The rough surface is in no way the perfect geometric patterns in Mario 3 you absolute schizoid. The clouds being dithered never looked good, either. The rest, sure, maybe. Who'd buying Switch 2 shit anyway? No one who cares.

You have to keep in mind these are the pigs they're slopping. They don't care about a texture being a little different.

I think the comparisons to Mario 3 and Sonic (lmao) are pure schizo nonsense that make your argument seem stupid, you should maybe reconsider your infographic. That said, the Smash stage has the rough textures too and is probably its intended look.

What's even "PURE SCHIZO" about mentioning that platformers do squares since ever? And it's likely the same reason for both: technical constraints developers ended up leaning into for stylization.

If you aren't a tendie Shitch 2 shill, just take the W and stfu.

This strawman doesn't change that platformers use oddball patterns since ever and that it makes sense to point this out before a tendie/retard like you feigns confusion about why Galaxy would do that.

This just about defies belief for a system with such primitive 3D graphics. 3D accelerators much stronger than this had less memory. 64mb wasn't even common among enthusiasts til the early 2000s. It sure doesn't look like 64mb of textures on screen in any game.

I'm so lost on how to play Front Mission 1 on the SNES patched.

Everything besides the original JP version seems to be nuked when I spent half an hour googling.

I found out about the addendum patch for the 1.0b English patch, so I tried to patch my JP copy with the 1.0b english patch.

But then my checksum hashes dont match to what the addendum wants.
I looked for a pre-patched 1.0b but it seems like its disappeared.

I did literal "" searches for the md5 and crc for a pre-patched 1.0b, but nothing besides retro achievements with no links.

I found one site but it's a web emulator, and it's tagged as "bad dump." I also got a .smc file, instead of an .sfc? I can't find anything on myrient despite a reddit thread saying its there?

This shits confusing as fuck man. I just wanna play Front Mission 1 as God intended it. Help?
>>
>>540459671
Are you interested in mister results at all? I know it's not something everyone can just download and play, but it's at least another emulator and may have unique results. It may also be something for devs to copy or learn from, as those cores are open source as well.

>>
It may come to pass that the FPGA paypig scene may somehow incentivize advancement in free emus. I hope it trickles down anyway.
>>
>>540459671
A few things, that's not an FMV, it's actually just some scrolling 2D layers. It's also a composite mesh for the foggy foreground layer, cleared up pretty handily with the right shader. Your example video's capture almost surely has some sort of blur in the capture/encoding chain to make it look normal. Sadly, Ymir's dithering algo doesn't catch it as it's the weird jailbar kind.
>>
I'm pretty sure how it'll look on my TV + Mister is it'll show some faint signs of the composite mesh as I'm using a component cable, then go away once I turn on the core's fake composite blur. No real need, though. The results are pretty much already in the last post.
>>
>>540462207
Thank you brother.
>>
>>540464270
>>540464142
>>540462370
I tested it on the CRT + Mister anyway, though. On the TV, even with the fake composite blur off, it's like 90% right. Just goes to show much a CRT TV helps with this stuff even with a sharper signal. Mister to HDMI + LCD, however, looks like Ymir and Beetle w/o a shader, then looks like the shader when I turn the fake-blur on.
>>
>>540466259
I consider that a bug. If a game's graphics are completely broken because of a missing feature, IE shaders, it's a bug.
>>
>>540466934
A Saturn with a high quality signal to a flat panel would do the same thing. Please update your ticket with that. I'd love to see his interpretation of this 'bug'. Maybe he'll implement a new blur type or shaders if you're lucky.

You can make this a lot easier on yourself by googling "mame (version) sooner" and getting just the new roms you need off this RetroRoms site. You can then put it in a folder named after that version, and tell mame.ini to look in that folder as well. I have mine set up to look at 272, 273, 274, etc.

It's hardware behavior, and you didn't update. The dev has been kind enough to approach you in good faith and ask you if it's something unrelated causing the "problem", and you haven't answered him. Why engage with us if you're just gonna wipe your ass with it anyway? It's better help and more accurate than most people you could pay.

