There's no meaningful difference between Core and the hardest difficulty in wotr, because the hardest difficulty in wotr just requires you to cast a few buffs before you go in, and the middle difficiulties don't require that. It's the same enemies in the same positions using the same spells and abilities, they're just inflated AC and DC and save numbers in higher difficulties. So you have to cast various things on yourself to overcome spell resistance or whatever the situation demands. But it's not even like you need to be smart and do homework to be good at the game either, since the game has an inspect feature that will tell you what you need to cast on yourself....Again, I'm a huge owlcat simp and I've preordered all their games and I'm doing the same with Dark Heresy, I'm just chiming in because I disagree with the premise that difficulty means anything in owlcat games.In contrast, in bg3 for example, enemies have different items in their inventories and different spells on their spell list in Tactician mode, and Honor mode takes it another step and gives the bosses throughout the game lair actions which are unique reactions to specific events (killing their summons, using magic, using a certain element on them, adding or subtracting damage resistance, etc) that are unique to those difficulty levels and actually meaningfully change the encounter and what you have to do as a player.

This whole thing is stupid, on both sides. Romances are nice and most people agree they're fun, so obviously saying they're bad is not true. But they should just be icing on the cake of an already good game, you have a long list of more important things to do to make a good game before you should be focusing on romances. The characters have to be actually interesting characters or else a romance is just a cheap checkbox. Veilguard had this issue for example. It's really unfortunate that this has become a forefront topic of crpg discussion when it always should have been just a nice cherry on top feature.I actually think Sawyer was correct when he said that if you do it, it should be done right. I also think that he was correct when he said that romance can be good, people just should avoid making it another quest where you "win". These are not original thoughts and he's mostly stating the obvious, he's just a prominent figure who has said them so he's brought up a lot on this topic.I actually think Kibellah was pretty well done. Her romance is not just selecting options, it actually checks your character's alignment and how you handle certain quests. She has several romance endings that are sidegrades, not failures and "win" states. Her non-romanced character is fine and coherent, and her non-romance endings are fine and coherent. Her romance actually has some messed up parts and you can easily accidentally do things that are not actaully good for her as a person, which is interesting and unique. She has a lot of what makes a good videogame romance. Branching paths, not just based on dialogue, can fail easily, but also not every ending is just a fail or success.I'd like to see more romances that are integrated into the plot of the game, have more branching paths, and check to make sure the player is paying attention and not just selecting the overtly romance-y choices. In other words, realistic.

I do agree that romance should more than "do this questline or pick these dialogue options until you win" but long or overly complex romances aren't much of a solution either. Not all of these are obvious and it even depends on how you handle certain quests. It's actually really well done both mechanically and narratively.
