It's not the main reason anyone is here for those.This remains true even for many contemporary games that do have an emphasis on romance. bg3 would still have been the blockbuster it was even without romance, and RT would still be runner up for best contemporary crpg without romances. It would still be an awesome adventure if you couldn't hold hands with Cassia and Kibbles.So to throw out a ballpark guess, I'd say that if the crpg genre features no romances, only platonic party friendships, you'd only lose like 15% of the playerbase. That 15% would be happily served by playing VN's and sim games anyway so they have plenty of other things to play.

Owlcat's games just inflate stats on their difficulties and their ironman modes are just the single save functionality. I played RT all the way through on ironman mode three times, but it's one of the worst for it because you can just get unlucky in a space battle and that's it. I love playing games on the hardest difficulty and ironman mode but the space battles sometimes not being your fault made it more stressful than it needed to be. I still did it but it was just annoying.

Ignore the gold-plated NPCs, they're backer content, have nothing to do with anything, and are often quite bad.2. Accept this aspect and enjoy the combat, or eventually just turn the difficulty down if it's too fatiguing. This improved with Deadfire.3. Each stat is helpful for every class, which means you shouldn't dump unless you really have a specific reason for it. It also means you can reasonably make strange things like the smart and weak barbarian or the muscle wizard. Those are the main things to keep in mind I think. I'd still recommend it to CRPG fans after my replay. Also, The White March 1&2 DLC is very good, some say better than the main campaign.