The only relevant thing Azahar brings to the table is a few optimizations that make the emulator lighter in some cases but Azahar has bugs that weren't in Lime or Citra and Azahar Plus is just Azahar with .3ds support. If you have a computer that can tank the performance just use Lime until whatever AI the Azahar devs are using gets competent enough to stop making new bugs every new commit

LSFG maybe, but ew. On console, this game's also one of those "PAL or NTSC?" situations because it was developed by bongs, so it may be that the slower PAL version is the intended speed.

I got it on release. Even forced my parents to get me a PS2 for that game. The game was ok for the first few levels but then the shittieness reared its ugly head. It was very buggy. There's 1 level where it freezed a lot so I don't know how emulation handles that.

I think some of those games froze because they were a little overzealous on the data streaming. I remember Metroid Prime being a little unstable on a real GC.

You could add some Fatal Frame (I-II-III) if you dig some survival horror. Some Armored Core (A fuck ton of them) if you dig mechas and pain (fromsoft game pre-Souls) and some XenoSaga for more weird JRPG. Some Final Fantasy for more maintream.

You could probably stand to play the remaster for this one if you can handle PS3, PS4, or Vita emulation. Its one of the few good vidya remasters out there since it also contains the original game if you don't like the changes.

>Dragon Quarter
It shines in a few ways. It's short, but it also expects you to have to start over at least once with some stats/knowledge held over from the last run. It's a bit Dead Rising-esque in that way. The turn based, small-scale-SRPG style combat where you can move anywhere within a sphere per turn, with a ton of emphasis on your position and what attacks work where, is really well executed. You're also given an OP form to use in desperate situations, but once you use it all: that's it. It's game over. It also has a kickass Hitoshi Sakimoto (Radiant Silvergun, FFT, Vagrant Story) soundtrack that's extremely him.

Yeah its a remake, they tweaked the gameplay a bit to make it a bit so its a bit easier than the original. The game also contains the original PS2 game so if you don't like that, you can play that one instead classic sprites and all.

I'm the anon who asked about DS emulation and games a couple of days ago.
I tried MelonDS as recommended on my potato phone and it didn't work for shit. It would simply not run anything above 15 FPS and some games it wouldn't run at all basically.
I tried Drastic as was also recommended just in case, and also because I noticed MelonDS didn't give me any configuration options unlike emulators in general.
Drastic ran all the games I tested: Chrono Trigger, FE Shadow Dragon, Love Plus, Brain Training, Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution, Nintendogs, etc.
It also gives me lots of options for config, and it seems to bring a built-in cheat database with it.
10/10.
>>
>>540682652
I had no idea how MelonDS performed in phone-world. I just know it's the premium experience on PC and the only way to go for DSi. At least now I know it's suboptimal on Android. I don't think stapletroon maintains that version either, so it makes sense that it may not be fully featured on Android. Glad Drastic worked for you.

and yeah I was using Drastic on some Nexus back in 2014, I imagine it'll run on anything.

Just beat the game SMB2US was based off of, it's not that bad aside from not being able to run. Instead of that faggot rock throwing crab boss you just fight the bomb throwing rat instead. There's a few minor differences in the map, like in 7-2 you can bypass an annoying part by power jumping over a column with any character, whereas in the NES version you can only do it with Luigi and Peach. Also the character Luigi was based on is a pregnant woman named Mama. The ending theme song is better than the one in the NES version.
>>
>>540692686
You should check out the SMB2 beta. It's an interesting in-between mix of DDP and the final SMB2 where running is still not implemented and potions are still lamps, but there's a couple other neat things not present in either version, most notably a unique rendition of the SMB underground theme. It also has a world select feature that was probably used for debugging, though the game doesn't indicate it. However, it's possible to select beyond world 7 and access glitch worlds with it.
>>
>>540693479
Thanks, gonna check it out tomorrow. Speaking of glitch worlds, try going to the minus world in the FDS version of SMB. It's completely different and spans a few levels.

Nintendo made leaks completely useless for emulation. Nobody will take this to make a new emulator or improve existing ones. Only a madman from Russia or China can do it but there were leaks already and nothing so what does this change for emulation? Nothing. Nintendo strikes fear in the hearts of emu devs.

