I kinda like that Sonic has some very different renditions in threads to its setting, characterisation and it makes it fun to look at what stands out from entry to entry or what doesn't personally work for me.
I keep saying it but Blaze's relationship with both hedgehogs is defined by seperation; being on vacation undermines the entire point. Like if you look at any canon non-IDW material they have good reason for Blaze showing up and then send her home and this seperation is always framed romantically.

Eh. Some people here have called me "Windfag" and I can attest that I do not like how Sonic is characterized in any of the comics and it actuallly reaches a point where I just don't see him as the same guy at all. With that in mind I've still been able to enjoy Archie, IDW, SatAM, the movies, and Boom . I would absolutely prefer that Sonic acts exactly like how I imagine he does from the games but I know that can't be helped so I don't really get bothered by it. I detest the term "Windnic" to me that's just Sonic, but I understand the communicative use of that. I don't like to get into characterization arguments ever, feels like a waste of time. I just got done reading tons of old Sonic retro posts and Sega forum posts on the Wayback Machine.The praise that Ian gets for Archie cannot be removed from the context in which it came out. I don't think it's good but I'm a person who only read Archie after 2020. It's just obvious.While Ian started writing in 2005, his reputation only becomes evident in 2007. Where hiindsight allows people to positively reflect on his writing. (The fact that Chronicles comes out the next year is relevant. Ian effectively had two years of unmitigated creative freedom before the REAL mandates started flying in and cutting everything to pieces). As you already know, he was highly praised for not devolving the comic into weird shit the way Penders did. Penders would start filing his copyrights in 2009. At this point in time, people were already arguing about what Sonic is "Supposed to be" and in the 2000s SatAM was still considered a legitimate contender for that debate. This means that yes, Ian's still heavily western teen hero with a girlfriend Sonic was still considered "in-character" by adults in the fandom (JP purists did exist but, as they are now, were a minority). Meanwhile the stories for the games were extremely contentious. People were not happy with the Sonic X voices. Plot Holes were immediately considered bad writing on the 2000s internet. Nobody gave two shits about themes. The consensus on Secret Rings is that it sucks and on 06 is that Shadow's story was good and everything else was dogshit and Silver needs to go into the vault. It's only natural that Archie gets overpraised at this exact point in time. This sweet spot before the legal battle and after two of the most contentious games in the franchise.The mere concept that Ian Flynn is a bad writer would not kick in until the reboot. I had an idea how Sonic Crossroads can finally push the Sonic Franchise well past Nintendo. All they have to do is collab with the series Sonic got the most inspiration from and make Goku, Piccolo, Future Trunks, and Vegeta DLC characters. And give Goku and Piccolo their alternative costumes from the driving filler and introduce "alternative costumes" to the character select menu. And make ton of references to Sonic and Dragonball 's similarities such as Super Sonic and Super Saiyan, the 7 emeralds/dragon balls, Future Trunks and Silver going back to save the past I guarantee you the fans would eat it up and their numbers would increase significantly. I am not memeing, I always thought it was cringe when people said ADD GOKU TO SMASH! but this actually makes since, since they're adding in Beyblade and Miku and whatever the hell else they want anyways to appeal to weabs
