psychite dependency is by far one of the easiest to manage yeah - you don't even need to take yayo for it, just have your pawns take some psychite tea every few days. 5 was the when the withdrawal begins to hit I believe, so 1 tea per pawn every 4 days makes it a non-issue and just take a yayo hit when a raid happens. All the dependencies are relatively easy to manage tbqh, though wake-up and go-juice are probably a bit rough to start with and need you to find neutroamine to produce. Smokeleaf is probably the worst because being high on it gives you some debuffs.

Shit, I could give my boarmen an alcohol dependency as well for even more metabolic efficiency and traits now that I think about it.

If you mean the ones in the bottom right, I tried to minmax them so they are as close as possible, as long as the tips touch water and they don't intercept there are no issues.
All the walkways between are me doing it in steps and placing walls in front to help against raiders.

Rimsort sometimes fails to spot dependencies or compatibility issues. Done the same modlist on both rimpy and rimsort where rimsort said its fine while rimpy pointed out how I am missing 3 frameworks and 2 mods are hard incompatibilities with each other. it's literally as if you were sharing game controls, so everyone can accept quests, control pawns etc. Only the host can pause, though I think there's a setting to change that.
Also multiple colonies (and player factions I believe) are possible and they can even run at different speeds. We didn't do that before because the game would definitely lag to hell.
Like the other anon said, everyone controlled one pawn in our games using the rjw hero function. Only reason I added that mod I swear!

Dunno which anon pointed that out, but Ratkin apparel appears to be overtuned for Medieval Overhaul at first glance... but I'm not entirely sure. Some of it is cross-layer (90% on skin and middle) while MO gear is modular and intented to be worn in mutltiple separate layers like in the case of flak vest + duster vs. recon armor.

So far, my experience with Rimpsyche kinda vindicates Tynan's philosophy. It doesn't feel like it adds anything worthwhile. Instead of arbitrary compatibility values between two pawns, you have arbitrary personality traits that are used to calculate compatibility. It's equally arbitrary, but one step removed.
It could potentially add some story if the personalities were presented in human terms. The jock and the nerd not getting along would be a story. The slacker and the rebel finding common ground would be a story. But instead I'm presented with an array of gradients, as if I'm expected to calculate the cosine similarity between all pairs of pawns to figure out how closely they match.
And the interaction sound so stiff and dull.

All it conveys is "interaction was positive", which is mildly consequential, but not enough to be worth reading those same sentences over and over. I only sort of agree, given the mod's first module of changing quote "pawn behavior and reactions based on their personality" is going to drop tomorrow or the day after that. I also feel it's a little unfair to ignore the fact that the mod does change personalities considerably based on the traits pawns have. Ascetic vs. Psychopath vs. Teetotaler vs. Chemical fascination and so on. He even fields suggestions for modded traits to incorporate similarly, like VTE, Bad People, Way Better Romance, etc.
I do think the personality view is unintuitive, but that was a similar story in Psychology. That's RimPsyche's biggest hurdle, making all of it intuitive to read up on and understand.
Have you seen Personality Plus? That one is probably the most 'vanilla' of the personality mods. A little all encompassing for me, though. I'd be content with a mod that simply modified compatibility values based on the traits/backgrounds pawns share.

I've poked a bit at the apparel defs and ratkin author is a great fan of mixing flat offsets for armor with stuffable modifiers. Makes is a nightmare to grasp actual armor effectiveness just looking at the xml.
One other thing I noticed is that apparel uses stuffables which makes clothes have weird tints if you don't use a color-neutral material or recolor it with dyes later.

I felt that Ratkin melee knights are very strong in general, even against indsutrial tier enemies and even mechs. Against vanilla raids I could just put them auto and I never really worried about them dying. I think the shields in particular make a big difference because it adds another layer of RNG where they can just shrug off attacks.

It would be faster to just remove all rat shield thingdefs and remake it using MO. Copy paste MO shields, edit armor coverage and values to your liking, and set the textures and apparel tags to be the same with the OG rat shields so they would spawn.

How do you design genomes and how hard is it? How late into the game is it? I've never interacted with it despite having 800+ hours in the game. With that being said very, very few of my colonies make it pasta year because I get greedy (pristine ruins) and end up with a colony wipe. I do like them having things they struggle to do, but my primary concern with Hussars is that (without mods) you can't fully produce your own go-juice to keep them running. I know that it's not that massive a problem but the idea of it doesn't sit well with me. Neanderthals are probably one of my favourite base genomes because their whole job is to walk up to the enemy and beat them to death. Just pure caveman. Robust is there because one time I had a Hussar who somehow lost a melee fight to a naked waster and that just fucking hurt if I'm being honest.

to make 'em? Piss eay, click the traits you want and you're golden. To make 'em good? Bit harder, because if you want to make a superpawn who can do everything, is drop-dead gorgeous, learns quickly and can eat anything they'll depopulate the entire map of food frightening quickly because their metabolic efficiency (hunger rate modifier) is gonna be horrific. Unless you use one of the archite genes to get a +6 score on it, but that feels a bit too much like cheating to me so I don't do that.

That's also true, the thing is 1.5x faster than the standard longsword while doing only 15% less damage, and the difference is even bigger when you use better materials. It's also technically cheaper to make too if you can get a hold of the secondary material. They really need to either lower the damage or bump up the cost for it especially when it does bonus damage to anomaly entities, but that goes for a lot of things in the mod. They're all slightly more powerful things made to compensate for the disadvantages that the race has, but it turns broken when you combine them with vanilla mechanics and exploit all of them at once

But also make sure your best retextures are loaded last. I just learned today that the reason beards always looked out of place on my pawns was because I had Vanilla Textures Expanded loaded after UNAGI Facial Animation. VTE easily beats vanilla, but it's worse than pretty much every other retexture, so I'd only pick its textures as a last resort.

Haven't made a gravship for my current colony, so here's the previous one.
Captained by a sanguophage mechanitor with the archon rank and copiloted by two creepjoiners.

I eventually cured my captain of vampirism, added a door to their former deathrest chamber next to the pilot console, filled it with beds, and used the ship to launch an attack on the orbital mechanoid hive with ~30 pawns at once.
It was still bullshit because of all the 1-tile wide hallways and every time you kill a defense node it spawns an immediately hostile raid, meaning you gotta kill everything, go back and heal, then send one lone pawn back to kill the node then hurry back to the ship to defend it. I ended up building a ton of turrets and walls in front of my ship to fend off the attacks.

an update to these genomes; so they work pretty damn well, my warrior beat the life out of a yttakin who tried to knife him and my workers promptly harvested a kidney, lung and heart from him before we took his skull to turn into a nice ornament somewhere. I somewhat wish I'd taken a boost to cooking to more reliably feed prisoners for the incredibly brief time we hold them but we're making do with the old "draft pawns to drop their nutrient paste, forbid the thing, then undraft/draft them until you have 50 premade meals ready". In a more comical turn of events, the only member of the colony currently capable of even attempting social actions is the nudist warrior who has a genetic malus of fukken eight to the skill. Oops.

Currently have both the workers powering through research in two converted spare bedrooms, so with any luck we'll be able to produce chain shotguns, devilstran clothes, yayo and all the rest by next spring.