I've gone through 2 xemu's and they've crashed on me eventually. For the first one, it was after I changed to widescreen on the xbox menu. For the second one, I don't know what happenned, but towards the end of a game (Ninja Gaiden Black) it just started crashing, either shortly after the game has booted, or a minute or 2 after I'm fully in the game and playing. It took quite a while before I ever encountered the issue. The first time was almost at the same point in the game. The second a bit later. Were I to guess this is related to the HDD file but I wouldn't know because I'm a pleb.
Advice? The info in the troubleshooting page on the xemu website. I tried some trick particular to a windows 11 crashing issue but it didn't work.

Sorry I didn't finish that part because I tried the windows 11 thing then came back to typing this post, but what I was going to say was, the infor on the troubleshooting page doesn't look like it applies to my problem, thought I'm not really sure. People really shouldn't save interlacing shots midframe. It gives the impression that half the vertical resolution's missing and looks way worse than the content would without shading or on a CRT with interlacing in motion. You should probably implement some sort of compositing/blending in your shader/emulator rendering settings because it's probably closer to what you're seeing in play and people will just call your shader shitty looking.

Paid emulation has worse artifacts and lag than the free stuff. It's trivial to use a computer in the living room. Lapdesk, HDMI cable to TV, wireless controllers/keyboards/mice. Or go for a minimal controller driven UI on boot. My main daily driving setup is in my living room.
If you mean emu to CRT that can be done easily with an adapter if you don't care about 240p and native resolutions. It's more of a pain in the ass if you do care, though.

Metroid Prime. Those go away if you fuck with GPU sync options and/or disable dual core. Recently they've disabled dual core by default and they'll likely stop improving it and may decide to rip it out altogether. A bit of a shame they can't just fix or rewrite it. That'll affect usability on lower end devices quite a bit.

Downloading a new artifact and overwriting your previous falls, all manually. Beware, if you're going from a pre-5.0 version to a new one with the machine selector front-end, you may have to rebuild your virtual machine, but you can still use the old drive images.

Oh god, I haven't touched any of the LAN shit. Maybe the guy compiling justwerx 86box compilations has. Now I kinda want to fuck with it. Modern Internet via 9x compatible browsers on a 400mhz guest and low memory will not be a good time; you'll pretty much be completely limited to novelty archives like theoldnet or oldnet.today. If you want to make an attempt at browsing the modern web you'll probably want to use some hacky retro community browser fork like K-Meleon or MyPal.

>>
>>540855054
justwerx guy here. No, I don't lol it's entirely beyond the scope of what I or most people using 86Box want to do with it. I do believe the 86Box dudes themselves put out some videos on configuring Windows 98 with working LAN/Internet support, though, and I can't imagine it's all that different on Windows ME.
>>
Speaking of which, one interesting thing I've found about the performance of 86Box is that on my machine, if I use a 200 MHz CPU or more, just doing simple things on Windows like clicking on the Start menu or opening a new Explorer window will bring the emulation speed down to 50% or less, but upon starting a 3D game like Fury3 or Monster Truck Madness and getting into the gameplay itself, it will stay at 100% almost all of the time. Seems like Explorer taxes the CPU more than the games themselves do. Of course, hardware acceleration may have something to do with it.
>>
>>540859534
I've noticed it too, I think it's something with the IDE/disk IO that PCem and forks hate. If it was hardware acceleration the game would be the problem.
>>
>take a day off work
>decide to fuck with KernelEx + browsers in low spec Win98 in 86box
I guess I really am sick.
>>
>>540860062
Right, I should say hardware acceleration seems to be what helps a lot with performance, though even then it's surprising because Fury3 is software-rendered and it only starts to slow down for me at 266 MHz.
>>
Could I just have a decently running 733mhz guest, 86box hacks? Can I just have this low bar?
>>
>>540861454
At that point you'll likely just want CPU virtualization, and they've expressed they would welcome it but it probably won't happen for a long time.
>>
I also need to get around to testing if tools like setmul even do anything on 86Box. I know it's silly because you can just make a new, slower machine, but still.

