I've been playing the remake all day today and it's kind of boring. It's probably due to me already playing the original and finishing Kai not too long ago. The game feels high quality for a falcom title but coming from Kai the game just feels kind of gutted. I understand they wanted to go back to how orbaments were in the original but the combat itself just feels off. It's a weird hybrid of calvard / cold steel mechanics but everything just feels kind of weak. Crafts feel so worthless in the game where you are just spamming arts every turn instead. I wouldn't say it's a bad game so far but it's just really odd. I guess it really isn't made for longtime falcom fans.

Everything in the remake is a pretty literal translation, even the controversial golem is a literal translation. Xseed really loved to add a lot of flair to all of the terminology and I guess the new team didn't read the entire memo. I'm guessing they kept jaegers as well since I haven't seen anybody complain about it.

At this point everybody will now that it's only the first part, but they're robbing people who never heard of it of the experience.I disovered it in 2021 per accident and played the original PSP version (without any FC in the title). It is kind of refreshing to play a Kiseki game that isn't tied down by the cold steel spreadsheet formula but Sky does have a shitload of issues with its actual gameplay. I would go so far to say that the remake has the worst combat system in any Kiseki game. It tries to be faithful to the original balance wise but then it brings in mechanics from cold steel and kuro. It just feels all over the place and the tourists won't see its flaws because its their only exposure to falcom. Even the field battles don't feel as fun as they were in kuro 2 + kai. I'm just not really seeing how this game is a 10/10 so so many jrpg fans but then rhe current kiseki games are just ignored.

Sky 1st proves Falcom can make good games when following preexisting design that's already solid. The quests and dialogue also shows their writers are a lost cause. Given that you can create everything out of nowhere with shards (eg Renne spawning a shard illusion of Pater-Mater) they should edit the game mechanics to include summons.
