Apologies for the late reply, but yeah, the scrap table does look severely impractical even if its part of the theme. I think that's part of the charm though
Also, the scaffolding is from Exosuit Framework. They're normally meant to be built alongside these buildings to help with maintenance for the suits, but I like using them for decoration too.

I was expecting a difficult fight but this thing just summoned lightning on everything until it died. Like multiple strikes in a row. And it can forcibly teleport all of your guys to random places on the map so if you try to set up a defense it won't work.

You activate it by sending a "transmission" to a foreign faction on the console the mod provides. It was pretty vague on what it said it was going to send, it just said "we're going to give you a hard fight." I just assumed it was going to be something manageable, like the Mechanoid bosses you normally summon, but I guess you need some really, really late game stuff to take these on. Not even the walkers put a scratch on it.
I'm gonna have to test this thing against some weapons from other mods and shit.

I came in knowing it was going to provide a challenge but I didn't read into the comments or look at videos to show what that challenge entailed.
Like I said, I assumed it would've been manageable since I also had some other toys from other mods (the exosuits), but I just underestimated how big the gap would be.
The raw stats and its abilities I had no idea about until it struck my colonists repeatedly with lightning and teleported them across the map. I probably could have read the comments or looked up more info about it online, but I thought that'd be too big of a spoiler. I still wanted to be surprised by what it brought, even if the surprise was unpleasant.

I was planning to build a massive shared throne for my 4 nobles, but got sad because it would be away from the main building, so they would no longer spent time together with their buddies.
So I am going to build it right in the middle of the current main building, moving the ranch outside the walls and redesigning the whole base, which will take a long time to finish, so I will need to build a bunch of temporary rooms for everything first.

No, most of it is themed as a sort of high tech laboratory doing shady research.
Security doors, bioferrite floor plating, electro/bioferrite harvesters, shard inhibitor, suppressors and more all require electricity and are made to look like they belong in a laboratory. Including it in a medieval run would be just for new enemy types, which you can do with a mod that adds only that and not everything else. The serum lab can look like it belongs in a medieval colony, but everything else is pretty much just hi-tech labshit.

No, but it does work like that for turrets. Mechanoid accuracy is reduced for targets in smoke, but fighting centipedes head on isn't a good idea regardless.

So far 50 days in, the colony is doing well. I wish there was a better "realistic darkness" mod. The Lovecraft one used to work but it stopped being updated with 1.3. Silent raids have forced me into the killbox, even so raiders are getting through and tanking it.

Major thing of note was Orange was married to one of the colonists who got sick, stripped naked, and did nothing but craft artwork. Since they were a prisoner when they joined, their artwork and coffin was put into the prison hold.

Yes, it's similar to how there's multiple tiers of ideological opinions on Apostasy, Autonomous Weapons and Cutting Trees, and all of them are various degrees of hatred. The "dont care" option for these is not having those precepts.

Other precept types are mandatory because the "normal" option is NOT a "don't care" option. For example: Corpses, Nutrient Paste and Fungus all default to some flavor of "it's bad" with mood debuffs, and can be manually set to an abnormal "don't care" option that doesn't give debuffs.

It's just a rule that exists in the game's design, hiding "normal" modifiers wherever it's reasonable. There's no "mid-tier beauty" trait because the absence of a beauty trait already means normal beauty. There's no "normal worker" trait, no "standard movement speed" trait, no "average happiness" trait, and so on. There's also no corresponding normal genes even if it would be nice to negate some xenotypes' bad genes. It's probably in Tynan's book somewhere.

The final mission almost redeemed things, but it was also a buggy and micro hell with the aerodrone strikes that were NOT blocked by the facility's shield, like it claims.
Fallacius' OP gun was a huge help in fending off the reinforcements. This wasn't at all what I expected the Emperor mission to be.

Post-Deserter ending left a lot to be desired. The mission shuttle despawned and I was forced to scramble my own shuttles to fetch my crew while they were getting bombed. The deserter network is now gone so I cannot reset the Divine Inferno gamestate. My location WILL get glassed again in 26 days. This colony is effectively over.
I sent most of my deserter crew their separate ways, and those that remain are seeing Fallacius off back home.

But I don't think I have enough fuel to keep doing that (the place is just at the edge of shuttle range).
What are your opinions on my plan, any tips?
Never tried anything this ambitious before so I'm afraid of it going wrong.

What is the best way to keep people inside when needed, I have way too many areas to simply stick them into a 'safe zone', it would be a mess to figure out what their original area was. If you already have deep drills mining steel I find it hard to imagine you really need to go through the hassle of stripping it from faraway places. If you can get some plasteel that's good but it usually doesn't come in large enough quantities that weight becomes big issue.

this guy one tapped every mechanoid i've fought so far except centipedes (they just have chunky hp so it takes like 5 hits). like ok he has 20 melee, but even if he had 10-15 he'd be able to do this. excellent monosword rips ANYTHING apart since it has (if i remember correctly) 30mm armor penetration and roughly 40 damage. centipedes have 22~mm so it is not reduced. melee in late game is lethal if you can get in range first.


if we're talking non late game, more or less basic: get a plasteel gladius and ballistic shield. if more advanced, shield belt/jump-pack and then plasteel longsword (this can't possibly be an issue even early game) on a melee 10~ dude and he'll kill mostly anything but not mechs. at least basic armor is needed obviously.

tl;dr main difficulty is just getting in range, which is very easy with a jump pack, if anything they're far more useful in CE in my opinion

Just Docs, quality weapons and shooting specs can make vanilla combat extremely lethal, like CE-level lethal, but without half a map shot range. No more bullet sponges. Most pawns go down in one or two shoots from a sniper rifle just from pain, blood loss or organ damage.
Only hussars can still fight with one leg, one arm and half brain.
It's simple, compatible and good enough for me.