>>

>>
Another minor annoyance I have with 86Box is that you're limited to only one MIDI output. You can have multiple sound cards, so it ought to be possible to have each one output to a different MIDI device, so ideally you'd be able to have MT-32 emulation together with either SoftSynth or something like Nuked-SC55 without having to restart the machine or load a different config. I see at least one guy's brought it up in their Discussions forum, though in the context of sequencers:

Make sure you have the driver installed for it (you can share folders from your host PC as a CD-ROM drive from the menu bar, then you can sideload the driver to your guest), then just select a generic monitor that has the resolutions you want. As far as networking/internet goes. You select one of the Realtek PCI devices at the bottom for your virtual machine, then sideload a driver to it the same way. Then browsers and FTP should work. Maybe.

Sorry. Yes, it's Ninja Gaiden Black that's crashing on me, and it crashes towards the end. I know details help, I was just asking how I could troubleshoot that myself outside of merely asking others, but yet, NGB is it.

I've played it on 2 different xemus. The first time, I got to about the second and final Doku fight before the issue started happenning. I also had changed the xbox to widescreen in the xbox settings (not to be mistaken with the xemu settings). It was shortly after my game was booted up, about a minute of playing, that the game would just freaze, maybe stuttering a bit beforehand.

After this the emulator itself wouldn't even boot. I removed the game from the dvd path, and I tinkered with a setting in the toml file which then lead to it working again, after which I switched off widescreen, but then the crashes happenned again after going into the game and playing with my prior settings.

On the second emulator, I went with widsescreen from the start. I got PAST the point at which it crashed on my first emulator, but still just about the same area of the game. Progressed further to about the very end of the game, and now it's crashing too. Before the second xemu crashed, there were points where certain attacks would make the fps drop and the game would stutter pretty bad, but it didn't kill the game straight up.

Have you tried the absolute latest actions/artifacts?
https://github.com/xemu-project/xemu/actions
You can switch between OGL and Vulkan renderers. Have you tried both? You can also fiddle with the realtime DSP. Are you increasing the resolution? Maybe you're going past your computer's capabilities or Xemu's ability to handle it. Of course I could suggest a newer video card driver and make sure you're generally running cool/stable, but I sorta doubt that's it. Intermittent shit's a bitch. It would be better if you could recreate it.
>>
that it's crashing your whole PC on occasion does make your host system a lil suspect, though. You may want to check event viewer System logs and your temps when you're playing.

It must have been the .nsp I had. After more fiddling it seems to work now and it shows 1.1.1 on the title screen. Only way I can make it crash now is putting the original nsp I had back in place of the new one.

Why in god's name did you install ME instead of 9x? Now you'll have to patch it to have full DOS functionality. Once you do modify it, it'll run most DOS games either within Windows or exiting to DOS.
https://myrient.erista.me/files/eXo/eXoDOS/Full%20Release/Content/GameData/eXoDOS/
Some extra shareware and obscure shit can be found in TDC:
https://ia800906.us.archive.org/view_archive.php?archive=/4/items/Total_DOS_Collection_Release_14/TDC_Release_14.zip
Win9x (which includes ME) will also run 99.9% of Win 3.x games. Sadly exo's a faggot and it's torrent only now:
https://www.retro-exo.com/eXoWin3x.torrent
Here's a shitload of CD-ROM Windows games, sadly they aren't labeled by year, though.
https://myrient.erista.me/files/Redump/IBM%20-%20PC%20compatible/
If you have a TOSEC CD-ROM collection for direct download that labels them by year, I'd love to know where too.
>>
Just smash it and install Win98 instead. You goofed. There's no way Me will benefit you under 86box's specs, and it will only get in the way.
>>
Anyway, that's the best way I can think to answer your question. PC archival's a bit messier because of all the amateur/shovel-slop and this isn't really a console situation where people made games just for those things you listed. There are games that only run or are best played on 3dfx cards, though. By SB128/Win9x sound was a lot more generalized, outside of Aureal Vortex and EAX cards, which aren't emulated anyway. So yeah, anything from 99 (and for performance, 98) on down from those sites.

Beetle, Ymir, and distantly SSF are all decent emulators. SSF still runs a few games the other have trouble with, but it's getting a little crusty in features and the scaling/shading it it's pretty bad. It's still early days for Ymir but the dev seems dedicated enough to make it one of the best. It's very easy to use and runs most of the games at the moment.

