>>538603116already dead thred
>>538604546They are stuck in the previous thread
>>538604751you mean the one that archived 5 minutes ago
>>538604818Lying on the internet?
>>538605048oh, never mind i hallucinated that
Haven't played cataclysm since early 2022. Is there any reason in going back? i heard kevin adding a cyborg faction for some reason
>>538605974Asking if Cataclysm is "good" in 2025 is braveBut not as brave as asking if it's "any better than it was in 2022"...I wonder, though.
>many roguelikes simulate body parts>but no roguelike simulates erogenous zones????
>>538606584be the change you want to see anon
>>538606584Notably, you can mod Dorf Fortress to add additional "limbs" which you can have "grapple" the other. You should be shot for doing this, but it's possible, as I remember some horrific greentext from fifteen years ago explaining....But DF Adventure Mode isn't a roguelike, so yeah. You better get on programming that already.
god I need to puff some nipple
>>538609018Nipple is for winners. What's your winstreak right now?
>>5386093934K/month
>>538613115Well, if that's your answer, then p sure a nipple costs a few hundred or somethinbe consistent
>>538603769
Even - play roguelikeOdd - play non roguelikePrime - work on roguelike
>2Hs have been ass in crawl for ages for a variety of reasons>they finally get some "buffs">instead of the obvious letting them roll more than one die for the their damage, they've added a rare glove ego and a mutation you'll never seewhy are they like this
>>538627231the obvious is nerfing shields into the ground.real fucking hard to justify a weapon that doubles or triples your incoming damage.
>>538627231Aids, probably aids.
>>538621413i'm pretty sure ai can't generate a drawing using a 1-pixel-thick line
>>538627231Sometimes it's important to look like you're doing something to fix a problem, especially if you don't actually want to do anything to fix the problem. See also: Trump pretending to punish Russia.
>>538635403Yeah. Honestly I just wanted to acknowledge the octocat somehow. It's funny.
My roguelike will take place in a necropolisWhat should I add?
>>538638815Dragon dildos
>>538638815Well, given ONLY that tiny fragment of information1. dead shitor2. Absolutely no dead shit. Here, you can potentially have fun with it. The audience expectation for undeath will be so strong that you can perpetually play with that expectation without even having to earn it. You can include any amount of magical bullshit, but then imply the existence of a vampire, who it turns out is just a normal corpse if you manage to open his casket, because it turns out that would be undead too, which aren't real. Mud and moss golems can look awful undead until you figure them out. Light magic can simply be resisted by every single thing in the game, or even heal some plants or fay. There's also no particular reason why your enemies have to be plentiful rats and elementals. Your primary enemy could be empty boxes with tough locks, by which I mean that you could make a roguelike about the efficient exploration of a hostile environment instead of direct combat. The walls themselves can be your enemy, and food your true life bar, with hp a mere currency you sometimes trade for free trap-disarms. Lots of central ideas exist for a setting, basically any setting.
>>538638815Ancient egyptian robots.
>>538641915Playing children's card games?
>>538639967>ghosts but it's actually all in your mind and they only appear when your sanity/morale/whatever is low>guy who was buried alive for some reason and now thinks that he's undead>zombies but it's the voodoo kind where they're normal people being mind controlled with drugs and suggestion>criminals dressed as undead in some Scooby Doo tier scheme>rumoured vampire turns out to be a blood-drinking but non-supernatural cryptid>ghouls that are actually human cannibals mutated and turned feral by a rare prion disease>wannabe Frankenstein trying to reanimate dead tissue, it doesn't work because reversing death is impossible but he still needs to be stopped because he's kidnapping people for his experimentsThere's always a rational explanation.
>>538638815just add some spooky cthulu shit or something
>>538648090>aaargh is that a racist black cat in my necropolis I'm losing my mind
>>538638815If you want death and undeath to be a core theme of your game, you could make some classes/playstyles that play around with the idea of death. In addition to your good old necromancer who summons minions, there could also be a class that revolves around dying or killing yourself. Think about it - You could launch your soul out of your body to dodge dark magic, you could gain stat bonuses after resurrecting yourself, you could have unique skills while dead, you could use your own mortal flesh as a zombie ally. You could take it even further if you make the necropolis a sandboxy world with various interactions and exploration puzzles. Need a body for a ritual? Use your own! Afflicted by a curse that affects you for the rest of your life? Kill yourself and come right back! Want to go down a deep chasm? Leave your body, nudge it towards the edge, hover down in ghost form, reconstruct fatal damage with fleshcrafting magic and slide right back in like nothing happened! All the possibilities could not possibly be thought up in a vacuum while writing a post on a mongolian basket weaving forum, but there's a shitload of potential here. If you want to play around with the concept of death, make full use of it and go wild.Alternatively, you could do what >>538639967 said, because that idea is absolutely brilliant, and exploration/survival-focused roguelikes with limited combat are a fairly untouched market.
>>538648184>racist black catHey now, that poor cat wasn't racist! Lovecraft's parents were racist for naming him that, don't blame the kitty.Huh, it occurs to me I've known dogs that were racist, but never a cat
