There's so many details you miss or didn't understand the first time around that you could pick up on the second time around. Even simply knowing what the story's about lets you read into things a little better, like Dream Kel pointing out Dream Basil implied he'd be happier if they pretended he isn't there, or that Sprout Mole worried about if they'll all still be friends after school which could be a worry of Sunny's. Or just finding the secrets you never knew about the first time around but heard about later, like the different Black Space entrances or interacting with the grate in front of Keeper of the Castle's room, or the Mari Is Home room.I even found myself enjoying the parts of the game I disliked the first time around. When I first played the game and realized what the story was after that first Faraway segment, locations like Sweetheart's Castle and especially Humphrey felt like such a drag. I wanted them to be over so I could get back to the real story. On my second time around where I felt more like I could stop and smell the roses, I actually liked these locations. Mostly Sweetheart's Castle.And some parts never lose their impact, or hurt in new ways. Part of me thinks that first encounter with Dream Mari at the very start of the game was partially designed with a repeat playthrough in mind.
