I don't know why people are acting surprised or like this is somehow shitposting. Blade of Courage is basically SatAM, Japan.The entire premise is a "whonic" plot. Sonic and a companion go on an adventure to find a cure for Crystallization. This is the same exact episodic formula SatAM used all the time with its "find a cure for roboticization" plots. It's a simple, effective way to have an adventure with a clear goal. It's a windnic depiction, with Sonic as the actual protagonist, not a supporting character in Chris's story like in Sonic X.The snake in chapter 4 just makes the comparison even more obvious. It's the plot of "Sonic Past Cool".Think about it. Compare Hissie to Baby T. In both stories, the hero's younger companion (Yuuta in Blade of Courage, Tails in SatAM) finds a lost baby animal in a jungle. In the beginning, they're unsure what to do, but then they decide they have to help it find its mother. Sonic, being the hero, agrees to help. It's the same exact plot beat. It gives the side character a moment of agency and independence and helps reinforces Sonic's core heroism without needing a big dramatic speech.This just proves that SatAM's characterization and story structure works, and that it's a lot closer to the Japanese vision of Sonic than this thread gives it credit for. I wouldn't be surprised if the mangaka grew up watching it.

Contrary to popular belief. Sally Acorn is not interested in tying Sonic down. She still argues with him extremely often, but it's meant to be a joke, it is not meant to be a dramatic thing you pay attention to. She isn't his girlfriend either. She says this in plain english in the episode "Warp Sonic". She wouldn't dare consider Sonic her boyfriend until the (canceled) season 3 after trying other men out.Sally's dynamic with Sonic is his foil. More Knuckles than Amy. Someone designed for Sonic to disagree with.She makes out with him because she enjoys making out and he is attractive. She does not feel deep love for him yet. This is an unfinished arc.Does this make Sally an amazing character? Does this make Satam a great show that understands Sonic? No. But this is an important difference to establish. Romance was less relevant in Satam than it was in Sonic X. The idea that it was a major part of the series comes from Archie.Now onto Hurst's dynamic with Archie. When I say Tails and Cream's personalities under the surface are generally identical, I am referring to how I described both as "ISFJ", and the stuff about their kindness and gentlesness and purity and whatever the heck also being the same.
