The story is very subtle because it relies on historical knowledge because the story itself is the actually ww2 battle where hundreds to thousands of people worked together in a single ship to determine their fate, every ship sunk is 100-1000s of people dead. There is no story at the same time but everyone does something with purpose. The events push the use of specific ships that participated in the event. Girls say a single line or two of happiness or despair and you have to connect the dots. When you hear a 1-2 second angry shout from a ship or a boss enemy as they attack, it speaks volumes more than any generic slop AL produces. When you spend hours fighting the same stage and the boss says their final sinking line and one or two girls cheer that they finally did it, you really feel their pain/achievement. Events have a small amount of girls with a small amount of lines or even new costumes that will never come back.

AL is just a standard gaccha where if you have strong units you just auto win. KC is not a gaccha game. Though KC closer to Uma musume in complexity and playstyle in the sense The hardwork is planning before hand, if you have to know the track like the battle irl. I literally spent 3-4 hours on a spreadsheet planning out ships for every event, in the mode people care, you many cases you can only use 1 ship per stage, and you find yourself locking 80 ships. You can't run an unlimited amount of times because of how morale and resources works. Events literally take me 30+ hours to finish. There are stupid amount of pathways and setups. Death is an important part in the game, ships take forever to level up, literally dozens to hundreds of hours and you can literally risk their lives and kill them permanently, they are ID'd too in the game so even if you get another copy they will never be the same. Death is the main factor that differentiates KC from the souless AL. Death has a deep meaning in KC because it can actually happen in game, you feel like the characters are actually risking their life in every mission. Almost every Japanese ship sunk in ww2, so every ships story by default is sad. I played AL solely for the collab. The sole point of AL is to just goon over the moe characters.

Seems to me like building SMilk is fairly easy too since she only really wants 4x ele dmg and then maybe 2x ammo lines for comfort so you don't reload in-between full bursts, but rolling ATK lines doesn't seem that important on her since the buff would be so diluted by her 118%/220% self ATK buff.I think crit rate, for her S2 distributed dmg, or ch spd, for the occasional full charge you have to do, could be good as well, but I really would only go for 4x ele dmg and 2x ammo.
Another thing I really like about Nikke's setting is that it's actually very similar to Kantai Collection. Heretics, raptures and Nikke are pretty much the same as the High ranking Abyssals, Abyssals and ship girls. Kancolle's story is pretty much nikke without human/ark politics or potential peace ending. A new alien force comes and tries to destroy humanity, but humans somehow create a humanoid being that uses similar technology to fight on an equal playing field (kamen rider like backstory). The non rikkers are shown to act like normal girls back in the ark but on the surface they are weapons of war used to drive back the alien force and retake the surface for humanity. I always felt that nikke's backstory was heavily inspired by KC or at least the same something KC was heavily inspired by. Nikke of course explores the humanity of nikke more. In KC when a ship dies their memories are permanently wiped and are implied to became an abyssal.

I don't macro, but I manually fast shoot yeah. It's not that difficult once you get used to it.The only thing that still feels awkward is the long full charge since you have to do it in-between full bursts when you also want to be gaining burst gen quickly. The best way seems to be to trigger the forced reload and then immediately switch to MAnchor to burst gen with her.
