And again his unique spell doesnt do much frontline, para doesnt hit much and its costly. At front he doesnt get chance to cast much debuffs either I rather hit. Backline mage he is just worse than using real mage or my bow thief. I guess I just have to roll and try get some light armor gear that has both ATK/MAG with def/evasion stats so he can do more damage with his spell while still swording, but then his stats will be too spread around and just suck at everything more I think? This game just favours focusing on one thing much more to me it feels which holds him back. He is fine at lower level stuff of course but I fear abyss 4 will be too much for him and I have to drop him for good for actual fighter or mage depending on position.

You will farm ebonsteel from the optional side story caverns, and b3f boss unlocks a better farm through Arna. There will be account quests asking you to +10 6 weapons and 6 armor pieces so you can do that on steel with aspd or something to push deeper into Guarda.
