When I was driving home from work, I found a CRT TV dumped outside. It wasn't in good condition, but it was good quality and I knew that I could get it fixed, so I took it home with me. First I carefully discharged it, and to my surprise it seemed like it had recently been powered. Then since it was already wet (because it had been raining outside), I used wet cloth and nylon brush to clean its parts before drying it with air compressor. Just to be sure I left it air dry as well for a couple of days.When I was sure it was completely dry, I checked what parts were broken. Luckily it was only the antenna that needed to be switched, the screen was also a bit damaged but after some sanding it was acceptable. I also changed the anode cap to a new one and lubed its hole with grease.When I turned it on it had some color distortion but I managed to fix that. Now it's a perfectly fine home TV good for retro games but for some reason it keeps turning itself on when I'm sleeping and that takes lot of electricity. It feels calming when it's on though and it helps me sleep better so I'll let it slide for now.
