New @Ignister stuff is also really good in vanilla @Ignister, shockingly enough. I was able to make this board after getting my field spell search negated. 3 omni negates and a draw two with some protection isn't too shabby, but sadly it's not enough to beat a Tenpai opponent who opened Ash+2x Gold Sarc+Paidra+Field Spell+Heavy Storm. The deck is still only okay, but probably at least playable.

But without the field spell a lot of the @Ignister cards just rot in your hand, so you can't bring them back with Dark Templar, so you can't make non-Link ED monsters, so Singularity doesn't get it's bounces. Really can't overstate how critical the field spell is for the deck's main combo, but the new cards let you play around it to some degree. Before I would've had to end on Dark Infant and hope to survive til next turn.

They don't do anything and ironically there are a bunch of other Link-5/6 cards that are way better. You can make Firewall Dragon Singularity with the protection given by Gachiri @Ignister, which functionally makes it a Towers and it will have a multi-bounce quick effect for interruption. Pic related is the endboard you can get from a single A.I. Meet You searching Achichi. You unironically use 14 ED slots on this combo alone. Better hands can search Microcoder for Cynet Conflict as well. All this said, the 15th ED card is Accesscode, which isn't particularly useful just because the deck sucks at playing into established boards. So if you really want you could play The Arrival Cyberse.

Here's the decklist. I'm still working on ratios, in theory you could cut the Microcoder package for 4 more non-engine slots but I'm not sure it would be the difference maker. I'm also debating putting Light Dragon @Ignister where Accesscode is in the ED. You wouldn't use it, but it's a Light Cyberse monster with 2300 attack to reveal with AI Meet You to search Pikari. This would probably let you shave 2x Pikari to load up on even more non-engine, or lean more into the new support with 2x more Wizard @Ignister. But Achichi or Pikari are both full combo if uninterrupted. Be warned, this deck is like a Yugiboomer's nightmare. It's pure cyberse combo, and it takes some zone managing to reliably pull off. Thankfully drawing Mathmech Sigma doesn't cut your lines in half anymore, the AI Connect spell is extremely helpful for this since it shuffles back non-Dark Cyberse monsters to search. This deck can also V-Link but I don't find it particularly useful, since you'll always have at least 1 link arrow pointing up and that's really all that Malice needs.

I didn't bother running Ash because it doesn't really do much and Branded is decent at playing under Maxx C anyway. That said this was when Bystials were much more impactful. I could see eschewing some consistency pieces like Gold Sarc, Foolish, some copies of Fusion Deployment/Branded Opening just for more non-engine, but Branded is a deck that's very engine heavy even in 60 card variants. That's why you'd run board breakers like Superpoly/Droplet/Eclipse instead of hand traps.
Considering dumping the Kash engine for something more immediately useful, like Bystials. Any deck that gives me an excuse to run Kaijus is based in my book.

The bad news is that the two top decks are extremely dominant. One is a cyberse link combo deck (With all the baggage that implies) and the other is an extremely consistent Rank 4 XYZ strategy. Branded, Memento, Mermail, Tenpai, and White Forest are still playable but there's not much else. And not much else on the horizon until we start getting the Justice Hunters archetypes. Mitsurugi MIGHT be playable when it drops but it was a TCG exclusive so who knows when it'll come to MD. Also, the XYZ deck can make heavy use of it, so it probably won't be better pure.The only things in the near future are the remaining Maze of the Master cards (Basically just Odion at this point) and the new lore archetype in Artmage. Most everything else is legacy support aside from a bunch of Psychic free agents that seem like they could form a coherent deck but don't really seem to.

Tear mirror was fun in large part because it satisfied the gambling itch of both players essentially resolving Grass at the same time but even then half the time one would just win through milling shufflers. It had its moments and there still was skill to it but it also could be extremely shit. And even now there are lots of decks you can play in the current format. You'll put yourself at a disadvantage playing Branded or whatever but you can still do fine. In Tear format if you got bored of the mirror then you were screwed.Also something nobody wants to admit is that at a casual level not everybody on earth had a Tear deck. So a lot of the fun people had in Tear format was from dominating everyone who played anything else. That's a big part of the reason why there's no large Tear Format community of people who are playing the mirrors they claim to love.
