Amy had a long nose in the classic eera and unlike Tails's snout that never got retconned in later games. You guys still don't get it. The age number, the actual birth age, and the physical appearance are not linked.Classic Sonic is younger than modern Sonic. Even with ages removed they are teenagers. Even if the characters clearly recognize the physical changes, it's more like family guy characters recognizing that they looked different in season 1. Years can pass in-universe and the characters will still be the same age.

The Classic Era exists to pander to people who do not like the modern era. As such, the lore implications of the Classi cEra are almost as devastating as the lore implications of Prime being canon. They simply make no sense.The characters in the modern era openly recognize the physical differences between the past and now. If you want to take this 100% seriously, at some point in time everyone's faces and bodies just morphed into the modern era. Not to mention that logically, Shadow's time on the ARK was during the classic era. But it's in the "modern past" so it's just different. The infant Eggman (who was likely a baby at the time of Maria's death or later) was born with irises that he would not retain into adulthood and then regained again because Eggman is too closely tied to modern era characters.In Pokemon terms, this is like how Mina is canonically 14 in Gen 1 (Thanks to Lets go) but also between the ages of 11 and 19 in Gen 7 (Which is set 13 years later at a minimum). This makes no sense. But her physical appearance is the same in order to keep her recognizable. Wally is also identical between Gen 3 and Gen 7 even though Gen 3 takes place at the same time as Gen 1. The characters iconography overrides any continuity.

Honestly, as much as I tend to praise the original trilogy, if you look at it objectively there isn't much to those games. That's not to say they're not fun, but they're a one and done arcade experience from point A to point B. You can replay it several times, sure, but that's where it ends. Those games don't even have time attack or ranks, let alone side activities like missions and collectibles (Emblems/Red Star Rings/etc). Compared to later games they feel very small and empty without much to do, very lacking overall. I know some of the rereleases tried to make up for these issues, but it's far from enough when you compare it to games like SA2 or Unleashed.

Ideally I think the best approach would be to remove the lower ranks and give each stage a time goal, a score goal, and a time+score goal. Forces has the rank for time+goal and time goals for each stage. SRB2 awards emblems for time and score separately. Both of those are very close to my ideal.
