a career race instead of actually winning ura finals, though you'll be tighter on SP that way. Anyway, the lower stam/guts you have, the easier it is for daiwa to pass you ASAP.