Kronos and YabaSanshiro are ass unless you absolutely need to render the games in HD, and it does that with mixed results.

Windows ME has higher system requirements than Windows 98, so it requires a beefier emulated machine, and that of course means you need a better CPU to emulate it at full speed. If you want speed, you can look into installing Windows 98lite, which strips out a lot of bloat and makes it use the older Windows 95 shell, which makes it run a decent bit faster than vanilla Windows 98.

How are you implementing them? Reshade will be more difficult because it's generally harder to get it to respect the original resolution of the content and scale it out right. It looks like it's receiving the wrong internal resolution. I recommend using Retroarch or Shaderglass if you can.

I'm using Duckstation's own Post-Processing option. I think it's some kind of implementation of reshade because I had to place them in a reshade folder within duckstation's folders for them to actually show up in this menu.

Maybe I'll look into Retroach, I haven't tried it yet.
>>
>>540972524
Duckstation's shader implementation has always seemed kinda assy to me. I can see if I can get less broken results with it anyway. You can also apply Shaderglass on top of it. If you do that. Make sure you're running it in as close to 1x integer scaled window if possible, or if it's a multiple, make sure ShaderGlass's input settings are set appropriately. Integer, nearest neighbor scaling is extremely key for shader input, though.

>>
>>540973525
Well, that scaling is what I'm referring to if you offload it to a 3rd party shading program. As for Duckstation and its own shading, it *should* be smart enough to do that regardless of your rendering settings outside of shaders.

The text is now much more readable with the same settings to the shader itself, but there are still parts of the text that are "blocked" out, that is annyoing like BonusPoint,'s o right after P, and Cm Vest 1's C's beginning is missing. Is this normal when using shaders or something is still fucky?

Under ShaderGlass Input -> Pixel Size -> it's set to 9x because 1x looks horrible, like I set no shader at all, really weird. 9x looks like roughly how it looked on Duckstation but the text is better. My display is 4k, 48 inch OLED screen.

There's something most definitely wrong with your input/base content before shading or how your shaders are reading the base content. The pixels being flat out missing looks like the game's being rendered or displayed at a resolution slightly less than native. Did you check all settings here?

My shaders both within Duckstation and otherwise aren't cutting Y axis pixels out.

So that means this is just something I have to deal with if I want to use CRT shaders?
>>
>>540978202
Okay, so we know the emulator is rendering the content properly, so what's left to figure out is why it's getting pre-scrunched, throwing columns away, and sending to shader. You'll just have to fiddle from here. I imagine if I were sitting there I could kinda see what's going on, but you're like 95% there. Could be the pixel size input wrong in ShaderGlass, but it's doing almost the exact same thing in Duckstation's native stuff. You may want to make sure the window size itself, is a multiple of the game's content and Windows isn't being a nigger and shrinking some off, ruining your base content before sending to ShaderGlass.
>>
>>540978823
>just something I have to deal with
You shouldn't, honestly it just seems like some little quirk in your setup, or Duckstation being stupid before exporting it to shader/ShaderGlass. Could you take a screenshot of Duckstation rendering it exactly at 1x, windowed, including window border? If it looks fine there, it absolutely should export to ShaderGlass properly.

Okay we're getting close to the problem. That's not literally 1x and it's likely scaling pixels a little lower, a little higher, at that window size. There's even some letterboxing. You need to make the window a literal multiple of the game for it to export to ShaderGlass as expected. I noticed that 1x using picrel makes Duckstation shrink off some pixels because either the jeets at Microsoft or Stenzek sucks. So, use 2x. Then tell Shaderglass to grab the duckstation window as pictured, and use 2x input. As for why Duckstation itself is doing it, shruggo.

