Personally I'd lean towards Mutation Warrior or if you like hell knight aesthetics Armiger since dual wielding needs a lot of feats and fighter has everything you could want and more. Hell, if you use TableTopTweaks Fighter even gets Focused Weapon feature (basically treating fighter levels as warpriests levels to get bigger dice for your weapons). Pure fighter is also worth it for the capstone Weapon Master, there's no dip that's going to beat that.

If you are not small (e.g. a halfling) then you won't be able to ride it until level 7. To put it in perspective, you'll be around level 5 when you get to the final dungeon in Act 1. So you're playing a mounted class without a mount for a long time... you might regret it if you didn't know that ahead of time.Cavalier has this ability that grants all his teamwork feats to the party. It can be really strong, but, if you don't care about that, you can pick Gendarme which gives you extra combat feats, so you can get fat stacks of mounted combat feats, stuff like deflecting attacks aimed at your mount, brutal charges, that sort of thing.If you want some flavor, Cavalier of the Paw rides a dog (arguably the strongest mount) and is a halfling with some extra mechanics around commanding.Another good option is Mad Dog Barbarian, who can pick Horse at level 1. Something like Bloodrider (Bloodrager) is a bit more optimal, also very cool, but you get your pet at level 5 there. Paladin also gets a mount at level 5, by the way.

Just finished my first "Run" of Midnight Isles>Fighter>Magus>Cleric>Slayer>Wizard>My thoughts on the DLC, having played Standalone (Core)It starts off pathetically easy. The first two island sequences feel like they are freebies. There's not a lot of artifact variety. I got that +1DC to cold ring 3 times. It's... shockingly lifeless. They could have added some NPCs at the port to drop lore, some NPCs to meet on the islands, even some shitty fetch quests like bring back 10 leather armors. There's nothing. A merchant, a merc recruiter, and the ship.The store is shit. It doesn't restock, has no wands, and has a weirdly lacking selection (e.g. no potions of mage armor). Despite this, it's pretty fun to play. By the third island chain the game got pretty fun: you had a variety of enemies like golems, demons, slimes, undead. You get some "roguelite" elements as well since you unlock "tailwinds" pretty early on, these are new campaign buffs.Overall it's a fun mode, and I wish they had put in alot more effort into it because there's a lot of potential there. I feel as though there's something wrong with the way these recent crpgs allow attacking randomly as a dialogue option, especially for recruitable npcs. Or in the case of Rogue Trader, dismissal via 'bad end' like sending Idira to Heinrix.What I mean is when I dislike a character my impulse isn't to attack the character. The Varnhold's Lot DLC for Kingmaker was actually one of the few times I ever played a female character in a crpg. I thought it would be like icewind dale where you play as a party not an individual.
