I have a confession to make
I never actually beat Hollow Knight
I did a long time ago before the game had DLCs and got the shitter ending, the one where you don't fight Radiance. I don't remember if I had the conditions necessary to even dreamnail THK cause I didn't even think to do it. When Hornet stunned him, I just kept attacking. A few years later I decided to replay it. I basically started from scratch and explorered much more, including the dlc stuff, but once I reached the end of the game, I didnt even attempt THK, ended up getting filtered by NKG, and didn't even attempt anything at all in the pantheon. I was getting burnt out on the game and decided to take a couple day break, which turned into a week, which turned into me dropping the game at the 90% mark

The one thing I really like about Silksong in comparison to other action games is that if you play well, you feel like you're styling on the bosses. Like Hornet looks so fluid, skillful, and impressive when she's played well with all the tools and skills at her disposal, and the bosses look like they're having a hard time keeping up. Compare this to Elden Ring, where the bosses have super cool movesets while the PC looks like a chump who barely knows how to swing a sword, even when played with great skill.

This, every other movement option in this game feels perfect and completely responsive, I never ever have to guess my dash distance or my harpoon range. The hunter pogo is the one and only time I ever feel unsure about where I'm going to end up and that's a death sentence in this game.

I like Hunter, used it the entire playthrough, my only complaint is how jant it seems to be against cogs or any small, circular pogoable environmental hazard
if you're just slightly too up or down, it'll do the pogo sound and immediately damage you, and I think it's because the hitbox is too skinny

Hunter feels good for 1v1 fights, but whenever you need really precise control of your air movement, like during the occasional bit of hard platforming or trying to juggle an airborne gank in an enemy gauntlet, it feels overly clunky in terms of what and when you're allowed to do. If Hunter worked such that the diagonal pogo was down+left/right+attack and down+attack was a normal pogo it would be the most kino shit ever

Also I think this is the best buff they could give Hunter if they really want to encourage more use, because I don't think the existing damage rampup is a good enough sell. Right now, even at max upgrade it only just barely out-DPSs Wanderer at max charge, so unless you are literally doing the fight hitless you get more damage out of Wanderer and have a way more flexible moveset on top of it. The math is simple, even for casuals who only care about the "more flexible moveset" bit. IMO making Hunter uniquely be able to do both down and diagonal pogos would be one of the tightest movement techs in the genre. If it's not already a mod, it should be.

It depends. There are a couple of times I chickened out of using the Hunter crest for platforming challenges, namely the path that takes you behind the door next to Pilgrim's Rest and the path to the surface (which I haven't actually finished yet, but when I did try it I wanted Lifeblood poisoning). And I think I switched off of it for part of the Cogwork Core because of the aforementioned jank trying to pogo off of cogs. But by contrast the Sands of Karak platforming felt really natural with Hunter even if I did screw it up a lot. Mt. Fay as another point of contrast doesn't really care what crest you're using, it's mostly clawline and wall jumping.

The clawline really helps with that. Both to get in on a flyer or to get out and around enemies. It can still be annoying to chase down some enemies like all those fucking coral snipers in Steps/Sands/Coral Tower gauntlets, but most of them are more manageable, especially with double jump.