That doesn't seem to solve the issue, I'm probably not following you correctly but I set the screen size to 2x as yours, but my issue from the beginning is if I set it to full screen it blocks out part of the text, and sure enough as soon as I set it to full screen the issue persists. Interesting. Those same games/demos work standalone in A500 mode, just interesting how the FPGA A1200 mode seems to be overall more compatible. Makes some sense, though, as MiSTer started off as a fancy Amiga emulator.
>>
>>541032697
Try to uninstall the offending driver in safe mode before you take a hammer to the install. Another chipset could help, but I bet it's something else. Also there's little point in using SB128. Just use ISA SB16. You'll see zero drawbacks and it'll be more compatible overall. PCI soundcards were only worth using for advanced audio acceleration like Aureal and EAX, which 86box doesn't emulate and 128 doesn't support. The Win98 disk may straight up have a driver for SB16 too.
>>
>>541032697
If you do have to nuke it, consider reinstalling with this as Win98's installation sucks and takes forever, as you surely know:
https://github.com/oerg866/win98-quickinstall/releases
>>
Also, you may want to just copy the Win98 disk's contents on to your drive. You'll find yourself needing it for just about any driver installation or component installed.

It's a shame 86box is a clear UX and feature upgrade but loses what has to be 33% of the speed. I could swear I was doing 400-450mhz with little issues on a fucking Haswell. I know the guy who defends them doesn't want to hear it but they're kinda hacks in a way.

>>
>>541034682
The 86Box team claims the difference in speed is because of "accuracy", but did PCem have any problems caused by it's "inaccuracy"?
>>
>>541035006
Think that's all, there's some sub configuration you can do for a few but nothing that should affect much. It should also work just as well for ME as ME is just 9x but worse.
>>
>>541035079
To be honest, I haven't noticed any difference outside of the performance and UX. To be fair there are a ton of UX improvements. It was straight-up awful in PCem. The fullscreen/window and mouse control was so disgusting. 86box's lag is pretty low now too, esp if you run it at high refresh rates in exclusive fullscreen.
>>
>>541035146

>>
>>541035346
It's true that when it comes to features and UX, 86Box is much better than PCem, but it's just a shame you need the absolute top consumer CPU to emulate a 450 MHz P2
Dunno if they're going to work on performance or if they'll let it "fix itself" by waiting for users to have more powerful CPUs in 5 years
>>
>>541035829

I concur. I tried using the SB128, and not only was finding a good set of drivers a bitch because of the whole Ensoniq being bought out fiasco, but even once I got it working well, it sounded a lot quieter than the AWE32 before it even with all volume sliders on max. Not only that, its DOS compatibility is ass, as it achieves it through very subpar emulation, and its built-in wavetable sound is very mediocre, not to mention unnecessary when you can just load a far superior soundfont through SoftSynth. I just saw nothing good about it, so I went back to the non-PnP AWE32, which is fully compatible with both DOS and Windows once it's set up correctly.

The problem was that the 86Box devs forked pcem too early because the pcem dev spent the next few versions optimizing the fuck out of it. and because of that the only way to get 86Box close to what performance pcem had in the end is to scrap most of their work on 86Box and start over with the last pcem release.

The early Windows shareware/'indie' scene was pretty gross. Decent DOS games from the likes of Epic, Apogee, and iD felt like Amiga on steroids, and the games ran closer to the 'metal' with much more impressive visuals. Only the most skilled (and funded) devs could get similar results in Win3.1 and even early 9x til DX became more ubiquitous. Most of the shit on Win3.1/9x discs were depressing visual basic menu sims and they all used the same assets or sub-Chris Chan MSpaint 'art'.

eXo6 is highly designed around the client, which is itself a huge install. Don't be disingenuous.
>download 100gb
I'm not, eXo in any version is clearly not designed for that. I'd only download individual games from that collection. TDC, however, is a reasonable choice to get a full floppy/BBS set from if you smartly remove all the demos, installers, languages you don't want, CD games, other chaff and redundancies. I have like a ~40gb set of all floppy DOS games from TDC right now.
>3x
I was referring to the more recently mentioned 3x collection, the one I linked on archive.org. I should have replied to it. eXo's shit is just generally bloated for the sake of userfriendliness though.

