Missions with caves are completely glitched and don’t work. You can’t type in Strats (except reinforce?), when you do get called back you land on the roof 3/4ths of the time, on the surface Strats don’t even work to supply up because of the proximity to the edge of the map and the cave too, idk what’s going on there. The Objective Strats like oil thing get stuck on the roof. Fuck this I’m never going to a cave mission again. Ass garbage. Blows my mind how people complain about rupture jerks and bile dragons but not how the entire biome is a half baked beta glitch. Explosive tag counts for too much in this game. Closing spawners alone is strong utility but it goes way past that with the interactions between durable, chaff clearing, and now un-tunneling diggers. Frankly, all primary weapons that don't deal some manner of bonus effect are getting the uphill battle because they lack fundamental utility the explosive weapons do. To make that not true, the devs have to start designing more relevant shit that explosives are NOT good against, but every enemy is the opposite. That problem has to be fixed to seriously consider anything else on the same level as those. Once that's rectified you have to look at where all the ballistic weapons sit relative to each other. SMGs and pistols are, effectively, nearly interchangeable with ARs for most engagements. They've often got very similar damage potential, their baseline is lightpen all the same as ARs, and most are one-handed. The idea that pistol cartridges and buckshot aren't a relevant penetrative difference than intermediate calibers of ARs is fundamentally fucked by any sensible ballistic system trying to emulate these things. But there's another problem in that no-penetration weapons have almost no design role so they can't design shit around it, and SMGs/shotguns don't need a nerf anyways. To truly fix the problem they really need a thorough rework of the armour system.Working within the confines of the game mostly as it is right now I think the only real play is to normalize them at med pen and use damage/durability/RoF to predominantly balance ARs. Probably have to tweak up Marksmen rifle damage too or else ARs are gonna invalidate them.
