The way I see it, it can be easy to be angry at Capcom for not putting out new entries, but I don't think it's necessarily fair to other developers who might just want to put the blue bomber in as a cameo or DLC. That's just kind of irrationally being angry at people who've got no say in what projects the higher ups at Capcom are pushing forward.

Also can't help here. Finding secrets is my favorite part, especially when you get to later games where there are way more things to find. And the locations don't get less obscure either.

Here I can help somewhat. Switch buster to a shoulder button. It's much better to charge on a shoulder than face button. Also later games add auto-charge. (I think X8 might take it away?)

Well this certainly gets fixed from 2 onwards

X2/3 get even worse on overtuned fortress bosses IMO. But later games have mostly easier fortresses, other than probably X7 Red.

As mentioned above as the series goes on it become more and more feasible to just buster all the way. The weaknesses will always seem random, but I found that's okay so it's not obvious what order you should fight them in

This is a staple of the franchise, so no avoiding it

Overall I'd say maybe use a guide and see if you like X2/3/4 better. Or it's also okay to move on

The brain damage only comes from not having a physical form, some flavor text from I don't remember exactly where implied that Joule also was starting to suffer from that problem in GV2. Also he seems pretty in control of his actual brain functions and doesn't slip into cartoonish nonsense like in iX1 during the GV3 fight where he still has his body.

Maybe. It's a shame because I really want to like this series because there's so many of them, and I've tried getting into them more than once over the years, but every time I end up disliking it. The one I enjoyed most was MM2. Maybe I should try more of the classic games?

It sounds like it probably isn't for me then. I never use guides when playing games and refuse to look anything up until after I've beaten a game, because I strongly feel that if a game requires outside resources for basic completion, it's a hallmark of bad game design. I like games that reward observation, even if it's done in slightly obtuse ways, and reward the player for piecing together secret locations logically (like a suspicious gap in the map in a Metroid game hinting there may be a hidden room, for example). Some of the secrets in X (like the heart container in the flooded forest stage) just feel like they were made to sell Nintendo Power issues to me or something, unless I'm just missing something obvious.

It's a thing X1 does. I think you're meant to feel weak at the start, then eventually stumble into Penguin's stage and get the unmissable dash, at which point the game open's up. And the 8 stages ARE somewhat designed to be beatable without the dash, mind you.

It wouldn't really bother me as much if it was strictly optional stuff, but I missed the armor upgrade capsule my first several runs because it was so well-hidden and didn't realize I was doing the equivalent of a challenge run because of it. In retrospect it wasn't that out of the way, but there was also no real indication that anything should have been hidden there from what I remember.

Does Legends require any knowledge of X or Classic? I've always thought those games look great but felt like I needed to play prior games first.

Your complaints should also apply to MM2, even more so with how erratic some bosses are and how trial and error things may get in the old games but if you liked that then sure try old classic games.

Piecing together secrets or exploits in games varies from game to game imo, once you figure out how a game or series work you'll understand its "videogame logic" and parse what they are asking the player to do. You are not accustomed to how megaman works but if you aren't in the mood to get through it just move on to something else.

You don't really need the armor if you figure out weapon effectiveness or vice versa. Collecting absolutely everything makes the game just become a power trip where nothing can stop you. Just try to get through with your own knowledge like you said and experiment with your weapons more.
A lot of people that aren't that into the series make the mistake to go buster only for the whole stages and only use them for bosses.

About half the boss weaknesses are intuitive enough. For the ones who have Rolling Cutter as a secondary weakness it's obvious why.
