I think blade would make a better tank than reed. As a tank reed wouldn’t fill a niche. He’s just be a slightly different flavour of the thing. He works better as a DPS because he gets the benefit of higher damage at the cost of greater vulnerability every now and then. It makes him unique. Blade, however, fills no role in DPS. He sucks ass as a tankbuster, and the whole half poke a half brawler gimmick could have been filled by dead pool. But the tank role currently lacks a true half poke half brawler, with the closest being Thor and Emma, but they can only switch roles temporarily. Blade could have filled that niche and it would have resulted in a brawler who can easily deal with fliers.