I'm not saying it doesn't have a point, I'm just saying if you want it small and fast and if you have any skill whatsoever, getting the loose games is usually a better choice. His releases are cleaner overall I'll grant you.
>>
>>541073663
It is far from unreasonable to make a DOS hard drive image that boots into a front-end that works with 99% of floppy/BBS games. I have such a setup on my real computer, sourced from TDC. CD, sure, that's where it gets hairier.
>>
>>541074076
>I never had a problem parsing the proper versions of games on TDC and configuring them. It's not hard.
You are the same person that said you will just bump up the speed if a gama is running slow. You have no fuckign clue about running dos games. And saying you had no problems is literally meaningless.
>eXo6 is highly designed around the client, which is itself a huge install. Don't be disingenuous.

??????
> I'd only download individual games from that collection
So the same as total dos? You download what you want?
>TDC, however, is a reasonable choice to get a full floppy/BBS set from if you smartly remove all the demos, installers, languages you don't want, CD games, other chaff and redundancies
That is a lot of ifs, plus both are 500+gb collections.I would say they are both bloated.
> have like a ~40gb set of all floppy DOS games from TDC right now.
That is very limiting, especially since most games later came at cd's? That is practically nothing compared to the good library. You are looking at 100+gb for a best of most genres collection.
>>
>>541074683
>CD, sure, that's where it gets hairier.
That is kind a of a big problem considering some of the best games came on cd's.
>>
>>541074960
Okay, then at that point I will use his release or the TOSEC/Redump ISO, or a loose one somewhere. Having a full CD collection is just not reasonable for any system. I just don't think his system is very smart or neat for smaller games or having a massive amount of games on hand.

Are you getting what seems to be hitches that smooth out over time, emulation speed under 100%, or both? You can try OGL and Vulkan and fiddle with async to see if that helps for hitches. As for emulation speed you may wanna underclock the 3DS.
>>
>>541203419
I'd say it's enough to get by but not on a Pentium and one has to keep their expectations low. We're definitely not at a "I can pretend it's not emulated" state though.

I'm broke, but I just looked it up and saw mostly Celeron and Pentium under $150. There are some older i5s, but then again I'm broke. Maybe if I sold my current one I could buy it, but then again I don't think I could sell it for much, and there's the shipping costs.

Passmark isn't be-all-end-all but it's decent for a quick summary of a CPU's strength. Try to get as high a single thread score as possible. You typically want north of 2000 for emulation. Multithread is great, but typically doesn't come into play til PS3 emulation. 2000+ w/ 4 threads/cores is bare minimum, though. Obviously more is better.

Yes, this *is* possible over CRTemudrivers but let me tell you (with a CRTemudriver machine sitting right next to it) it's not nearly as easy or handy. the new NetherSX2 is actually a huge improvement over the old one that you had to patch yourself, the RG505 used to struggle playing the intro in Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2 and have a lot of audio lag, it fixed a lot of it, pretty cool, now it's at 60 fps
I also get 25ish fps playing Persona 4 Gold with vita3k
and I'm getting 60 fps on the Fire Emblem Path to Radiance intro using Dolphin latest dev build, I don't remember what fps I used to get

I found this emulator compatibility site that tries to list all emulator's compatibility with all games.

The UI and navigation is shit but I kind of like the idea for certain emulators that's a complete mess of information on compatibility(Switch).
>>
so, for 3ds, the best way to store the games is storing decrypted .cia files, right? .3ds don't work on cucked emulators, and encrypted .cias don't have any reason to exist anymore.
the only way to add DLCs to games is installing the game with a decrypted .cia and then installing the decrypted .cia DLC, right? there's no way to add DLCs to .3ds files, right?

it's weird because .cia files need to be installed and .3ds just run, so when you use .3ds it's like you're loading a rom but then you're "installing" dlc I don't even know where because the game itself isn't installed.
I just wish people would find a way to bake the dlcs inside the games already, there are so few dlcs to manage too

well those are much more expensive sadly and ARM has the battery life advantage, this is the only type of device I'd go with ARM because it's main issue is having native development for it instead of using a translation layer from x86 and, in emulation at least, we do have devs working on ARM versions, so it's a pretty decent option
I would never buy an ARM laptop tho

*transitions between menu screens. Hard mode: no hacks, like running the whole game in 480i mode. You have to transition between 240p and 480i like the game did. Don't you dare lie to me, because this has already been discussed in the GroovyArcade discord. The devs know it's a difficulty on PC.
