The game itself is rather shallow and you're playing it far more for the conversations and feeling of dread as the apocalypse happens around you. There's ultimately not a lot of consistency or hard rules to figuring it out and it requires some intuition and deeper thought, but there's not much to it overall. The endings ultimately explain nothing and there are a lot of them. The game is more allegory than substance, so there's no real payoff if you're expecting anything "hard". It's a game you can enjoy in the moment as you go through the days, but at the end of it all, there's a good chance of feeling "what was the point?". It does convey moroseness and dread very well, but it never really changes from it nor leverages it for any purpose. It's honestly a game you can get the majority experience from just watching on Youtube as well. It is interesting at the very least, just not rewarding. Whether it would actually be improved by trying to implement a "payoff" or "explanation" is however debatable as its themes seem clear in that being lost and not being able to know is a part of the game's message and reality.
